U.S. President Barack Obama will announce on Monday a six-year infrastructure revamp plan with an initial investment of $50 billion to jump-start job creation, a white house official said.
Obama is committed to working with the U.S. Congress to fully fund the program, which also includes a proposed infrastructure bank to leverage private capital, the official said.
Obama is to make the announcement in Milwaukee, where he will make a speech to a labor rally on Monday, the Labor Day holiday that marks the informal start of the election campaign season.
With a jobless rate near 10 percent, Democrats are facing predicted losses in the Nov. 2 congressional elections and the Obama administration is trying to convince voters that Democratic policies can lead the way out of the country's deepest recession in 70 years.

AAARRGGHHHHH
So the jobs are for 6 years .
This is the problem with his spending spree, any jobs made are only short term jobs not long term 40 year jobs.
He’;s making these short term jobs to make the numbers look good for him in the short term .
Can someone please wake up the GOP and tell them it is high time to start speaking out against the left’s messiah.
For instance about short term jobs, political witch hunts against AZ, the sheriff etc from the so called justice depot, etc etc etc etc
WPA 2.0?
Doomed from the beginning by his total lack of experience and muslim/marxist upbringing, mindless sheep elected this guy anyway based on a slogan.
Can such people survive??
obanana : Buy me the next 2 elections
Sound familiar? A new six year plan, eh?
$50 billion over 6 years won’t make a dent in a $14 trillion a year economy the same way even $1 trillion didn’t make a dent. This is a campaign ploy designed to shore up the Rat’s idiot base.
fund it how pray tell with what
Those their masters find useful. Other than that, there has to be an incredible change in the way people think or a miracle, or both.
Budget hole filler for the states.
Exactly. The only purpose of this (and any other forthcoming "plans") is an attempt to stem the coming losses in the House and Senate. We always need to keep this in mind: the objective of this administration (and its backers) is the DESTRUCTION of American society, Capitalism, and the economy. There is NO intention to "improve" anything, never. Destruction is the goal, nothing less.
“Administration officials wouldn’t say what the total cost of the infrastructure investments would be, but did say the initial $50 billion represents a significant percentage.”

jobs will probably be based on how states “voted”: dem vs rep, blue vs red etc.

Whatever happened to the good old days when Dubya was president..
and Americans could look forward to a lifetime of flipping Burger's at Mickey D's???
It was the GOP who developed the concept of infrastructure banks and other alternative methods of financing infrastructure. Many states have infrastructure banks.
As for the NIB, that began in the Senate in 2007. Pelosi brought it to the House in 2008 when she was trying to convince Bush that he needed a second stimulus that included highway infrastructure. Everybody likes to talk about the obama stimulus and nobody likes to talk about the Bush stimulus.
You still have this problem that the feds and the states have to find an alternative to the gasoline tax.
