Just two years ago, supporting homosexual marriage was such an extreme, politically radioactive position that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton both Alinskyite progressives and long-time gay-rights supporters saw fit to publicly and repeatedly declare their opposition to same-sex marriage.
Today, as the homosexual newspaper the Washington Blade puts it, "conservatives have taken the leadership role in achieving marriage equality."
That's right. Not only have high-profile conservatives like Glenn Beck, "The View's" Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Laura Bush, Dick Cheney and many others publicly offered their ringing endorsement of men marrying men and women marrying women, but some on the right are, as the Blade reports, actually leading the charge.
Case in point: George W. Bush's solicitor general Ted Olson has been dedicating his time as one of the two lead attorneys who successfully challenged California's Proposition 8, which had enshrined in the state's constitution the fact that, as Hillary Clinton put it, "marriage is as a marriage always has been, between a man and a woman."
Indeed, proclaims the Blade, when it comes to the battle to legalize same-sex marriage, it is conservatives who "have achieved the most important success so far as they are the most willing and most able to take the case to the Supreme Court."
...
And S.E. Cupp, a young conservative Daily Caller columnist and frequent Fox pundit, goes so far as to say, "Conservatism and gay rights are actually natural allies. Conservatism rightly seeks to keep the government out of our private lives, and when you strip away the politics of pop culture, it's this assertion of privacy and freedom that the gay rights movement is essentially making."

Has it ever occurred to you that you are hearing only what the MSM wants you to hear?
You think WND is part of the MSM?
Holy Rattling H - E Double Hockey Sticks!!
I think the Rapture has already happened.
Armageddon can’t be far off. As it was in the days of Noah.....
Disgust. Revulsion. Horror. Sickening. Ghastly.
That occurs to me every time they put something in print.
Conservatives approve of same sex marriage?
I didn’t see any conservatives in that list.
Republicans, yes.. Conservatives, no.
Listen up.
It will not be stopped.
It cannot be stopped.
We have so dumbed down the people that they are incapable of understanding what are the causes of our coming collapse.
Simply put: Self government, requires self control. A people unwilling to self regulate their passions and lusts will soon there after be unable to control their spending, their education, and eventually their own self defense.
It is not that Homosexuality causes these things. It is very simply that the open acceptance of homosexuality is the very last “Bridge Out Ahead” sign on the highway to hell.
We are about to pass it. Once we do, momentum will take us over the end of the bridge and to our fiery death below.
Like the joke says. It’s not the fall that kills you. It’s the sudden stop at the end.
So please, no “you are just giving up” or “You are helping the sodomites win”. Please, I nearly got banned for calling these wicked abominations what they are and by direct order, I am not allowed to use such words. So know, I am as opposed as any can be. But we HAVE lost.
It’s over. Deal with it now while you are still free to do so. Deal with it while we can still have a somewhat free debate here. The day is coming and coming so fast, when even your church will not be able to say the very Word of God without being closed, arrested, sued, or killed.
Teach your children how to live for Christ in a soviet styled nation. It is coming and it is already within our own house as we sleep!
When I say deal with it, I mean as if you were just woken by the sounds of men in you home and about to open the bedroom door in seconds and you have NO weapons able to stop them.
What do you do?
Prepare!!
I consider myself socially conservative and do not think churches should be forced to participate in or sanctions that are inconsistent with their beliefs.
If that’s what gay marriage is, then I’m against it. If, on the other hand, gay marriage is making life easier for two (or ten) people, then I don’t care.
The issue has become so political that the obvious solution — get government out of the pews — is not an option.
I understand the ‘slippery slope’ theory and appreciate that this could become a stepping stone to adoption rights and other things I don’t think are good for society, but put a gay marriage/pro life on the ballot with a defense of marriage/pro choice candidate and it’s a no brainer for me.
Evil is evil. Sin in sin.
Two words.

Dittow, wizwor, although I do think gays should be able to adopt. I have several gay friends who are doing a spectacular job raising adopted children, and one couple went out of their way to adopt special needs children.
The Bible actually says it is a mental disorder as well.
In Romans it says because they did not WISH to RETAIN knowledge of God, He gave them over...
He does not give up on Murderers, Adulterers, Thieves, Liars. He does give up on the Sodomites.
Why? Because they are not reprogrammable after a certain point. They go down a dark road into mental defect from which there is no return.
This is why so FEW do repent and recover. Oh, some do, Praise Be. But most do not, will not, cannot.
We are in a period of tyranny of the minority and have been for years now. Much evil (abortion) has been made okay.
God help us in our day.
God allows men to do evil and go his own way, and there are consequences.
Once upon a time, marrying someone of a different race was considered to be an actionable crime... Once upon a time women were considered property...
Can’t imagine worshipping a God who gives up on ANYONE.
“So please, no you are just giving up or You are helping the sodomites win. Please, I nearly got banned for calling these wicked abominations what they are and by direct order, I am not allowed to use such words. So know, I am as opposed as any can be. But we HAVE lost.”
Lots of Freepers say the same as you and they are not being banned or Kicked off or warned. The moderators don’t want us being uncivil to one another that’s all. Homosexuality is an abomination...and there will be none that continued to practise such in their lives allowed into heaven! If the moderators are banning this then Free Republic has become corrupted. But I don’t think we’re there yet!
Conservatives who back same sex marriage are like conservatives who back the removal of age of consent laws.
Conservatives who back same sex marriage are like conservatives who back mandatory community service for school children.
Conservatives who back same sex marriage are like conservatives who back abortion.
“If, on the other hand, gay marriage is making life easier for two (or ten) people, then I dont care.”
If the government takes someone’s property without compensating them, I really don’t care. It doesn’t affect me. If they take away my neighbor because he is Jewish, why do I care? I’m not Jewish.
President Obama has been very consistent on this issue, he’s opposed to gay marriage. It’s one of the few things he has been consistent on, even when it hurts him politically.
Hard to judge motives, but I would have thought he would haved caved in by now on the gay marriage issue if he didn’t really believe it.
There are lots of us who consider homosexuality an abomination, but we just don't want to execute everyone who engages in sodomy.
ML/NJ
Obama IS a sodomite, and he does not wish to be Outed, so he, like most of them, puts on the veneer.
You would prefer to sit back, do and say nothing, and wait for them to kill you first?
Anything is possible.
But even if true, Obama has been very consistently and publically against gay marriage ... moreso than many so-called conservatives.
Like I said, I don’t know his motives, whether it’s a political calculation or he really is against it. Either way, he’s been PUBLICALLY willing to go against it.
Establishment Republicans are, in too large a measure, part of the Political Class mentioned by Rasmussen in his polling.
They, like the Democrats we all despise, occasionally presume to tell us what we believe, or ought to believe.
Economically, they are the reason for the Tea Party’s existence.
Behaviorally, we face a long, hard struggle to replace this Political Class with a group who will listen to the will of the people, expressed at last count in 39 states that have voted against legalizing homosexual ‘marriage’.
Yes, he has. Unless you count his efforts to end the don’t ask in the Military. Then he is farther to the left than anyone in history on this issue. Guess his stance depends on the venue.
There are other passages that describes the Holy Spirit ceasing to strive with folks when they continued to reject Jesus Christ, no matter what primary sin they were into. I think that passage of scripture describes the effect of what rejection of God ultimately can lead to including homosexuality. It doesn’t state that homosexuality itself leads to reprobation, it states that continued rejection of God and revolting against his grace gets you given over “to a reprobate mind” leading to such lifestyles.
Rebel against God and his light and you risk a darkened consciousness, much given over to unnatural lusts almost beastlike in nature. Look at the story of Nebuchednezzar for one such story. Homosexuality isn’t the only “bad end” that can occur when one rejects God but it is a most demostrative one in which the pronounced effects of a consciousness fully at odds with God can be clearly observed!
No. I am now saying the maximum I am allowed to say. I once said much more direct, yet not directed "AT" anyone. There are words which are NOT allowed. And words define things. Once words are removed from the vocabulary the very nature of the debate is changed. We are losing. Lo, we HAVE lost.
And mark my words. This forum will embrace it and it will be no longer "free" to even discuss it, before we can celebrate it's next double anniversary.
There are many here who are not only enablers but PRACTITIONERS. And like all practitioners, seek to be above condemnation for their deeds.
It used to be said "10%" were "gay". Before the next decade ends, that number WILL BE ABOVE 25% if not a majority.
I graduated from College just a few years ago, and the number of people who "tried" it... had an "experience" or two, at a PRIVATE University, is at least 1 in 5. It is the "new" trying drugs, or trying normal sex. The just this side of Taboo but no big deal.
You cannot undo that kind of learning. I know of only one guy who "hated it" so badly, that he ran 180 degrees and back to Church and Christ! To most it was just "silly" and didn't mean anything. Some, found they LIKED it and just say they are now "Bi" but mostly "Hetro". This is what the next generation is growing up with.
Those of you old timers, who grew up when you called some poor kid a name and mocked him in School, even if he wasn't really gay, that generation is gone. That understanding is gone. You have no idea how many GAY CLUBS are in the Middle Schools and Grade Schools today. Nor, how many gay teachers and admins nurture and recruit for them.
This is beyond infestation. This is beyond plague. This is the end of the world. 2 seconds to midnight.
The queers I know are not the least bit violent. What are you talking about?
ML/NJ
I’d like to see those “other” examples. Truly.
Every 10 seconds spent thinking about this, is 10 seconds of respite for the people guilty of economic policies that are incompatible with the Constitution.
Maybe you should direct your comment to WND which seems to equate speaking to or with homosexuals, with sleeping with them.
ML/NJ
Welcome to Free Republic, Mark Moreford.
You will find that we breeders to not hate you near as much as you have always thought we did. Unless you get in our face and demand things, we don't think about you at all.
You are having a Ugarte moment.

Well the moderators don’t like the curse words or slang terms...though the term “gay”, Lesbian or homosexual seem to be allowed. Then again such terms as the moderators would ban are also banned in even the most conservative churches. We don’t need to use slang terms in a provacative way to get our messages across. Just speaking the truth with the malice of doves will get us ridiculed or even killed in some venues. The resurrection of Jesus is a stumbling block to some and foolishness to others. What say you admin moderators?
Yep. What you said.
Let’s go down the list:
Glenn Beck made a curiously uninformed statement about it...he said, to paraphrase, if the gays who want to marry aren’t coming to get us (believers in traditional marriage), I don’t really care that much about the issue. A FReeper answered, they are coming to get your children. Beck acts like an ignoramus on this matter...someone needs to help him.
One more thing: Beck is almost a libertarian. Not all the way, but almost. Calling him conservative doesn’t tell the story.
Dick Cheney is personally compromised on the issue because of his daughter and now even having grandchildren by his gay daughter being artificially inseminated. Not excusing his stance, just illuminating it.
Laura Bush has never claimed to be a conservative.
Ted Olson has made a ton of money for this advocacy. He is one of the best ever and his services come very, very high. Also, did he not remarry a leftist? I think I read so. Correct me if I’m wrong on that.
As far as I know, Glenn Beck has never endorsed gay marriage.
Anyone looking to Elizabeth Hasselbeck for political leadership cannot be considered part of the conservative base.
Laura Bush. Lovely woman, but has distanced herself from mainstream conservatism. As far as I can tell, she has little actual party influence.
Everyone assumed Ted Olson was a conservative based on some of his past work and who he was married to. It turns out, he is a lawyer.
For most of his life in government service Dick Cheney never had much of an ideology. Of the WND list, He is as close to Republican Party leadership supporting gay marriage as they get. And he dutifully supported the party position, even when he didn't endorse it.
I'm still not seeing Republican Party endorsing gay marriage.
I tell you what I say.
We are at war and in danger of losing this nation or we are not.
We can sustain this debt, ignore the Muslims and engage in every debauchery known and yet unknown or we cannot.
If not, then fine, this is a lovely little cafe message board where we can all be chummy and politely discuss the various difference of opinion, knowing, safely, surely, that in the end, it truly makes no difference which path we take.
OR...
We can LIE. That’s right. We can know that it is war. We can know the very heart and soul of the nation hangs in the balance and we can pussy foot around the topics, and discuss the sinking of the Titanic as gentlemen (and ladies).
OR...
We have wage holy war with no hold barred relentless, uncompromising, to the bitter end and die with our boots on!
Obviously, I stand much alone in the later cause.
Most seem well content to the middle of the road option.
And quite too many seem to prefer the illusion of the first.
I don’t really know what most of you are thinking, but as for me... Liberty or Death!
And sadly, Liberty is no longer even an option.
Those most are so stuck in the middle they are loath to admit how far along we truly are in this loss.
“Okay, so here’s my worry: It seems like every day another Republican or so-called conservative says they’re now for gay “marriage”. ....... It’s always the right caving in to the pro-gay side. How will this trend ever be reversed? “
It won’t be reversed if we keep electing dunderheads like McCain just because the liars have an “r” beside their names.

John McCain Again Turns to Homosexual Mark Buse to Lead Re-Election Campaign
http://sonoranalliance.com/2010/08/11/john-mccain-again-turns-to-homosexual-mark-buse-to-lead-re-election-campaign/
McCain has a long history of flip-flopping on gay marriage
Yet veers to left in Senate reelection campaign by hiring homosexual lobbyist to run campaign
Looks like John McCain is veering back to the left already on gay marriage, having hired an openly gay lobbyist to manage his campaign, Mark Buse. This is more in line with his wife and daughters views, who openly opposed Californias Prop. 8 ballot initiative which stated that marriage is between a man and woman. Cindy McCain has a photo of her opposing that initiative as her Twitter profile picture, and both women have campaigned against it. It is clear McCain doesnt want the Christian conservative vote.[snip]
Lobbyist Hired by Freddie Mac to Work on McCain Is Now Senators Aide (Buse)
[snips]Senator McCain was talking about limiting executive compensation, and Buse was retained to nip that in the bud, said a former lobbyist who insisted on anonymity because of continuing relationships with the companies.
Buse was nicknamed The Ferret because he helped his boss, McCain, find pork-barrel provisions buried in legislation. McCain has said he considered Buse to be like a son.
Buse left the commerce committee staff to lobby, signing on clients as diverse as oil giant Exxon Mobil, Wall Street firm Goldman Sachs and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, according to the government records. He also represented telecommunications clients affected by the committee.
Buse returned to McCains office this year as chief of staff.
A few years ago, some posters took over the argument and ran everyone who disgreed with them off the threads and the site. Then the owner came out and agreed with them with his declaration against "homosexualism." Many good conservative people have been banned or left because if they disagreed with any one point, they were called pro-agenda, anti-FR, and worse. We lost a lot of discussion when that happened. But that's the way it is September 6, 2010..............
“Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have compassion on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon” (Isaiah 55:6).
There is a time when the Lord calls upon individuals, if they cease to respond, he leaves them in their wickedness.
One who backs same-sex marriage is not a conservative because he wishes to make one of the most basic alterations of society that there is. That is the antithesis of Conservatism.
If gay marriage ever obtains the official sanction and approval of the federal government, the private lives and personal beliefs of religious conservatives WILL be the central focus of some of the most aggressive and unrelenting governmental coercion ever carried out by the federal government against its own citizens.
Count on it.
Very, very, VERY strange.
It is NOT a slippery slope. It is a jagged rock near the bottom of that slope.
I would be cautious about using an Old Testament passage to apply to the post Grace age. But, that is my Dispensationism speaking.
In Romans, speaking to Sodomy and Lesbianism directly, Paul says in clear terms, that they were given up “Because” of their vile affections.
Cause and effect.
No other place is such a direct statement made regarding any specific sin.
Lots of generalities, lots of repent and you are OK stuff. One very specific, very direct here.
Again, most of the Sodomites and their enablers like to go to the Old testament and ask “should we stone someone who steals bread too”.
Because they do not and are not able to address this passage in Romans.
The Holy Spirit put that one in here to make it plain to us, when we had crossed the point of no return.
We are about to do so.
I predict we will.
Then this debate will no longer even be allowed.
Just what is it that they are pretending to "conserve"?
