U.S. Embassy Reaffirms U.S. Respect for Islam (Obama Condemns 1st Amend. Protected Koran Burning)
U.S. Embassy in Kabul ^ | Monday, September 6, 2010

Posted on 09/06/2010 10:20:39 AM PDT by kristinn

The United States government in no way condones such acts of disrespect against the religion of Islam, and is deeply concerned about deliberate attempts to offend members of religious or ethnic groups.

The embassy wants to emphasize that we strongly condemn the offensive messages, which are contrary to U.S. government policy and deeply offensive to Muslims especially during the month of Ramadan.

President Obama made clear in Cairo in his speech on June 4, 2009 that he considers it part of his responsibility as President to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they occur. And during his recent Iftar speech at the White House he said: “Let me be clear: as a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country.”

Americans from all religious and ethnic backgrounds reject the offensive initiative by this small group in Florida. A great number of American voices are protesting the hurtful statements made by this organization. Numerous interfaith and religious groups in America are actively working to counter this kind of ignorance and misinformation that is offensive to so many people in the U.S. and around the world.

Just a few days ago, President Obama’s Special Envoy to the OIC, Rashad Hussain visited Afghanistan, reaching out to political leaders, religious leaders, students and all citizens of Afghanistan, communicating the important message of friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between the U.S. and Muslim communities all around the world.

“...President Obama made clear in Cairo in his speech on June 4, 2009 that he considers it part of his responsibility as President to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they occur. “

However, perpetuating negative stereotypes about Special Olympics athletes, bitter people clinging to their Bibles, or supposedly racist cops acting “stupidly” isn’t a problem...

As CIC, Obama should be the point man on this issue. I have no problem with him saying that the church has a right to burn the Korans, but he questions the wisdom of doing so since it might endanger our troops and hurt our Muslim allies in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as in the Middle East.

The Embassy is just following orders as is Petraeus. Obama is MIA on this issue.

Obama has a responsibility to our troops. The burning of Korans is an extreme just like radical Islam. There are over 1 billion Muslims in the world. We should condemn extremism regardless of where it comes from, including from Islam. In Saudi Arabia, it is illegal to even bring in a bible to the country.

But he probably uses a Bible and an American flag to light the barbecue fire on the White House lawn.

In the islamic republic of Iran, a women appearing in public without her hair covered is punished with 99 lashes. A women who has been raped is sentenced for adultery to death by stoning .

This is not only considered just, but proper to their islamic belief.

I’m beyond tired of this “negative stereotype” bullsh*t. When a “stereotype” is repeatedly validated, it’s not a stereotype anymore - it’s a reality.

The islamo-marxists are only interested in control. They dismiss their own hypocrisy because it is not in their political interests to be consistent. Telling the truth is a weakness to them in their Machiavellian “ends justify the means” world view.

Islam means “submission.”

We have a Constitutional right to reject islam.

Fight it now.

Sorry, Piper, but it’s called push back and has been long overdue.

But trampling the American flag is valued freedom of speech:

Yes I agree, Dear Leader.

I think burning the cult-cum-religion of "Pieces" holy book is offensive, not to mention, poluting

THEREFORE, I am considering volunteering to extinguish the fire caused by said book burning.

However as I have had no formal firefighting training, I will have to resort to other more common measures in putting out the fires.

While I can't exactly outline in detail how I intend to do that as it might also be considered offensive (not to mention, indecent) all I'll say is that my method will end up resembling that other great art form which was hailed as avant garde to be protected at all cost and even funded with our tax $$--"Piss Christ!"

Get the picture???

Lan Astaslem!

Mmm, mmm, mmm,

It is a pointless, stupid stunt.

Yes, most pointless/stupid stunts here in the US get headlined by the Embassy in Kabul...

Burning a few Korans is a good start.

Tell that to the guys in Afghanistan, fighting not just our enemies, but the propaganda war, that uses idiocy like this to rally them to their cause.

I'm sure this little infantile tantrum will make the new gold star mothers feel better...

I think I heard on the radio this morning that they are protesting/rioting in the Middle East somewhere.

It sure doesn’t take much to get their muzzie panties in a wad.

To be fair to the State Dept, burning Qurans puts Americans abroad (include US military) at increased risk of violence by mad muzzies. It is part of the duty of the President and State Dept to protect Americans elsewhere in the world.

how on earth is this man still in office and why the hell has the GOP being silent for the most part on all of how he keeps putting down America, not telling others about our laws and protecting America.

They will rally to their cause whether we provoke them or not. Islam and the US Constitution cannot coexist. Every Muslim in the World is determined that Islam be the victor.

Bambi helps the jihadis rally their forces by talking about this Koran burning, even to condemn it.

build a mosque near where 3,000 died= support mosque. support 1st amendment
burn our flag, support amendment.
burn Bible, thrown down toilet etc -support 1st amendment
burn koran, -speak against the 1st amendment
support our immigration laws -sue them
black racists intimdating people and shouting racist language- lessen and drop charges.

it just goes on and on the list and yet the GOP are virtually silent.
The ignorant’s do not see the hypocrisy

This man should be impeached or at best hounded out of the white house due to him ignoring our laws, not protecting this country or her citizens

I think it is ridiculous that Obama’s DOD and State Dept believe that a 50 member church will incite Muslims.

This is standard operating procedure for Obama to blame someone else for his failures. When Obama’s war against the Afghans goes south, Obama can blame the 50 member church in Florida.
