I DID refrain from talking politics or Tea Party. That would have been UGLY!
Earlier this year right after his wife died, he went on a backpacking tour of Europe. Walked and took the train to Prague, Vienna, Berlin and such.
He's thinking about moving back to Pgh and getting a condo downtown so he can walk to Heinz Hall, the Benedum, etcetera.
I can't wait...
At least Jim is busting Hussein for the latest 50 BILLION spending spree!
My sympathies about your brother. At least he’s passionate about his liberalism. My siblings live in their own universe where they don’t pay attention to what’s going on outside their little world. If I’m on the phone with one of them and want to get off fast, I just bring up politics. They don’t stay on the phone long! They just don’t want to hear it. As long as they don’t perceive an in-your-face threat, they don’t care. Drives me crazy!
As for me and Mr S. He decided to build a closet. Our 206 year old farmhouse has only one closet - not counting those in the addition. No closet in our bedroom. We had one of those separate units with the cloth surround and zip up front. So he and son put in the framing on Saturday and Sunday, and I helped him with drywall yesterday. We’ll finish it next weekend. However, we did put our clothes in in. On Saturday, we went to Lowes looking for a door to put on it. Couldn’t decided what we wanted and had to mind the budget. We checked the markdown/returns cart and lo and behold, there was a set of doors marked down to $12.25! Slight dent/crack in the front. But we figure nobody but us is going to see it anyway!

BTW I missed HC's show Sunday night but it sounded like it was going to be fantastic! As soon as I can I HAVE to get the podcast, which is about the only way I can listen...sigh.

Morning everyone...PaDad back to work today. He still tires really, really easily...but will work about six hours and build back up to his usual 9 or 10 (he can do work from home tonight too if needed).
Kids have been back to school for two weeks now...so we are kinda, sorta back to normal.
Jim off to a great start. Infrastructure rebuilds??? What have they been doing with all of the money all along?
Refuting the Tea Party is RAAAACIST charge...why is the NAACP still tax exempt by the way???
And sneakers...congrats on the closet project. Once everything finally settles done here...its me and some Behr Paint. Its about all I can afford...this place might be falling apart; but at least I’ll update the colors :)

My color scheme is dictated by the whatever mis-mixed marked-down paint I can find at Lowes! Actually, we’ve lucked out. The colors in our house are not (too) wild!

Rachel Carson! My co-worker went to the same college and thinks Rachel Carson is a genius!
I had a science teacher in HS (a sister) who actually knew Rachel Carson...and couldn’t stand her and her (I think she called it) ‘faulty logic.’ I always wondered, after they renamed the bridge on the NorthSide after Carson is Sister P. was still in the Burgh (she would have been spitting nails!).
And I love ‘wild’ colors...gulp...which is scary if/when we move (Kilz is my friend).

Greg, my buddies over at HillBuzz have the excellent theory that Gov. Palin will announce on February 6, 2011—the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Ronald Wilson Reagan—when she speaks at the commerative ceremony at the Reagan Library.
