Tony Blair on Dick Cheney: He wanted to remake Middle East after 9/11, invade Iraq, Syria, Iran
N.Y. Daily News ^ | September 5th 2010

Dick Cheney wanted to invade several Middle East nations, not just Iraq, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair reveals in his new book.

Blair writes that the former Vice President had a goal to remake the power structure of several countries in that part of the world.

Cheney "would have worked through the whole lot, Iraq, Syria, Iran, dealing with all their surrogates in the course of it -- Hezbollah, Hamas, etc.," Blair wrote in his memoir, "A Journey."

The former PM told Christiane Amanpour on ABC's "This Week" that Cheney, 69, believed "the world had to be remade after September the 11th."

"Dick was always absolutely hard-line on these things," Blair said. "I mean, I think he would openly avow this."

In his book, Blair writes Cheney wanted to deliver a message to nations he felt were supporting terrorists and terror organizations.

"He was for hard, hard power," he wrote. "No ifs, no buts, no maybes. We're coming after you so change or be changed."

and Dick Cheney was right. And that is why I respect him more than any GOP’er in the past decade or two. He should have been President and George VP.

Maybe the US could have hacked up Syria but Iran is too big and too populous.
As we saw, we went in with a small footprint in Iraq, won the war and lost the peace as things got out of control.

The post was plan was foolhardy. We paid a lot for Rumsfeld’s light footprint vision.

“We do apparently need a new Muslim World order.”

Muslims have been playing “Cowboys & Muslims” and do not realize it is an all or nothing game. Americans are just beginning to realize they are being forced to play by incessant Muslim attacks.

When America, Israel, and the West do decide to play, it will be a video game for us and the end of existence for them - as it must be.

Cheney “would have worked through the whole lot, Iraq, Syria, Iran, dealing with all their surrogates in the course of it — Hezbollah, Hamas, etc.,”

TRUE Mid East peace talk.

That’s what I was thinking. There are a lot of people in Iran who would love to have true freedom. They are a proud and intelligent people. We need them on our side.

I always said that the Mideast was like a rotten tooth.. you have to drill out the infection, and replace it with something inert....

Correct on the latter, not so on the first.
Poverty and lack of education where the Koran is the only thing taught provides a tool always offering a steady stream of recruits.

Look up the story on the shootings in India last year. The culprits were recruited from impoverished backgrounds. They are easily led and feel they have no future. Perfect cannon fodder.

Totally agree with you about Cheney. I continue to like and respect this man. I will never forget that picture, taken at obama’s inauguration, of Cheney, in a black hat, meeting obama’s eye and giving obama a hard stare, while Bush is giving obama a hug. No hugs for obama from Cheney.

I heard Cheney once say that toward the end of Bush's presidency, Bush turned away from the beliefs that he and Cheney once held...Bush turned left and Cheney stayed to the right.

Cheney's family is solid. His daughter and wife are excellent speakers and they share Cheney's belief in America first. I hope to see more of Cheney's daughter in the public light..and soon.

I wonder if this COULD have been accomplished if the American people supported the notion.

Guess we will never know....
