Hillary Rodham Clinton on Tuesday called a Florida church’s threat to burn copies of the Muslim holy book to mark the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks a “disrespectful, disgraceful act.” (Sept. 7 Qur’an burning day to mark the 9/11 attacks says he is determined to go ahead in the face of fierce condemnation from the Obama administration.

One nut job in FL (big surprise there...) wants to burn a Koran and the Muslim world explodes; yet the Muslim world has been burning our flag for generations — almost as sacred to Americans as their holy book — and we’re supposed to be okay with that.... These Muslims would make great liberals — no concept of hypocrisy.

Exactly which Muslims are Pro-American? I do not see how a true believer of the Koran can be loyal to the Constitution. Are there any?
Tolerance is not a good idea when dealing with Enemies. I do not think that claiming to be a religion trumps the Constitution. The dilemma is this. If a religion is anti-constitutional how does the first amendment apply to it?

Just as the constitution give the Muslim community the right to build at Ground Zero, it gives the preacher the right to burn the book................Neither are good ideas, but they can legally do so.

Why is he a nutjob?

Folks are free to burn the US Flag, the Bible, etc, etc, etc.

What’s wrong with a little harmless book burning?

Big outrage from the power elite in Washington. Hillary. State Department spokesman.

No outrage over US military confiscating and destroying bibles in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Big outrage throughout the leftist world over the Danish cartoons.

No outrage over “piss Christ” or “dung Virgin”

Duhh, how stupid can we be! We cannot burn the Koran....

Lets dip it in liquid nitrogen and take a hammer to it!

We as Americans have felt helpless, unimportant and voiceless when it comes to expressing our opinion of the elite liberal society, they are climbing all over each other absolutely terrified that our little childish act will upset their alliance with Islam.

I feel strength and this little tingling feeling...

Its not about a church in Florida, its about defiance.

People should at the least go rent a DVD of the movie 300.

Remember the Spartans.

Its a silly stunt that he has every right to do, and is showing the world that he is right about Islam. Should we not oppose Islam now when we have every freedom to do so, even though it makes people violently crazy, or should we oppose it later, when years of cow-towing to Islamists' demands have reduced us to fighting for our very way of life?

Its a stupid silly stunt that is turning out to be a genius act of courage.

Islam is evil and the greatest threat to western civilization. The Koran is a blueprint for conquest, intolerance, and enslavement...couched in a divine mandate.

Burning the Koran is appropriate, particularly on the anniversary of 9/11, Islam’s most provocative attack on our way of life.

Yes it endangers our troops, but so did the Abu Ghraid photos. I don’t remember Hillary speaking out against them.

May God grant our soldiers good aim, and plenty of ammo.

Judges 6

I heard the Reverend speak and he didn't sound like a nut to me. He laid out very solid reasons why they are doing this. Personally I think it's worth doing just to show we can. Too often we supposedly free Americans have been cowed by threats of muzzie violence. Newspapers refused to print the Danish cartoons for out of fear for their employees. South Park was self-censored out of fear. Then a blogger who suggested “everybody draw Mohamed day” retracted and apologized out of fear. Thank God somebody has the balls to follow through.

As for the argument that it endangers our troops, I would suggest that policical correctness endangers them far more. Now many have died in Afghanistan because they can't get fire support if the enemy shoots from anywhere there could possibly be civilians, in the misguided attempt to "win the hearts and minds" of hostile tribesmen? How many died at Fort Hood because the officer corps has been so cowed by PC that they did nothing about an obvious jihadi in their midst out of fear of being labeled anti-Muslim? When the top general in the Army said the next day that the "most important thing" following that shooting was to prevent an "anti-Muslim backlash", not to make sure it never happens again, you knew how far the sickness has gone.

I don’t want to see our troops in any more danger than they already are and I don’t believe that this burning of the Koran will do that any more than burning a copy of “Mein Kampf” or the NAZI flag did in WWII. What does increase the risk for our men is the encouragement given the enemy by announcing the date we will quit and leave.

Personally, I think there are a lot of Muslims that would leave Islam save for one thought and that is their worry that if Islam becomes a world dominate religion through force by radicals they and their families will be hunted down as aposphates and shown no mercy.

Sort of like belonging to the old Chicago mob; you could never leave it.

It’s pointless. It won’t convert a single Muslim. It won’t prevent a single instance of Muslim immigration into the US. It won’t expose a single act of Leftist hypocrisy (claim to support women’s rights while supporting Islamic women’s slavery, eg).

It’s dangerous. US military personnel will die who wouldn’t have otherwise died. Even if it’s only one extra death (and it will probably be more than one) it’s not worth it.

Pointless and dangerous is a bad combination.

Do you want to be the person to explain to the parents of the dead soldier that the reason s/he died is so that this church could engage in a pointless and dangerous exercise?

Hillary Rodham Clinton ... threat to burn copies of the Muslim holy book ... a “disrespectful, disgraceful act.”

Paging captain obvious Mrs. Clinton - that is the intent.

I generally don't agree with burning books, any books. Smacks of wanting to control/limit access to information and ideas.

However, I do fully support liberty and freedom in America. So I celebrate this guy's right to burn 'em. If he's willing to take the heat for it (pardon the pun) fine.

Lets show the world what a free society looks like. Sure, sometimes people are going to do whacked-out things. But the point is, we have the freedom to do (or not do) these things.

Winston Churchill once said something to the effect that if we wish to enjoy the blessings of free speech then we must be prepared to occasionally put up with some foolish speech. Nowhere is that more evident than with this media whore of a ‘preacher’ and his four dozen or so adherents.

They came first for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.

Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.

Eventually Muslims will be demanding stoning of women in the USA, and if we don't comply, there will be violence. (As if they don't threaten us with Violence anyway.)

Although I don't really think burning a Quran is very productive in its self, the reaction has been very productive. We, of course, have the “moderate” Muslims reacting like a bunch of spoiled brats and burning the US flag and rioting, and we have the self abusing US left condemning the Pastor for even suggesting it. Why, then are they not condemning the Muslims? Well, because the American Pastor and his followers won't blow-up a grade school in a sign of how peaceful a religion they are, and our ruling class is nothing but a bunch of yellow bellied bullies that can't stand up to anyone who would actually fight back.

You're right. Sadly, in Amerika it is apparently nearly as provocative an act to say, respectfully wash an American flag and then display it in public. Particularly on Cinco de Mayo.

Saw a great Flag on the back of a very big biker's leathers a few months back. The text around the flag said "Try burining this one a**hole" Made me smile, the image of some twig-armed "artist" trying to get that 270 lb+ guy's colors...

Its war, our leaders in Washington are too busy to notice that most of America declared war against Islam.

We are fed up and too smart to see what Islam really is, its our enemy.

It is war and this act is a weapon and we will not surrender our weapons.

If this was 1942 Walt Disney would have cartoons of Americans burning the Koran. There were many making a mockery of Hitler and his Mein Kampf.

We are at war with Islam, maybe some people still think they can just kneel down, get their gold and uniform in supplication to Xerxes(Islam) and they will be safe and alive, war will involve death and injuries, reality bites.

What are YOUR thoughts?
Good question.

Here are my thoughts:

1) it will never happen. The local police & fire will be on location & will immediately extinquish any fire set or close to setting that book on fire. Immediately afterwards, he’ll be arrested for risking a catastrophy, inciting a riot & given numerous citations.

This will immediately empower muslims worldwide to celebrate because they’ll look at it as they have won.

My personal feeling is this:
I’d prefer not to stoop down to their level.
Sure I’m fully aware of the bible burnings, stonings, beheadings & slaughter of innocents in the name of their God, but I’m also aware that much the same happened in the Old Testament too.

Is that not why Jesus was sent here to clean up that mess?

Likewise, my other feelings are this as I see things:
Everything Obama touches turns to sheet, & once we pull out of Iraq & Afganistan, that entire region will erupt into absolute chaos.
Things will take care of themselves IMO.

When we treat that book as sacred it makes it look like we think the book is valid. That only feeds their fanaticism. “See, even the infidels know the koran is the word of god”. Screw it. Every other group can get abused or joked about, muslims are not immune. Welcome to America.

“Why is he a nutjob?”

The same reason Fred Phelps is a nut job. Having a Church is a great responsibility. You are ambassadors to your community bringing it the Good News of Christ and living as an example. If the message you are relaying is one of hate and intolerance, you are no different than the ministers in the 1950’s who had a KKK robe in the closet at home.
