Critics of a Los Angeles school built on toxic soil are asking former Vice President Al Gore, after whom the school is named, to break his silence and condemn the location of the school before it opens next week.
The school, dubbed the Carson-Gore Academy after Gore and the late environmentalist Rachel Carson, who wrote about the dangers of chemical pesticides, has been under fire since officials discovered contaminated soil in the ground on which it was built. The soil has since been replaced.
But critics wonder why Gore has stayed mum on the environmental hazards they say are still lurking beneath the elementary school.

We named a commode in the latrine here for Al.
That's a terrible way to treat a commode.
Quite apropos for the school. Named after two self-serving frauds.............
I cannot think of anything more apt.
When it comes to Big Al’s inanities, I’m all in favor of there being “Silent Summer, Winter, and Fall” periods to tack onto the original “Silent Spring” (co-honoree Rachel’s “gift” to mankind). I can do without his lisping, patronizing Al “Gre-Gore-ian” chants...
Did they buy the property from algore? After all he was the single largest owner of toxic land in Tenn. Yup, uh-huh, back during the Clinton years. Newsmax did a terrific expose on it.
Reminds me of a longstanding joke my wife and I have about the bathrooms along the Garden State Pkwy or NJ Turnpike rest stops which always seem to be named after somebody:
“I think the next rest stop has The Barbra Streisand PeePee Place!”
Interesting background.
20 years? I’m guessing their original plans for Commodore 64’s, Apple 2C’s and 8-track tape players had to be revised.
(oops...giving away my age here...)
“But critics wonder why Gore has stayed mum on the environmental hazards they say are still lurking beneath the elementary school.”
Because he is preparing for his criminal defense and tort trials in Portland.
But critics wonder why Gore has stayed mum on the environmental hazards they say are still lurking beneath the elementary school.
Because he’s so desperate to have something named after him: he obviously fears that if he speaks out, the school might be torn down. What’s more important: Al Gore’s ego or the lives of innocent schoolchildren? His failure to speak out actually speaks volumes.
I think originally they were going to call it “Carson-Leno”, but Jay backed out at the last minute, and nobody remembered Jack Parr.
The Carson-Gore Academy Bedbugs?
Hey Emily, what did Algore have to say about his prize eco-terrorist pupil that attacked employees at the Discover Channel and had to be killed by the cops?
Dang!!! .... you mean she beat out The Princess Pelsoi Potty and the Maxine Waters Water Closet.
Do you live in Jersey? What exit? (I’m at Exit 7.)
Al Gore: “It’s for the children, after all”!!
If this isn’t proof of G-D has a sense of humor I don’t know what would!
always
I live in Allendale/ that’s near the Rockland County border
where Mahwah,,two towns N. of me, leads into Suffern at the end of the Franklin Tpke.
I think my exit is 163 that leads into Rte 17 N at Paramus.
