ANY ITEM that looks like a gun will have to be licensed under several changes to the Weapons Act being considered by the Queensland State Government.

Even guns made out of materials as unlikely as soap or plastic may have to be kept under lock and key if they could "reasonably be taken to be a weapon".

The draft act says an imitation is a "reasonable copy" of a weapon that is not capable of causing death or injury.

"If it looks like a gun and feels like a gun, it will have to be licensed," said a government source.

I agree. It appears that the entire world has lost its mind on the subject of “gun-shaped objects”.

Australia is the front runner in social engineering. We have to keep an eye on her.

Nothing more than a government under-cover tax. There is absolutely no reason to ‘lock up’ a ‘gun carved from soap’. This is purely a ploy to gain more taxes by making people pay a license fee for their kids pop-gun.

Unbridled government knows no limit. That is why the progressives have been chipping away at the constitutional structure in the USA for over 100 years so as to eliminate the limits our constitution places on government.

What about staple guns, or caulking guns, or trigger operated cookie presses?

Heaven forbid if someone has a 70’s Plymouth with a “pistol grip 4 speed!”

Its about time that these weapons of destruction were controlled. They should implement a full background check from any prospective owner.

Just to make sure they've made their beds and brushed their teeth twice a day.

Can we get the license packaged with the toy gun, like the adoption certificates that come with Cabbage Patch Kids?

Toy guns are as dangerous as real ones and should be registered. Its good for public health and safety. Think of all the people killed and wounded by these dangerous weapons...... er, nevermind.

In QUEENSLAND? That is the very last Australian state I would expect such idiocy from. Queensland is like the Texas of Australia.

The libs, in my opinion, really missed the boat when the whole airsoft craze started. They did get the “orange tip” requirement into law, but that’s not a really big deal. We don’t want a cop shooting a kid who’s playing airsoft in the woods with his buddies.

But, the deal with airsoft equipment is that it looks and feels like the real thing, minus recoil, etc. The weight, the size, the supporting equipment - all translate well to “the real thing”.

So, now, 10’s of thousands of “kids” are training in ops and tactics with comms equipment, gear, and guns. And the libs weren’t able to stop it.

boy, Monty Python was so on-target with all the skits from thirty years ago predicting that looney liberal bureaucracies would be the death of civilization. I could picture John Cleese and Michal Palin in the Aussie Toy Gun Registry Sketch right now.

I want to say hit him with a watermellon but I have a sneaking suspicion that ice cream and pinapple sauce would need to be used.

>>>”Australia is the front runner in social engineering. We have to keep an eye on her.”

Overall, Australia & the Australian population remain to be more conservative than the U.S., the U.K, and New Zealand as examples. But, religion & its influence on politics in Australia are much more separated than they are in the U.S. for example. For the latter, many American conservatives, Wrongly, even view their conservative Aussie counterparts as “socialist”. That simply is not true, but there are distinct cultural, social, economic & historical differences between U.S. & Australia. What works & has worked for Australia can not “clone” the U.S. version.

Mid-term elections coming up soon in the U.S. - better keep an eye on that one than worry about Australia.

The WASPs of the world have a genetic defect in the brain. They are all geared toward self destruction. Do we see this same idiotic behavior in Hispanics, Orientals, Indians, Blacks? I don’t think so. Political correctness is a white man’s terminal disease.
