Barbara Boxer aide charged with possession of pot

By: Erika Lovley September 8, 2010 03:25 PM EDT

A senior aide for Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) was arrested Tuesday for attempting to bring marijuana into the Hart Senate Office Building, according to U.S. Capitol Police reports.

Marcus Stanley, who served as a senior economic adviser and at one time worked on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee — chaired by Boxer — was stopped by a police officer Tuesday morning when he allegedly tried to “remove and conceal” a leafy green substance from his pocket during a security screening at the Constitution Avenue door of the Hart building around noon, according to a Capitol Police report.

Police confiscated the substance, which later tested positive for marijuana, and Stanley quickly resigned.

“Marcus Stanley is no longer with this office,” Boxer spokesman Zachary Coile told POLITICO. “He submitted his resignation, and Sen. Boxer accepted it because his actions yesterday were wrong and unacceptable.”

Hey, if I worked for her . . . I mean you need something to get through the day and reach her level of logic.

They should have hid it under the possum! Everybody assumes that's empty in there.

I'm reminded of my favorite line from the movie "Tequila Sunrise", when Kirk Russel's character (the cop) says...

"I tell my men to drink scotch and not vodka so the brass knows they're drunk, and not stupid."

If I had to work for that arrogant, vicious Botox Boxer, I would need to be seriously high 24/7.

Looks like “Call Me Senator” is going for the stoner vote.

This is not the first time a member of Boxer’s senior staff has been arrested. Senior policy adviser Jeffrey Rosato, who also worked on the EPW committee, was fired in 2008 after he was arrested and charged with the receipt and distribution of child pornography.

From the article.

Look at that salary the dude’s been pulling down. And I wonder if Stanley’s still with Case Western? If so, is he getting paid there as well?

Boxer should get the same treatment a Republican Senator would get if their staff were caught; whereas some "journalist" would jam a microphone in front of her face and scream, "What's your opinon on your Senior Staff member being caught with Marijuana going into the Hart office building, Senator?"....

LOL...she loses the pothead vote if she ridicules the conduct, and she loses the common sense vote if she condones it.

One can only assume Ms. Boxer is aware of her “senior” aid’s hobby. One could even assume Ms. Boxer also partakes. If one was a liberal one could assume many things.

This is a plant (sorry for the pun) to make Boxer look more appealing to Californians. Just like if one of Feinstein’s aides turned out to be gay.

How much you want to bet that one of his jobs... maybe his only job... was to be Boxer's "stash master," and to take the fall just like this if things went south.

It’s probably a campaign gimmick to garner more votes for Boxer.

You can bet that everyone involved, the cop who caught him, Boxer herself, all her staff members, the judges involved, attorneys—ALL of them know of a close friend or family member who are doing the same thing, but they get a free pass as the friend looks the other way. But when it’s someone “expendable,” they’ll just let them face the consequences and hope the government doesn’t find out what THEY are doing. We’re all breaking some law right this minute, we just don’t realize it yet.

It’s the ulitimate double standard in this country and people’s lives are needlessly ruined over an inanimate object. Now where is that flamesuit of mine?

Oprah should do a political biggest losers week before she goes off air.

Babs would be at the head of the list along with Reid and Castle.
