Leading banker jumped to his death after snorting cocaine at welcome home party

By Daily Mail Reporter

Last updated at 4:45 PM on 8th September 2010

A leading banker jumped to his death after snorting cocaine at a party thrown to welcome him back from abroad, an inquest heard today.

Neil McCormick plunged sixty feet and landed on rubble after he was spotted walking in circles and mumbling 'guys, don’t do this to me', the court heard.

Mr McCormick, who had used cocaine regularly since studying at Oxford University, moved to Hong Kong last September with his wife Diana and baby son.

In June, the 36-year-old head of Asia Equity derivatives at UBS returned home for a wedding. The day after the ceremony, friends held a barbeque in his honour.

But after treating himself to steak and a beer, the banker was seen by Connor Kelly, the owner of the house in Holland Park, west London, snorting a line of cocaine from a plate in the kitchen.

'The toxicology reports showed his blood contained metabolites of cocaine, 0.92 milligrammes per litre, which is above the normal recreational level. Recreational use is normally around the level of 0.6 mg per litre.

He was over the recreational limit. Open and shut case of jumping under the influence.

Idiot! UBS has millions stashed away in people’s 401ks and IRAs which they use to gamble the stock market at our expense. They collect a fat fee every time they make a trade, or produce a quarterly statement. Maybe this jerk was overcome by guilt.

Any guest who pulled a stunt like this in my house would be booted into the street and the police called.

“...walking in circles and mumbling ‘guys, don’t do this to me’...”

So, what is this all about?
I don’t think the cocaine use obscures this.

I don’t think so.

‘What’ was ‘who’ going to do to him?

What did this man know?

Bush’s fault.

Honestly, I have no sympathy for losers like this. His baby son was not worth staying clean for? Landing on a pile of rubble was poetick justice.

After going for a nap, Mr McCormick appeared confused before he went to the patio on the fourth floor and vaulted across some potplants on to scaffolding where he jumped to his death.

‘When he got up from his nap he came in, circling around the intermediate area between the sitting area and kitchen, circling around there mumbling to himself,’ said Mr Kelly, who claimed his friend had not always ‘reacted well’ to drugs.

‘I was concerned because he seemed upset. I know that Neil could get a little bit paranoid at times and he seemed a little bit paranoid,’ he said.

He walked around the room and then out onto the balcony... I followed him just to find out what was wrong.

[He didn’t respond when I called to him, and then I watched as he stepped one of his feet out onto the balcony.]

‘Just for the briefest moment he steadied himself before he stepped off.’

Actually you would have to search first. Upon finding no more party favors would anyone be called.

Whatever the merits, or lack thereof, of Mr. McCormick, I hope that God will take care of his wife and their baby son.

I have heard more than one say that the only thing wrong with cocaine is that there isn’t enough of it. Most of them are dead now.

Perhaps not, but a lot of IRAs and 401Ks are controlled by UBS. I’m sick of the way they manage mine, and I’m going to be making a change. Perhaps more than this guy are spending their time snorting coke.

Your post is 100% insightful. And note that now, just over a week later, this UBS bank has gone public about a $2 billion loss by a ‘rogue trader’ ....
