CNSNews.com) - In the first 19 months of the Obama administration, the federal debt held by the public increased by $2.5260 trillion, which is more than the cumulative total of the national debt held by the public that was amassed by all U.S. presidents from George Washington through Ronald Reagan.
The U.S. Treasury Department divides the federal debt into two categories. One is debt held by the public, which includes U.S. government securities owned by individuals, corporations, state or local governments, foreign governments and other entities outside the federal government itself. The other is intragovernmental debt, which includes I.O.U.s the federal government gives to itself when, for example, the Treasury borrows money out of the Social Security trust fund to pay for expenses other than Social Security

Next Washington to George W Bush and amount of debt beside their names. Next, George W. Bush with his accrued debt beside his name and last Obama with the debt accrued in only 2 years.

Bush’s wars are the problem
I blame Bush.
/sarc
yup and adding more...now they are going to bail out ups and screw fedx
Yup. it’s all bushes fault. Hillary came out about the debt today, and blamed bush. If the Pubs don’t find a way to get the message to the people like Reagan did, we’re screwed.
payoffs.
Advice to Obama: Prepare two letters...
He is a menace to our nation and damn near everyone living here.
We were given fair warning before the November 2008 election. 'Hope and Change' was the name of the game. 'Hope and Change' turned into 'Smoke and Mirrors!'
Obama bamboozled millions... gave them the old 'okee doke.' What a moron. He can have as extreme a views as he wants. But he can't transfer them and remake America with them.
Time to end the experiment brought on by the piss-steam media and the Bush derangement crowd.
“Bushs wars are the problem”
Would you please elaborate?
I’m not a fan of Bush’s fiscal policy, but he’s getting a bum rap.
“When President Barack Obama took the oath of office on Jan. 20, 2009, the total federal debt held by the public stood at 6.3073 trillion, according to the Bureau of the Public Debt, a division of the U.S. Treasury Department. As of Aug. 20, 2010, after the first nineteen months of President Obamas 48-month term, the total federal debt held by the public had grown to a total of $8.8333 trillion, an increase of $2.5260 trillion.”
That’s an awful big increase over such a short period of time. It’s over 2.5 thousand million in 19 months!

Who doesn’t have a problem with Bush?
Let’s see...
Had Bin Laden at Tora Bora - Bush agrees to cease-fire - Bin Laden escapes.
Bush pushes through the Patriot Act - he must be listening to Rahm as well.
Bush doesn’t veto all the garbage spending of the DEM controlled congress.
Bush pushes through TARP and says...”We had to abandon the principles of the free market to save the free market”.
Bush is a Progressive, just like McCain and just like Obama.
The real question...why don’t you have a problem with Bush?
I also had a few problems with Bush, but don’t blame him for everything that went wrong.
Yes the DEM’s bear just as much if not more responsibility for the things that have happened.
Unfortunately Bush is a big reason we have OZero and why the GOP has become the likes of Lindsay Graham, McCain and Michael Steele...what an embarrassment!!!
I wish people would read this before posting it. The title is very misleading. Obama has more than doubled the existing debt, which is bad enough.
But if you added up all the debt each president has incurred, without taking into account how much debt some of those presidents have paid down, Obama wouldn’t come close to exceeding it, like the title strongly suggests.
There are razors for that sort of thing.
Really?
Do you have a source to cite?
“Seems element92 has a serious problem with Bush.”
It seems that element92 has his/her own problems now.
Too bad we won’t get to see any other posts by him/her. ;o)
Did they change the Constitution and not tell us?
(Presidents don't "add more to the Public Debt" Congress do... Presidents "SIGN" bills... Congress "WRITEs" Bills...)
“Unfortunately Bush is a big reason we have OZero and why the GOP has become the likes of Lindsay Graham, McCain and Michael Steele...”
I think that is too simplisitic. I believe the voters in their respective states, and the GOP delegates, are the reason we have the likes of them. I know that the voters in my state, Oregon, are the reason we have the likes of Wyden and Merkely.
Sorry about that. ;o)
Presidents don't "create Debt" OR "Pay it down" the whole article is a misnomer.
Congress does the deed. Presidents sign the bill.
True...and splitting hairs...but because Obama signed the bills is why he should be ultimately held responsible...just as Bush is.
“Presidents sign the bill.”
Yes...that’s the ultimate responsibility thing...as in the buck stops here.

Ha! That is exactly what comes to my mind when I think of him.
That, and the Titanic...;o)
Excellent graphic, Phil!
Thank you for the ping!
Only because most Americans are clueless on how our government works.
Remember, Congress Can Write AND pass law without the President.
The President can only pass what is given Him. The Ultimate Responsibility is the Congress and they love it when people dump spending responsibility at the Presidents feet. Its their best weapon on getting reelected time and time again!
Too bad we wont get to see any other posts by him/her. ;o)
Looks like the element got the ZOT!!

To be added or removed from the VK list, FReepmail Darkwing104.
Oy. Have fun in Zotland.
No. It's idiots like YOU that are the problem
Ta-ta TROLL.
Have a nice Zot.
No the problem is...the GOP has allowed non-conservative candidates onto the ballot in areas where they didn’t think a conservative candidate could win.
Instead of working on grass roots programs that educate the population in liberal areas to the facts of reality they decide well let’s get a RINO in office better than not having one.
Gee how has that stupid idea worked out?
Sorry about that :)
A + bro!
the money spent on the wars is hardly added to the debt and still less than what this bozo the clown has spent.
Still facts never get in the way for their little slogans do they?
just looked at your past posts and you’ve got some serious BDS pal, Hell you need to seek mental help and quick
Oh, go back to DU. You sound like the Pretender in Chief.
He go “BOOM!”
His stimulus cost more than the seven years of Af/Iraq.
“Remember, Congress Can Write AND pass law without the President.”
Really? Will those laws go into effect without the President signing them?
“The President can only pass what is given Him.”
That was my original point.
BTW...why did you give Obama the capital H, and more godly, “Him”?
“The Ultimate Responsibility is the Congress and they love it when people dump spending responsibility at the Presidents feet. Its their best weapon on getting reelected time and time again!”
There are three sides to governing...as I’m sure you know. Unfortunately, two and a half sides of this current government are too far to the left.
Most likely voters know the responsibilities of each of the three sides of government, and I think you are giving us Country Class people short shrift.
IOW...we’re not dumb.
“Its their best weapon on getting reelected time and time again!”
Not this time...the Country Class hates the congress.
God love you...you are flying the Florida flag! I love Florida...used to live in P’cola and Dunedin at different times in my life, but I grew up spending alot of time on the beautiful Redneck Riviera...my favorite spot of land and gulf on earth. ;o)
Frankly...I think each state should determine who their candidates are...even if I hate them.
So should you...
Sorry about that...;o)
Yes, google "overriding a veto"
Google “veto proof congress”.
