To Burn or Not to Burn the Koran (Global Backlash an Islamist Psyop?)
Human Events ^ | Thursday, September 9, 2010 | Connie Hair

Posted on 09/09/2010 8:34:48 AM PDT by kristinn

U.S. State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley this week equated an obscure Florida pastor and his congregants who plan to burn copies of the Koran on Saturday with the Muslim terrorists who killed thousands of Americans on September 11, 2001.

“[T]here are a balance of interests here. But this, in our view, has the potential to inflame public opinion around the world in a way that will jeopardize American lives and American interests. It does not represent our core values as Americans. We hope it does not happen. We hope that between now and Saturday, there’ll be a range of voices across America that make clear to this community that this is not the way for us to commemorate 9/11. In fact, it is consistent with the radicals and bigot -- with those bigots who attacked us on 9/11,” Crowley said in his briefing on Tuesday. (h/t Kristinn)

Charming.

Whether you believe people have the right to burn the Koran or not, the issue of the threat to American lives reflected in Crowley’s remarks requires greater scrutiny.

Since 2005, every Muslim country -- including our coalition partners -- through the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) has signed off on a “10-Year Programme of Action” (10-Year Plan) that, among other things, seeks to define slander according to Islamic Sharia law -- making Islamic “slander” a serious crime in every jurisdiction in the world, including the United States.

Through “hate speech” legislation, the notion of Islamic “slander” has already taken hold in Europe. Once such instance is the case of Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders who is currently on trial for hate speech. He was denied expert witness testimony to assert the truth of claims he made about Islam.

The Dutch court instead stipulated to the truth-of-all-the-facts-of-the-matter when the court stated, in language that aligns with Islamic notions of “slander,” that: “It is irrelevant whether Wilders’ witnesses might prove Wilders’ observations [about Islam] to be correct, what’s relevant is that his observations are illegal.”

It doesn’t matter what’s true; the court says speaking truth in regard to Islam is illegal in the Netherlands because it may incite violence.

In 2009 the U.N. Human Rights Council passed a resolution (without a vote), submitted by the Obama administration, which would subordinate U.S. free speech rights to U.N. oversight standards. These standards mirror the OIC’s 10-Year Plan objectives.

Imposing the Islamic notion of “slander” in the Western world through hate speech legislation is very real. And very dangerous.

Four months after the publication of the infamous Danish cartoons of Muhammad, imams began a worldwide disinformation campaign (some creating three of the most objectionable cartoons themselves) for the purpose of inciting violence.

The threat that Muslims will self-radicalize and kill is at the very heart of the OIC campaign to squelch free speech regarding Islam when issues such as the proposed Koran burning are manipulated for that purpose. Western cultural “elites” are targeted to deem the free speech inappropriate thereby facilitating a cultural dilution of our commitment to free speech principles over time.

In the Koran burning iteration of the information campaign, there appears to be a coordinated media message including tie-ins to the Ground Zero mosque, Christian clergy condemning the pastor’s activities as “unchristian” to satisfy Muslim sensitivities, the State Department comparing the pastor to the 9/11 terrorists (an American citizen exercising his protected free speech rights inside America, mind you), and the U.S. Army Commanding General in Afghanistan injecting himself into Constitutional free speech issues by allocating blame for future acts of Islamic-based terrorism to Americans.

All we have to do is keep them happy and the jihadis will remain “moderate”? Sounds like an organized crime protection racket.

Coordinated OIC information attacks are designed to elicit submission to the OIC standard in just this way.

The subordination of First Amendment rights to Islamic law under threat of lethal jihadi attacks should be understood to be a declaration of hostility by those making the demands.

This is not just about a small town church preacher.

The preacher’s plan to burn Korans hit the radar screen of most Americans because they heard about the Muslim threat of concerted retaliatory violence. How is it that these groups around the Muslim world were protesting this small-town rural American preacher at the same time on the same issue? Seem a bit too coordinated? Contrived?

A staged protest of Afghanis pressured General Petraeus to comment on the planned actions of a private citizen inside the United States. Is the General saying it becomes more difficult to defeat the enemy if the enemy gets mad at us?

Was this a coordinated informational attack like the manufactured cartoon crisis, making clear to the world the objecting Muslims retain the right to kill the Florida preacher if he does not stand down?

I think so.

OIC “slander” campaigns are calibrated against issues like the preacher’s Koran burning protest or the cartoons of Muhammad. And they will always be about getting elites in the West to support Islamic standards of “free speech” against their own interests.

I don’t care for this creepy preacher.

His actions were ill-advised.

BUT:

1. The “moderate” iman went on CNN last night and threatened that there would be violence if the Victory Mosque is not permitted on Ground Zero.

2. This preacher has received serious death threats from known terrorists who have stated their intent to send suicide bombers to his church.

Long and short, it’s too late to back down, or you are caving to violent threats, and encourging the muslims to make more.

Muslims are bullies.

Sometimes you have to poke them in the face to get them to stand down.

Wrap a Pork Shoulder with pages torn from the Koran, use the remainder to start the charcoal.

Cook at a low heat, add Misquite or Apple Wood to the charcoal, and cook at 275 for 6 hours. Spice rub the shoulder, and loosely wrap in the Koran - the paper will slowly brown and add a smokey flavor to the meat, which will blend wonderfully with the misquite or Apple wood.

Serve with bread, beer and BBQ sauce of your choice. After you have feasted and drank your 3-6 beers, you may put the rest of the Koran out in the most efficient manner you can think of.

This is particularly relevant and horrible when you combine it with this...(from a previous posting)

There is no such thing as moderate Islam.

All knowingly subscribe to Sharia which is a pillar of their societal structure.

When the founding fathers thought of America, their little baby, the last thing they wanted was an invasive force to stifle, smother it, and then overwhelm it and kill it.

Most people do not recognize that what happens in a mosque is sedition. Pure and simple. Islam is not just a “religion”, it is a cult. Larger than that though, it is a political system, it is it’s own government, a economic system (which includes funding new mosque construction), its judicial...all wrapped up in the word sharia. This is inclusive of its military (jihadis) all rolled into one with one intent ...and that is to rule wherever they take root. It is a invasive, systemic infection looking to take over the host once it has quantum.

This is not just a “religion”, but something that cloaks itself in those terms so it should not be given the same treatment contemplated under the first amendment. The Korans Sharia rules are to consume whatever government there is wherever it goes.
Islam is political, and it’s goal is to supplant and replace. Globally.

When the founding fathers thought of America, their little baby, the last thing they wanted was an invasive force to stifle, smother it, and then overwhelm it and kill it.

The sooner America learns this , the better. Some know and many do not, but it is a threat to everything America knows.

Obama? Obama and Company? Should be tried for treason in this issue for promoting the establishment of a foreign government on our soils. He is doing nothing to protect America as per his oath. Also, as a Muslim, he knows this, he know far better, he knows sharia, but is looking to deceive America.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we stopped going after gangs in the cities because it might cause violence. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we stopped our military from being the most powerful in the world because it might cause violence. People that profess this kind of stuff are just cowards in their own skin.

If nothing else comes of this controversy at least it exposed the incredible double standards of this administration ,of Islam and of the media. Freedom of speach ( Quran burning ) is legal. The Mosque at ground zero is legal too. Why are they working so hard to stop one and not the other?

All I want is reciprocity:

Build a mosque at ground zero, after a church and a synagogue are built in Mecca.
Burn the koran until Saudi Arabia allows Bibles to be sold in Riyadh.

We have been tolerant for over 200 years. They have never been tolerant. Let's switch it around -- the US should not tolerate the death cult of islam until the islamic countries tolerate us. We went first for 200 years; now its their turn.

Whatever else you might say about the good reverend he has certainly exposed the hypocrisy and double standards of America's enemies, both the Left and the radical Muslims! And he's certainly shown just how reflexive the Left’s drive to appease really is.

I think he might be between a rock and a hard place now, but for a heretofore absolutely unknown pastor of a small church in Florida he has brought a lot of light to bear on those who are not lovers of America.

I have no idea how this will all turn out, but we've sure learned a lot about those who are a real and present danger to the America we've known and loved.

Funny how they never worry about the backlash of hacking the heads off Americans or flying planes in to our buildings.

If burning a book causes you to kill others, then I would say YOUR religious values are what is in question here.

There is a long list of things we cannot do because it may offend a muslim, but we are NEVER afforded the same tolerance.

I could care less if a book gets burned. I have to grit my teeth and take it why my religion is trashed.

Welcome to America where freedom means you will at some point be offended and there is not a damn thing you can do about it.

Instead of a "Burn a Koran" day, why not a "Buy the Koran Day"....and let everyone wonder what we're doing with all those cheap paperbacks on our own private property.

Ann Coulter said it wisely, that this provocation is unkind to those Muslims who wish us no harm. I agree.

But... I am intrigued with all that's swirling around this objectionable, but lawful, expression of Free Speech. Where's the ACLU? The behavior of US Muslims is very instructive. We should fear Shariah more than the "religion" of Islam. As soon as we define Islam as an ideology hostile to the American way of life, the better.

Oh boy what a double-standard, the hypocrisy! They are protected by free speech when they burn our flag but this pastor is not?
Have ya heard the latest from the imam behind a proposed Islamic community center and mosque near ground zero? He's using the same "threat" of violence when he "cautioned that moving the facility could cause a violent backlash from Muslim extremists and endanger national security"

What horsesh*t! Now, we're going to be silenced because of the fear that the radicals will get pissed off. I say the State Dept. should tell them as soon as they stop trampling and burning our flag and/or Bible we'll reciprocate.

Americans don’t have to love the protestor in every instance, but we do have to protect the right of free speech in every instance. If we fail to do that, we will lose another huge chunk of our constitution.

The UN is trying to make it a crime of hate speech to speak out against or resist Islamic dominance. They are doing it in the name of “peace” and our elite are on board with it. We can’t stand by and let what has happened to the Euro-peons happen to us.

Global Backlash an Islamist Psyop?

Of course it is. There's a headline on FR right now (I haven't read it yet) that says,"INTERPOL issues global alert for increased terror threat if Koran is burned."

The US President (such that he is), the US State Dept, the Pope, etc. All saying the burning should not happen. Geeze, let's see who else we can get to jump on board.

Wait! I know... how 'bout some Hollywood celebrities? Ohhh, that's right Angelina whats-her-name already came out antiburning.

The Islamist buggers are madly stroking this (sorry about your mind's eye :-) for all it's worth.

Wonder how Thomas Sowell feels about this? Anybody Know?

Promoting the burning of someone’s holy book, whether we believe in it or not, is not right morally. There is no wisdom in burning or fouling a holy book when the believers in question are radical. This is not the way to fight Islam. This incident has put our troops in more danger.

If you care for our troops, then you can’t be for this.

Saudi Arabia Desecrates Hundreds of Bibles Annually (Saudi Institute Friday, 20 May 2005 by Zachary Liben)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1410190/posts

Posted on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 10:07:42 AM by paltz

Washington DC - The Saudi government burns and desecrates hundreds of bibles its security forces confiscate after raids on Christian expatriates worshiping privately or at border crossings.
As a matter of official policy, the government either incinerates or dumps bibles, crosses and other Christian paraphernalia.

Hundreds of Christian worshipers are arrested every year by Saudi police in raids on their private gatherings. Bibles, crosses and printed materials are confiscated and later burnt or dumped into trash. Bibles and other Christian paraphernalia found with travelers into the country are confiscated and destroyed.

Although considered as holy in Islam and mentioned in the Koran dozens of times, the Bible is banned in Saudi Arabia, and is confiscated and destroyed by government officials.

Not quite right. The bullies are following the law according to the book

The subordination of First Amendment rights to Islamic law under threat of lethal jihadi attacks should be understood to be a declaration of hostility by those making the demands.

The idea of burning the Islamic holy book is stupid and apparently in violation of local fire prevention laws. They should not do it.

Rather, one hundred lashes and stoning the books would be a better symbolic gesture and more appropriate. The linked video suggests the appropriate costumes to wear.

Yes, as there are millions who cheered in the streets who simply lack the courage of their convictions, mothers who raise kids to homicide bombings, families who take financial gain from honor killings .

The Koran orders it. Pure and simple
