Nathan Deal quickly sheds Facebook friendship with ‘birther’ attorney

The campaign of Nathan Deal says the Republican nominee for governor shed “birther” attorney Orly Taitz as a Facebook friend this morning, within minutes of finding out who she was.

Taitz is the infamous attorney – the term is used loosely — who has persuaded a handful of military personnel, including officers, to resist overseas deployment on the fiction that Obama is a non-citizen and thus ineligible to be president and commander-in-chief.

She’s currently fighting a $20,000 fine imposed last year by a federal judge in Columbus.

On Wednesday, Taitz posted the following on her web site:

If you recall, on my birthday, when I was getting hundreds of birthday greetings on Facebook, my access to my own Facebook page was blocked by Facebook.

I started a new page. Within a few days nearly 300 people signed up as my friends on my new page. More community leaders are joining. Congressman Nathan Deal joined my new page today.

Brian Robinson, spokesman for Deal, said that Taitz requested friendship status with the Deal campaign Facebook page – and was confirmed amid a large batch of other requests. But Robinson said that a campaign worker alerted him to just who Taitz was, and that she was “unfriended” immediately – before a call rolled in from the Insider an hour or so ago.

“We are not friends with her,” Robinson said.

Deal has been much criticized for, while still a member of Congress, putting his signature to a letter sent to President Barack Obama, urging him to disclose more documentation regarding his birth. The state of Hawaii has consistently stated there is no question that Obama was born on American soil.

Nathan Deal or Roy Barnes? It is a no-brainer.
Deal has my vote. He has had it since he put his hat in the ring. He has represented us well.

The last thing Georgia needs is another round of Roy Barnes. Roy is playing dirty.

It could be that Obama doesn’t have a birth cert.

Taitz is quixotic, maybe even a crank and certainly not a skilled lawyer, BUT that does not mean that she is wrong in her allegations.

You are probably right. They don't issue them if you were born in a mud hut in kenya.

She certainly is willing to fight for our Country. She, IMHO, is just trying to expose what the 0 is so determined to hide.

You haven’t shed birther attorney Orly Taitz as a Facebook friend, have you?

Heck no.

Orly is coming by tomorrow to help with my incorporation paperwork.

And to make me a pie.

Odd, is it not? He could set the whole thing to rest simply by producing the original birth certificate. Or could he?

Unless someone has lived through a King Roy administration, they cannot even imagine how bad it was. I know this...Barnes will march lock, stock and barrel with Obama.

I was born at CWL in 1950. I have lived in Georgia and I know KRR, but I still maintain my skepticism of the curious resignation and surrounding questions re Nathan, who has been my Congressman, by the way.

Hi neighbor.. :-)
Crawford Long? Wow, that takes me back. I will defer to your skeptism. I confess to being ignorant regarding the facts of the ethics investigation. I will strive to learn more.

Could be nothing to it. Don’t know, just suspicious. I will still vote for him because I definitely know what Snidely Roy is.

If all this stuff indeed be nonsense, then I cant believe a Commander in Chief would enjoy seeing his military people criminally prosecuted over his refusal to show his long form birth certificate. But obviously Obama enjoys it and sees some perverse political gain that is to be preferred over the lifes and careers of good military men.

Not likely.

A release of the “Long form” BC, no matter how well authenticated, would be said by many to be fake.

Moreover many (if not most) birthers maintain that so long as the father listed is Barrack Sr. (a non-citizen of the USA) then 0bama is not a natural born US citizen.

So the hue and cry that ‘for $20 this could all go away’ is delusional and best, and disingenuous at worst.

It would not matter so much if Obama had not spent most of his youth living outside the United States. Hawaii is really as far removed from the Mainland culturally as Samoa. Or if his mother were not really an expatriate. Intellectually, emotionally, culturally he is totally different from someone like Harold Ford Jr. as it is possible to imagine. When I think that a few thousand votes deprived Ford of a seat in the Senate, the same year that Obama was elected, I am amazed that someone as alien as Obama was able to pretend that he is an American, not much different from Ford. The only thing that grounds him in American culture at all is his marriage.

For me the frightening thing is that the American culture he immersed himself in was white left wing radicalism a la the Weather Underground with Ayers and Dorn and Black Liberation Theology with the Rev Wright.
