In a bold move that is likely to be much discussed in coming days, Fox News said today that it will not cover the burning of the Quran on Saturday if Pastor Terry Jones follows through on his plan to burn copies of Islam's sacred book.
The proposed book burning by the Florida minister and his congregation has become a topic of heated conversation and coverage with everyone from President Barack Obama to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and two generals weighing in.

Good for Fox News.
I am not proud of what is going on today, we look like a bunch of pussies of here in America. Waa Waa. Dont do it, please, theyll hurt us. grrrr.
Wimps, the AP says they won’t cover it either, but, they forget that people have cellphone cameras and can upload pics to youtube where millions and millions of people will see them.
Good. Nobody should be giving this nutjob any coverage.
No matter, CNN will broadcast it. MSNBC will loops it, and innocents abroad will suffer the consequences.
But giving one or two pastors an international platform for book-burning? Ridiculous.
Good for FOX news.
Mustn’t offend the effdendis. Muslims burning Bibles, American flags or Americans is apparently OK..
No need for the media to cover a 50-member church. It’s just some folks getting together to immolate some of their own property and make a statement. It’s the Muslim supporters who want to make a big thing out of it for their own purposes.
Bet they will cover the headchoppers murdering, burning flags and bodies, and protesting.
Perhaps they’re worried about their soldiers overseas as well.
doesn’t matter if the preacher burns the koran or not
Die at the guillotine with a smile on your face, dhimmis.
hey it’s not news really, the thing is being blown WAY out of proportion
Good for Fox.
The best way to deal with a teapot tempest is to add sugar and drink up.
Yup. a good call on Fox part.
They have been covering the story. I don't think it's a big enough story where we need live coverage and 24X7 commentary on it.
One or two individuals burning a Koran deserves national/international coverage?
Don't think so. This is far from a widespread sentiment. Why pretend it should be a top story?
The “Unafraid” network now says its not newsworthy??
The Vatican, INTERPOL, President, Pentagon and a million others have announced their thoughts on it but its now not even news???
They’ll probably cover some event at the Playboy mansion instead.
Do they promise not to cover Flag burning and Bible burning as well?
I just realized I have been to that Church. Bought some furniture from them a few years ago.
If the press had not made such a big thing about this one little guy burning a koran, no one whould know about it.
This is just ANOTHER incident of a media driven story.
Fox News/News Corp’s biggest shareholder is the King of Saudi Arabia’s nephew.
ALL 6 TV networks have SSaudi or Islamic shareholders or joint venture partners.
Okay...then why does every flag burning get coverage? How come every time they walk on our flag they get coverage? Every Imam gets coverage when they chant “death to america” and more.
I say cover it. Were stronger than those idiots who hate us and we are better than they are and it needs to be shown that this idiot in Florida no more hurts them than their flag burning hurts us. What DOES hurt us is their war against us that has been raging since our founding. Islam knows no way to be a peace with its enemies.
Another thought though... is -24bam escalating this whole thing by talking about it his attempt at an October surprise?
This ridiculous group wants the news coverage....all cultural Marxism wants to divide and create hatred and division. By ignoring this “non” event, which should have happened when they “announced” this, it would have died with a very few people even knowing about it.
Of course, the Marxists in control of our government is blasting this all over the news for a reason—to create a “victim” so they get the ground zero mosque or whatever.
Where was their outrage at the burning of bibles or their outrage for the crucifix in urine subsidized by ignorant taxpayers, etc. Of course, in the Alice in Wonderland world, we protect the “religion of no tolerance” and destroy the religions that promote true peace.
All just falling in line with Marxist/Muslim bambi’s agenda....
Can one of you wonderful Freepers tell me at what time this will take place?
This whole thing has been quite illuminating on many, many levels.
But don't let the truth get in the way of your jihad against TV news! ;)
They cover Lindsey Lohan and Tiger Woods..
Good. The guy’s an idiot trying to get attention for his so-called church.
No reputable media source would!
That sends a message to all the Muslims of the world.
The Americans are as easily intimidated as the western Europeans.
They are doing exactly what the mainstream media does to Tea Party rallies.
So will Fox pull Family Guy too?
Good for them.
Really, the biggest? Does his 7% make him the biggest shareholder, I think you are stretching the truth.
This story is being driven by the Leftist media and the Jihadists. They both need a cause celebre. The Leftist media will characterize the pastor as being representative of conservative Christians, Tea Party people. The Jihad crowd has another reason to burn American flags or bomb the US.
Do you honestly think is a very honorable thing, to burn that book?
I think I will burn a Koran tonight.
Does anybody want to interview me?
Fox’s Saudi masters have spoken.
Now that’s smart
Unless they don’t want to. Not the same as having it in the news along with other stuff that you would watch. Good call for the both of them.
I wonder if it would be PC to post a cartoon of muhammed roasting a pig over a burning koran?
