GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The minister of a Florida church said he has canceled plans to burn copies of the Quran because the leader of a much-opposed plan to build an Islamic Center near ground zero has agreed to move its location. The agreement couldn't be immediately confirmed.

The Rev. Terry Jones said Thursday that Americans oppose the mosque being built at the location and that Muslims do not want the Quran burned. He said instead of his plan to burn the books on Saturday to mark the ninth anniversary of 9/11, he will be flying to New York to speak to Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf about moving the mosque.

"We are, of course, now against any other group burning Qurans," Jones said during a news conference. We would right now ask no one to burn Qurans. We are absolutely strong on that. It is not the time to do it."

Makes you wonder what those FBI agents promised to do... If he DID burn the Korans.

And what they promised the IRS agents were going to (not) do if he did NOT burn the Korans.

It was all about gaining publicity for his 50 member church.

Now he will look like a hero when the Islamists have their riots as planned.

The muzzies will never let an opportunity to kill infidels go.

Question. Does a Muslim have to honor an agreement made with an “infidel?”

Observation. If the Mosque is really being moved...this little church just embarassed President Obama and countless others. There has got to be a lesson to be learned here...but I’m not sure what it is.

If this pastor really believes they’ll move the mosque, he’s an even bigger idiot than I thought.

If he got a Muslim pilot he might not even need cab fare to go directly to the site...

"I asked him three times, and I have witnesses," Jones said. "If it's not moved, then I think Islam is a very poor example of religion. I think that would be very pitiful. I do not expect that."

I sure hope he had that video taped....I don't expect the Imam to hold his end of the bargain....

The Imam that promised to move the NYC mosque is from Central Florida. As far as I can tell, he has nothing to do with the NYC mosque.

All he probably did was promise that he would try to convince the guy(s) in NYC to move it.

Afghans have already burned the American flag in pre-retaliation for the Pastor's threat. It would be proper for American's not associated with this Pastor to take appropriate action.

Almost certainly Pastor Jones realizes that burning the Koran condemns him and other Westerners to death by fatwa. He would spent the rest of his life looking over his shoulder and he knows it. The enemy plays rough and for keeps. Likely the FBI discussed his potential lifespan with him.

He sure ran like hell, didn’t he. What does that say about his belief that God will protect him and if not will take him to Heaven?

On another note, I’d not want to be on the same airplane as this guy on his way to NY. What does that say about my faith? hee hee
