Burning The Quran
Investor's Business Daily ^ | September 10, 2010 | Investors Business Daily staff

Hypocrisy: When the U.S. Army burned Bibles in Afghanistan, no one said a word. When churches burn around the world, crickets chirp. Burning Qurans in Florida is stupid and offensive, but so is the double standard.

When President Obama gave a speech at Georgetown University, a Catholic institution, he asked that all images and symbols representing Jesus Christ be covered so as not to be in the frame of any videos or photos of the event. There were no reports of rioting.

Nor did Christians riot when Christian U.S. Army soldiers attempted to hand out Bibles to Afghans in their native language. The soldiers were stopped, and the Bibles were confiscated and burned with the daily trash.

We do not endorse book burning or the burning of the holy book of any religion. We'd advise Pastor Terry Jones of the 50-member Dove World Outreach Center against going through with his planned Quran burning on Saturday, Sept. 11, the day the World Trade Center and the people inside burned in 2001.

I’ll say it again, after spending the sums they have to erect two regimes in which Christianity isn’t even legal while ignoring major persecution of Christians in the world, the federal government has no standing to cry over any sort of koran burning in America.

I’ve posted this before:

IMHO, Sharia law, since it advocates putting in place, through violence if necessary, a governmental model that is diametrically opposed to ours, should be outlawed.

There’s freedom of speech and then there’s overthrow of the US government.

It’s not a religion and if it were it would still be okay to burn their holy book. In this case it’s okay to burn their war manual.

When the DEVOUT MUSLIM President Obama gave a speech at Georgetown University, a Catholic institution, he asked that all images and symbols representing Jesus Christ be covered so as not to be in the frame of any videos or photos of the event.

This is to prevent pictures being posted on the Internet that might give the impression that he is not a DEVOUT MUSLIM.

I have a copy of the Quran. It never occurred to me to burn it until now.

A couple of things percolating just below the surface of all this is the simple fact that Islam is incompatible with individual freedom and democracy and the US constitution. Muslim are going berserk over the possibility that someone might burn some Korans. What they refuse to accept is that they cannot come into a free nation and demand that free citizens respect and observe their religious beliefs and prohibitions that are in no way against the law.

The other thing is the ever present threat of violence from Muslims whose hypersensitive pysches are so easily offended. There were many death threats to the “Everybody Draw Mohammed” organizer, and to this pastor, and to several entertainers who schedule concerts in Israel. Muslims are always ready to threaten riots and pass along death threats to those who don’t avoid all behaviors that might offend them.

Muslims are incapable of respecting the freedoms and beliefs of others, and should not be living in free societies - one of the West’s greatest mistakes ever.

They behave like pack animals.

“My message to the Christian community in Malaysia,” Rauf said in reaction, “is that using the word Allah to mean the Christian God may be theologically and legally correct, but in the context of Malaysia, it is socially provocative. If you want to have influence with people in Malaysia, you must find a way to convey your message without provoking this kind of response.”

Yeah, it’s always the other guy’s fault when it comes to Muslim sensibilities (if there were such a thing)

Rauf just needs to keep opening his mouth. This guy is very slick but he can’t help himself as he’s a serious Islamist. Keep the spotlight on him and let him freewheel.

I hope Jones keeps hammering on Rauf and makes him stand up and explain why he’s not amenable to a reasonable offer to move the mosque and stop the bloodshed on the part of Rauf’s co-religionists. The more he talks, the more he exposes Islam’s motives and agenda.

Agreed.
I'm against the book burning - but any 'philosophy/way of life/cult' based on the koran/hadith should not be covered by the First Amendment. The Brits in the mid-1800s did not condone the practice of the Thuggee 'religion', and civilizations that desire to survive should not condone a religion based on the koran/hadith. These books exhort its followers to overthrow and destroy those that don't join their club...

The “sissification” of America, started by Pat “Tailhook” Schroeder, is finally complete. A nut job gets his 5 minutes of glory on TV and we crap our pants! What a pathetic bunch of sorry asses we have become. We can put the crucifix in a bottle of urine and call it art and it is PRAISED. We can burn our flag and say it is constitutionally protected. We can ban the name of Jesus in Navy prayer and the bible in the military. BUT, let’s not offend Muslims? NUTZ!!

Listening to Rusty Humphries tonight. Apparently Rev. Terry Jones went to Cape Girardeau High School with Rush. Just wait ‘til the leftists get hold of that...

You know, that’s a good point. The Constitution does not endorse its own destruction. Not even if the attacker cloaks itself in the guise of a religion.

Any religion or group that’s so intolerant as to threaten mass violence and mass murder over the burning of a book, doesn’t belong anywhere in America.

My middle-ground offering was to have the church simply read the Koran out loud for a day. Here are some wonderful suras:

5:33 - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides..."

8:12 - "Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their fingertips off them."

And then there is this wonderful bit from the Hadith:

Ibn Ishaq 764 - After amassing a powerful army, Muhammad sent his forces to take the peaceful farming community of Khaybar by surprise. In the aftermath, he was dissatisfied with the amount of plunder and felt that the town’s treasurer, Kinana, might be holding out on him. He had the man brought to him:

When he [Muhammad] asked him about the rest he refused to produce it, so the apostle gave orders to al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam, “Torture him until you extract what he has.” So he kindled a fire with flint and steel on his chest until he was nearly dead. Then the apostle delivered him to Muhammad bin Maslama and he struck off his head.”

Maybe something was just lost in translation because Islam is the religion of peace.

Burning the Koran is a bad idea. Putting the Koran in a big clear jar of urine surrounded by Robert Mapplethorpe photographs is art.

I’d say, Zero, how ‘bout you READ the Koran on TV for all to hear?
