We are discussing Engineering degrees. They are not handed out like BA's.
Most blue collar types are like little bully children, and act accordingly. I know the type and how to handle them. Without a set of plans they are lost. Too bad they can't follow them. They aren't suggested plans, they are THE plans that HAVE To BE FOLLOWED.
I know what an engineering degree is. I was commenting on the part of the comment stating "University Degrees," in general.

Recent engineering graduates don't like to be taught how to do things according to standards either.
It's a sign of the times, breakdown of family values/education, public schools and the me me me syndrome.
Hire people to work for me, I expect them to do it my way or tell me up front why it can't be done my way. I don't want to operate heavy machinery, thought I could learn If I wanted to, I'm sure. If I can learn to fly aircraft I am sure a cat is not going to be that hard.
Engineers have a job to do, just like you. They are responsible when things go wrong, not the escalator crew that moved on months ago.
