NRA Nevada endorsements betray Angle and gun owners
Gun Rights Examiner ^ | September 11, 2010 | David Codrea

The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund has released its grades and endorsements for the 2010 election in Nevada. Absent from their assessment: one of the most important campaigns in the country, the United States Senate race between incumbent Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D) and challenger Sharron Angle (R). (Click here to review NRA-PVF grades and endorsements.)

We know NRA announced it will not endorse Reid based on his support confirming anti-gun Supreme Court justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. We also know at the time one of their PR flacks said they would not be endorsing anyone in the race, and I pegged that as "weaselly equivocation."

Why?

As a state-level candidate, NRA gave Angle an "A."

At the same time, NRA gave Reid a "B."

In every grading system I've ever seen, "A" wins.

So how does NRA reward that? By giving the Reid campaign thousands of dollars.

Well, the NRA must think that Angle has no chance. Pretty presumptuous.

I surprised they didn't endorse Reid.

It'll be a while before they get more money from me.

The NRA also supported the Disclose Act. They are part of the ruling elite. They have been bought off.

They and the gun-grabbers form a symbiotic two backed beast. Neither could get nearly the contributions if the other didn’t exist to stir up the fear among the faithful.

I’m pretty sure the NRA intended to endorse Reid, but when the pushback came from members they knew they had a problem. I’m guessing Cox called Reid and that Cox said something along these lines:

“Senator, we really wanted to publicly endorse you, but the neanderthal hillbilly members of our organization threatened mutiny, so we can’t. But, rest assured that we won’t be endorsing Angle either.”

In summary, they haven’t PUBLICLY endorsed Reid, but privately they pretty much have.

The NRA is a corrupt organization that is in the tank for Big Government, their resistants to small government folk is not surprising.

Just as they are similarly resistant to state nullification efforts. Their game is for power and influence in a powerful imperial Washington D.C. Not gun rights, Not Constitutional law, and certainly not freedom.

On the other hand, the NRA knows that Angle has a shot at winning and their endorsement might leave her open to be labeled as a kook by the state run, liberal “media”.

Lobbyist aka as Chris W. Cox. They only worry about their own power. NRA dies on to the next victim. This happens every time a group turns over control to professionals.

Your post would be libelous if it wasn't so obviously ludicrous.

Why don't you tell Chuck Norris, Robert K. Brown, Ted Nugent and the other patriotic members of the NRA Board of Directors how corrupt and in the tank for big government they are? I'm sure their response would be quite interesting if not downright debilitating.

It's time for every Conservative in America to pull their NRA Membership and join the GOA (Gun Owners of America).

Whatcha wanna bet that these guys will NOT be on the Board of Directors, or even members, of the NRA this time next year? They have balls. Something that Wayne LaPierre and Chris W. Cox need to grow.

I'm afraid the 4.3 million NRA members will not be adding much to the few hundred thousand members of the GOA. The NRA Board of Directors is full of powerful, conservatives who exercise a great deal of political clout and who have been quite successful in preserving our 2nd Amendment rights, which is what they are in business to do.
