This week Jews across America celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and received holiday greetings from our President that were remarkable for their offensive preachiness. Beyond a perfunctory wish for a sweet New Year, Jews got a lecture on the Two State solution. American Jews were told this is a time to repent, think of those in need, embrace diversity, cultivate humility and compassion, move beyond differences with the Palestinians, and choose the Two State solution.
Not a single word of praise for Judaism or American Jews. Not one. For that matter, after the first sentence, the word Jew does not appear, and Judaism is not mentioned by name at all. Obama doesn’t seem to like speaking about Jews or Judaism. (In his Ramadan message which is one hundred words shorter, the words Muslim and Islam are used seven times.)
For the sake of comparison, look at President George Bush’s 2001 message , or President Reagan’s superb Rosh Hashanah message in 1984.
Nancy and I hear (the shofar’s) call and are reminded by it that so much in our American heritage is drawn from the religious values enunciated during the Jewish High Holy Days…. The ties between the Jewish and American traditions run deep and are related in no small way to the special relationship that exists between the United States and Israel — a relationship based on the common spiritual and ethical values encompassed in the shofar’s call to prayer.
To appreciate how arrogant Obama’s Rosh Hashanah statement was, compare it to Obama’s words on Christmas, Ramadan, or St. Patrick’s day. St. Patrick’s is a model of normal politic blarney on an ethnic holiday. Obama’s Ramadan message is a weird world of sycophantic praise...

This is a time when families gather, friends host iftars, and meals are shared. But Ramadan is also a time of intense devotion and reflection – a time when Muslims fast during the day and pray during the night; when Muslims provide support to others to advance opportunity and prosperity for people everywhere. For all of us must remember that the world we want to build – and the changes that we want to make – must begin in our own hearts, and our own communities.
These rituals remind us of the principles that we hold in common, and Islam’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings. I believe it is time to circle this white house administration like the walls of Jericho, praising God with songs and prayers, and bring it down. I live 3 hours away from DC and would participate. A nice FALL day would be good, maybe late October before the elections?

As Jews in America and around the world celebrate the first of the High Holy Days I want to extend my warmest wishes for the New Year. L’shana Tova Tikatevu – may you be inscribed and sealed in the Book of Life.Particularly telling is how Obama thinks Jews need to be told to give money to the less fortunate -- like he thinks Jews are all evil money-grubbers who don't care for their fellow human beings.Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of the spiritual calendar and the birth of the world. It serves as a reminder of the special relationship between God and his children, now and always. And it calls us to look within ourselves – to repent for our sins; recommit ourselves to prayer; and remember the blessings that come from helping those in need.
Today, those lessons ring as true as they did thousands of years ago. And as we begin this New Year, it is more important than ever to believe in the power of humility and compassion to deepen our faith and repair our world.
At a time when too many of our friends and neighbors are struggling to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads, it is up to us to do what we can to help those less fortunate.
At a time when prejudice and oppression still exist in the shadows of our society, it is up to us to stand as a beacon of freedom and tolerance and embrace the diversity that has always made us stronger as a people.
And at a time when Israelis and Palestinians have returned to direct dialogue, it is up to us to encourage and support those who are willing to move beyond their differences and work towards security and peace in the Holy Land. Progress will not come easy, it will not come quick. But today we had an opportunity to move forward, toward the goal we share—two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security.
The scripture teaches us that there is “a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.” In this season of repentance and renewal, let us commit ourselves to a more hopeful future.
Michelle and I wish all who celebrate Rosh Hashanah a sweet year full of health and prosperity.
It would be hard to imagine a Muslim writing a harsher "greeting" to the Jewish people.

America’s collectivist class, A.K.A. “Jews” got a snide letter from the Manchurian Candidate From Mecca whom they not only voted for, they contributed to his election. Worse yet, their families were mostly collectivist since they arrived from Germany or Russia and the vast majority of them worked diligently for collectivism.
So - “Line Bred Collectivists” were dissed by the “Head Collectivist”, a Halfrican who willingly attended 20 years of sermons by the Jew hating Rev. Wright. What a surprise!!
The soi dissant ‘smartest people’ couldn’t see this coming?

Collectivism is antithetical to America. The Pilgrim experience should have made that clear. For the very few Jews who may visit Free Republic, Googling “That Turkey Is Marxist” might clarify the risks of collectivism.
