There are boxes that US presidential hopefuls have to tick early. They have to start building a campaign team, albeit discreetly. They have to set up a fundraising machine. And they have to visit Iowa, the small but politically crucial state that traditionally kicks off a White House run.
Sarah Palin has ticked the first two and on Friday will tick the third when she is the main speaker at a $100-a-seat Republican dinner in Des Moines, Iowa. The party's sole superstar has not yet said whether she will seek the nomination to take on Barack Obama in 2012. But all the indications point to a run, and Friday's visit is the biggest sign yet.
Democrats may detest her, and so does the Republican establishment, for her perceived lack of sophistication and polarising effect on the electorate. But neither will make the choice in the Iowa caucus. The party activists will, and they are shifting behind her. Long before the contest has formally begun, Palin is fast on the way to becoming unstoppable.
Marilea David, a lifelong Republican, is typical of the fan base, seeing in Palin an alternative to the old-boy network. "I think she is great. She is the only person I am excited about just now," David said over coffee in west Des Moines.
"She is fiscally conservative. She married her husband for love, not money. She does not have perfect kids, which is big for me. She has been totally vetted by the liberal media and they did not come up with anything other than she is a 'hick'."
David, 52, who runs her own home tutoring business, will not be attending Friday's dinner. "I am a broke Republican. But if she runs, I will give her my time. I would love to campaign for her."

We know she’s running!
Democrats may detest her, and so does the Republican establishment

We’ll see if the “Republican establishment” is the same after 2010. She’s knocked out a lot of RINOs already.
What a woman!
Right and Gingritch, Pataki, Palenty, Barbour, DeMent, Maybe Huckster, Rinomney, Who knows who else.
Net Nanny??
Nancy Pelosi could do that IN HER SLEEP!
Heh heh heh ... funny visual of her mincing across in heels ...
Over time, it went from Palin wouldn’t be running ‘cos she left her Governor’s job and therefore didn’t have political platform to engage in politics, to she isn’t running ‘cos she likes making money, to wouldn’t win the nomination ‘cos the republican establishment or Romney would stop her, and now finally that she won’t be president ‘cos she’ll be easily be beaten by Obama.
But Palin is already polling level with Obama even though she hasn’t yet started running a campaign, and has been running in essence a one-woman operation.
Still hanging on to their illusions.
Ref Post #4: I do believe that is the worst picture of my girl Sarah that I’ve ever seen.
I don’t think she’ll be running against Obama. I think she’ll be running against Hillary.

Notice how the MSM, GOPer’s and FReepers who don’t like her keep moving the goal post.....I’m contemplating posting some of those earlier threads that show some of their “BRILLIANT POLITICAL THINKING”
We already have Gingritch, Pataki, Palenty, Barbour, and the Huckster beat.
They’ve already exposed themselves as unfit, and their baggage will be easy to throw at them.
DeMint is not going to run, and will likely be our Senate leader.
Romney will be a battle, but Palin is polling well ahead of him already.
I pray that she runs and wins in 2012. At this point she can probably beat anyone that the rats put up. It will be the death of the entrenched pols in the GOP if they pull the same crap they tried and are trying against Miller, O’Donnell, etc.
My post to the Guardian:
I’m a conservative American and I’d put a bet on Palin to win the Republican nomination. Romney is too liberal for Republicans (he created a very similar health care system in Massachusetts to what Obama implemented for the USA). Romneycare in Massachusetts has been a disaster with huge cost overruns and big problems for the state. That is why Scott Brown, a Republican, won the Senate seat that Ted Kennedy held.
I would also bet that Palin wins against Obama. There’s two years to go but Obama has been a dismal failure so far and is openly a joke now among a big majority of non-black Americans. He has lost the independent vote at this point. Hillary may run against Obama which will bleed cash from the Dems and divide the party. Blacks will sit on their hands and Dems will be in trouble with 10% of the country and 20% of their vote sitting out the election if Obama loses, because blacks will be incredibly dispirited and angry. If Hillary loses, her supporters will be dispirited and lacking in energy; most importantly among the independent voters.
Massive government spending failed under Franklin Roosevelt to get the USA out of depression. We were in depression for 10 years under Roosevelt. 10 years of misery. Now that the internet exists it’s not so easy to play the “rubes” and “common people” and pretend a plan that is a failure is a success. Obama is an anti-colonialist and a socialist at heart and by vocation. He has used every trick he knows and has failed to create jobs — and there isn’t time for him to impose a dictatorship before the elections — and if he tried Americans are armed to the teeth.
Good luck socialists, but your idealogy doesn’t work and there are still Americans that have kept the faith.
Ping to my post 18. Summary of the relevant part. If Hillary beats Obama many blacks will not be happy. Many that would ordinarily vote Dem will not vote at all, in my opinion. Plus they’ll be spending big dollars on their primary contest . . . : )
There were nasty intramural wars here during the 07/08 primaries, I expect the same or worse this time. Fortunately, and God Bless Fred Thompson, but it is going to be more fun supporter Palin. The really interesting thing is that it seems all the Thompson supporters like Palin, and the rest either hate her or are skeptical. Looks it will be the same players warring all over again.
LOL!
The questions are: How do the majority of non-leftist voters, successfully, make sure that an actual conservative is the final choice for POTUS, in ‘12 and beyond, and how do the majority of non-leftist voters, successfully, make sure that all RINO candidates, at every political level, are continuously defeated in all future elections?
Is there a reason you’re using a photo that includes the phrase “breast implants” in its file name? I’m not even sure it’s Palin in the photo; it doesn’t look like her to me.
The establishment elite and professional politicians that have not led because they were afraid to stick their necks out now increasingly find themselves set upon a new landscape -they are no longer able to duck for cover and equivocate safely knowing the establishment has their backs -they will have to make a choice -follow, or get out of the way OTHERWISE they will get their *sses handed to them by the people...
Romney won’t be “a battle”, because Mitt is a RINO as well as helped create socialized health care in Massachusetts: RomneyCare. RomneyCare, with all of its past, present, and future problems, will defeat any chances for a Romney victory in any future political race.

It's definitely Palin. ;o)
She, STILL, looks pretty.
I don’t want ANY luck to ever be given to ANY LEFTIST POLITICIAN!

Sounds like Ronald Reagan...in 1979.
I share your thoughts and pray your prayers. She’s the one, if voters will one come to the very same realization.
Thanks, sweet you!
The Obama Wreckage has a problem. They are right were they worked to be.
I dont want ANY luck to ever be given to ANY LEFTIST POLITICIAN!

You are right. Let me rephrase: Good luck in your personal lives socialists, but your ideology is a failure . . .
Well said.

Too Close to Call in Delaware
It looks like theres a real possibility of a major upset in the Delaware Senate primary on Tuesday night, with insurgent conservative Christine ODonnell leading longtime Congressman and Governor Mike Castle 47-44. That 3 point lead is well within the polls margin of error.
If Castle is indeed defeated Tuesday night it will be yet another sign that conservatives have a strangle hold on the Republican Party and moderates may or may not be welcome anymore. Castle has an overwhelming 69-21 lead with moderate voters but they only make up 33% of the likely primary electorate. ODonnell has a 62-31 lead with conservatives thats more than enough to propel her to the overall lead.
As much as I don’t trust PPP, I think there’s a real possibility that Christine will win. Thanks!!!
Eh, you’re right, that is Todd...so it makes sense that it’s Sarah.
The Brits see it but many here in the U.S. and even on this forum are willfully blind.
I don’t trust PPP but I still like what they are saying there. Wouldn’t it be lovely? I don’t care if Castle is the better bet in the general or if O’Donnell is the better bet in the general. O’Donnell is the conservative and that’s what the country needs. Palin’s endorsements are giant killers.
If Hillary beats Obama many blacks will not be happy.
If Obamas numbers are still in the tank, he could step aside with the promise that Hillary would appoint him to SCOTUS. He is enjoying the perks of the job but doesnt seem to care about doing the job. He might be happy to achieve Marxism by sitting on the Court.

I think if Palin is headed to the nomination he’ll think he can take her. ; )
Murkowski tried running on the positive “bring home the bacon” banner, and that didn’t work. So, she warns Castle. The Castle people respond by going nuclear negative on O’Donnell. When that doesn’t work, MAYBE they will learn that the way to defuse a challenge from the right is to actually MOVE TO THE RIGHT.
But not the stupid idiots that commented at the linked article. Shocking really. Now wonder the UK got itself in such a lamentable fix. The ones that commented think obama and the democrats are the bee’s knees!
These articles are almost boilerplate. They start out saying how popular she is, how her events are selling out, her book is a best seller, and her endorsements are winning. The conclusion - She can’t win because she’s a conservative Republican. She is really an uninformed idiot and a hick.
The articles say, we’ve told you the truth, now here’s what we want you to think. People have matured beyond this junior high school level of journalism.
I am sick of all of these “columns” and “articles”.
I am trying to focus on election 2012, just like Sarah Palin.
“I think she is great. She is the only person I am excited about just now,”
If given the chance a President Palin may well turn out to be the American version of the “Iron Lady” (Britian’s Thatcher), I believe.
“If given the chance a President Palin may well turn out to be the American version of the Iron Lady (Britians Thatcher), I believe.”
Only far better in many respects... :-)
Palin ‘12!
what do you mean ‘hick.’ she is a full blooded redneck.
