CHARLIE CRIST SET TO ANNOUNCE SUPPORT FOR GAY ISSUES
TowleRoad ^ | 9/13/2010 | TowleRoad

Raw Story has gotten a hold of a memo closeted Governor Crist plans to release this week. The document announces support for a variety of issues related to the LGBT community.

The document provided to RawStory.com includes Crist's vocal support for gay couples, including hospital visitation, inheritance and adoption rights; opposition to the ban on gays serving in the military; support for anti-discrimination laws and appropriations for HIV and AIDS programs.

"It's great to hear a sitting governor take such a strong stand on equality issues," Nadine Smith, Director of Equality Florida, told RawStory.com by telephone Sunday night. "This is the first time in Florida's history that a sitting governor has taken these public positions on a wide range of LGBT equality issues. It marks a shift in the debate in our state."

"For us, having the governor of Florida articulate so clearly stands that are in support of equality on a wide range of issues is a new day," Smith added. A representative of Crist's campaign could not immediately be reached for comment.

I knew all along that Crist was a back-stabbing RINO. At least this seals the deal and guarantees Rubio will win by a landslide. Charlie Crist needs to get out of politics and figure out his confused sexuality once and for all.

One of the most shocking parts of the memo is Crist’s support for “Uniting American Families Act”. That is legislation to loosen immigration law so that ‘married’ and partnered homosexuals can get citizenship for their foreign sexual partners. That is the last thing we need with the current messed up system. We are entering new levels of crazy.

Not too sure about that. From what I understand, the beach cities are very liberal and there are a lot of gays there, but the rest of the state — Republican and Democrat — is still pretty square.

I don’t see the average dem voters rushing to support an obvious political opportunist like Crist. Although I really don’t know. Stranger things have happened.

"I feel the same way, yes, because I feel that marriage is a sacred institution, if you will. But I do believe in tolerance. I'm a live and let live kind of guy, and while I feel that way about marriage, I think if partners want to have the opportunity to live together, I don't have a problem with that," said Crist when asked about his stance against same-sex marriage when he ran for governor four years ago."

HENRY: Another big issue, same-sex marriage. Many conservatives like Marco Rubio support a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. But this week, the former Republican Party Chairman Ken Mehlman came out and said he's gay and he called on conservatives to kind of move to the political center and be more tolerant on this issue. You have previously said in your gubernatorial campaign, you supported a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. Now that you're trying to occupy the political center, are you still in favor of a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage?

CRIST: I feel the same way, yes, because I feel that marriage is a sacred institution, if you will. But I do believe in tolerance. I'm a live and let live kind of guy, and while I feel that way about marriage, I think if partners want to have the opportunity to live together, I don't have a problem with that.

And I think that's where most of America is. So I think that you know, you have to speak from the heart about these issues. They are very personal. They have a significant impact on an awful lot of people and the less the government is telling people what to do, the better off we're all going to be. But when it comes to marriage, I think it is a sacred institution. I believe it is between a man and woman, but partners living together, I don't have a problem with.

HENRY: But governor, doesn't it sounds like you having it both ways by saying live and let live, but I also support a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. If it's live and let live, why would you ban same-sex marriage?

CRIST: Well, everything is in a matter of degree, Ed, and when it becomes to the institution of marriage, I believe that it is between a man and a woman, it's just how I feel.

Remarks and transcript August 30, 2010..so what's new & closeted?

I have family members (extended) and friends who are gay..in long time relationships.. with never a mention of getting married in a church. If fact, one family member who is a Republican, laughs about people thinking every gay person out there wants a marriage certificate. He says I am against gay marriage..and always laughs..why would I want to marry that ....!

The particular church can decide if the unison be blessed, considering there is "a separation between church and state", it is not for the government to decide.

These mentioned family members and friends are as close to me as my other friends and relatives perhaps moreso. Each one would do anything to help a neighbor or friend in need. I am, therefore, blessed and proud to have them in my lives.

So Crist and Meek split the queer vote. I doubt they were ever going to vote for Rubio, but I’m sure there are a few republicans who were hanging on to Crist that might decide against him now that he’s come out.

Just like it was obvious to anyone that looked carefully at Obama that he was an empty suit, it was clear to us in FL that Crist was a non principled politician. The powers that be fought hard to put him in over a conservative challenger. I’ve been told very proudly by several conservatives that they saw this also and didn’t vote at all rather than vote for Crist.

All this said, his run to the left has to mean he needs votes and is trying to pick them off from Meek. He’s a true slippery politician; the teachers should be warned he’ll turn on them in a heartbeat if it means good things for him.

This is beyond the pale. More pushing of the homosexual agenda and trying to make deviancy appear normal. The inmates are truly trying to run the asylum. I hope Crist states this stand before the election and he loses. No matter how often We the People say "NO" politicians and judges keep pushing.

bring it on Crist, in this state we had only one county which went for homosexual marriage(not gay) and that was close but it was no surprise it is a small county way down in the keys. Overwhelmingly this state said no to the homosexual agenda. This is what I don't get. These far left fringe radicals and idiots like many in the GOP, Rat party media etc all talk, live, converse, party etc in their circles. They have no idea what the average working man or woman wants until an election. Now come an election the votes always go against the homosexuals agenda and yet they still don't get it which just shows how ignorant, stupid and dumb they are. We see churches which have been infiltrated, groups reps etc thinking that if they appease homosexuality then they will become more inclusive. Well they might get two or three extra to the church based on that but you guarantee 10 to 20 will leave based on that. This is why it is important to speak out which the left does not want and stop thinking it is just about marriage. 5 years ago it was just about civil unions now it is about the don't ask, adoption, marriage , teach it in the school to little kids as young as 5 and yes this has been done in MA, CA. Adoption agencies have been closed down due to them, people have been refused a job because of them and their agenda, parents have been threatened because they said they do not want their little kid told of homosexuality . Wake the hell up and stop thinking that because one might have a homosexuals friend that they are all nice and just want to be left alone

It is so nice to have a post without the name calling.

As and add on...Charlie Crist has disappointed me BIG TIME ,not because of “The Gay Rumor” I have heard that rumor for years and I sill voted for him. I believed he was a good man and a conservative.

can you explain what you mean square ?

This is my state and when we had the homosexual question on the ballot the voters overwhelmingly went against their agenda and marriage

Now sure where you get this beach area is more liberal

We’re on the beach is our town and we’re on of the most republican conservative areas in this state.

I suggest you look at north east FL, the panhandle, even further down to past merrit island, then on the other side Lee county etc on the south west part is not liberal either.

Crist is losing right now and his numbers are going down much more over weeks too but now this comes out his numbers will take a bigger hit as this state has rejected the homosexual agenda in big numbers and we are only one of just a couple of states which also stops homosexuals from adopting .

Again where do you get this square thing? Normal yes, and they are homosexuals not gay

Did it develop a new meaning over the years?

If they get the word in time. The Gay community will hear, or probably already has heard, that Charlie has come out for them. Will Charlie's Pubbie supporters who would "decide against him" over this, get the word that he has come out? I hope so. Many people, unlike political junkies like me, aren't paying real close attention.
