Moreover, given the increasing diversity of America's population, the dangers of sectarianism have never been greater. Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.
And even if we did have only Christians in our midst, if we expelled every non-Christian from the United States of America, whose Christianity would we teach in the schools? Would we go with James Dobson's, or Al Sharpton's? Which passages of Scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is ok and that eating shellfish is abomination? How about Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith?
Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount - a passage that is so radical that it's doubtful that our own Defense Department would survive its application? So before we get carried away, let's read our bibles. Folks haven't been reading their bibles.
This brings me to my second point. Democracy demands that the religiously motivated translate their concerns into universal, rather than religion-specific, values. It requires that their proposals be subject to argument, and amenable to reason.

What is your point in posting? We all heard him make the statement and he has amplified his anti-White and anti-Christian (by any other definition than Liberation Theology -Communism in a religious wrapper-) stated beliefs many times. He is what he is, and it is not American.
I’m really sick and tired of the press and our dear illustrious dumb ass president using the minuscule minority to game the vast majority of us.
It makes sense to these idiots that 1 to 2% of the populace should dictate to the rest of us what this nation will be.
I don’t give a fig if it’s homosexuals or third world religions, at some point this has to stop. Christians have a right to a belief and a nation in which to practice that belief.
Islamic adherents have plenty of places where they can stone women. Other religions have their stomping grounds. The U. S. is a Christian nation, and the 80 to 95% of us who are Christians shouldn’t have to water it down out of concerns for some ass hat clown pretenders who aren’t satisfied to have defiled 2/3rds of the planet already, or have just practiced their religion as they see fit without being a pariah endeavor, whichever the case.
Enough already. If you don’t want to live in a Christian nation, there are plenty of other nations out there. Adopt one, and move.
And illegal aliens, we’ve got your number and this s—t is going to end. The vast majority of us are sick of seeing our nation gamed. Once again, the minority is supposed to rule. Bull s—t.
Your post is not superflous. i did not hear him say this in 06, and I certainly didn’t read or hear the media report this during 0dumbo’s campaign.
Everyone, especially most of the people who were taken in by 0dumbo’s fake halo and voted for him need to read this and grasp what he is saying.
He is as much a Christian as Hitler or Mcveigh was.
Those are the 2 most often cited as Christians who were also evil.
0dumbo is evil.
Thank you for posting this.
I’m coming out from under the porch after reading this :)
Obama never mentions that it is Islam that is today lashing, stoning, honor killing and murdering innocents through hate induced Jihad and Sharia. No, Obama instead bows his head and calls it the holy Koran.
This Youtube video is dated Mar. 9, 2008.
“Obama: We are no longer a Christian Nation”
Not sure about 2006, doubt I heard it in 2006 either, but did hear it before the 2008 elections.
Sorry, I simply did not understand what you found relevant about the old article. Makes sense after others posted comments about timing. The point I find interesting is that in light of current statements by Obozo it is more than clear he has always been a consumate liar. That is evident throughout his entire political career. He must actually think what he is saying is truth, although it defies all logic to do so.
beyond ironic, isn’t it?? I thought that when I first saw the article earlier today .... almost didn’t read it because of where it was....
