Seton Hall University Puts Homosexual "Marriage" Course First, Archbishop Last

Like putting a fox in charge of a chicken coop, Seton Hall University is allowing a pro-homosexual professor to give a course on “The Politics of Gay Marriage.”

When plans for the anti-Catholic course were first announced at the diocesan university, the Most Reverend John J. Myers, Archbishop of Newark, responded. “This proposed course seeks to promote as legitimate a train of thought that is contrary to what the Church teaches. As a result, the course is not in synch with Catholic teaching,” he stated.

However, despite the archbishop’s misgivings the course was not stopped.

Sign the protest

According to the
New Jersey Star-Ledger, the undergraduate course requires students to purchase a book written by pro-homosexual state senators Raymond Lesniak (D-Union) and Loretta Weinberg (D-Bergen) titled: “What’s Love Got To Do With It? The Case for Same-Sex Marriage.” Both of the authors sponsored a bill in New Jersey to legalize same-sex “marriage.”

And who teaches the course? Political science professor W. King Mott, a pro-homosexual activist whose affiliation with Lambda Legal, Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies, and Human Rights Campaign is mentioned on Seton Hall University’s web site.

Blatant Anti-Catholic Bias

Mott’s anti-Catholic bias is clear: “Efforts to condemn the [homosexual] culture itself as Pope John Paul II has done in recent encyclicals only illustrate the futility of orthodoxy in general and the papacy in particular,” he wrote.

“The notion that marriage is a stable and ancient human arrangement, derived from divine revelation, limited to that existing between one man and one woman, and binding save through the permission of a single Church is contrived. It is laughable to consider that human relationships could ever find satisfaction and expression in this single interpretation of marriage,” he said.

Just Cancel the Course

For 2,000 years the Holy Catholic Church has consistently condemned unnatural vice. This teaching is more relevant today given the homosexual movement’s relentless attempt to undermine traditional marriage with counterfeit unions.

In the current struggle to protect God’s marriage, how can Seton Hall possibly allow its classrooms to become outlets of anti-Catholic propaganda? What would Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, the university’s patron, think of this scandal?

TFP Student Action invites its members to contact Seton Hall University with a simple message: “Just Cancel the Course.”

Defiant “Catholic” universities like Seton Hall and Notre Dame need to have their status revoked and all clergy removed from campus. They are attacking the Church under the guise of “Catholicism” and need to be stopped. All the petitions and admonitions in the world will not bring them to heel. A dark line needs to be drawn and those institutions who refuse to adhere to the Church’s teaching need to be expelled, together with the excommunication of any clergy who continue to support those institutions.

For the first time in my life I cheered when I heard of a Notre Dame football loss (Go Michigan!). The iconic institution of my boyhood is dead to me know. The South Bend campus should be razed and the ground salted, so that coming generations will remember its apostacy.

I got my nursing degree from SHU. There was almost nothing of the Catholic teaching on life issues there - professors stated their own opinions which usually were at odds with the positions of the Church.

If you want a Catholic education, Seton Hall is a waste of money.

I'm surprised this thread hasn't gotten more traffic.

Mott’s anti-Catholic bias is clear: “Efforts to condemn the [homosexual] culture itself as Pope John Paul II has done in recent encyclicals only illustrate the futility of orthodoxy in general and the papacy in particular,” he wrote.

That's Mott's version of "How many divisions does the Pope have?" He needs a lot of prayer. (IOW, I wouldn't want to be in *his* shoes!)

You run a tight ship! I agree with you. This is one more example of how a scandalous situation is allowed to continue. I do give kuddos to Archbishop Myers, though.

If the universities won’t fire such depraved scoundrels, then it is up to the citizenry at large to remove them.

I have written to the Archbishop to thank him. It only requires a few words to give him encouragement.

Do we really want the clergy back?

Kidding.

Send them to an abbey... or to the Islamic Middle East, to see what their brothers go through.

Dang, more masses and rosaries...
