TEHRAN, Iran The American woman released by Iran on Tuesday after more than a year in prison said she was humbled and grateful to Iran's president for her freedom shortly before she boarded a flight to the nearby Gulf sultanate of Oman where her mother was awaiting her.
Iran freed Sarah Shourd, 32, after a $500,000 bail was paid to win her freedom.

the total barf of seeing a US citizen groveling before the Mullahs while her friends are still in captivity
sigh.........lesson learned hopefully.
Stockholm Syndrome, maybe.
Sexists.
When you meet the unbelievers in jihad [holy war], chop off their heads. And when you have brought them low, bind your prisoners rigorously. Then set them free or take ransom from them until the war is ended.(Koran, 47:4)
“humbled and grateful” is just another way of saying “I’ll speak kindly of you so you’ll free my 2 friends”. We won’t hear of any mistreatment or of the kangaroo court until her companions are on safer soil.
The Iran government has ventured into state sponsored kidnapping. In earlier times, this action may been cause for swift retaliation. In these times, this action is cause for ransoms and praise for the dear leader. Disgusting.
Sarah: No more hiking next to belligerent countries, OK?
$500K = ransom.
We were supposed to have settled this in the early 1800’s (except, perhaps, for T. Jefferson’s underhandedness)
She should be grateful to the people who raised the money to pay Iran’s extortion, but she should not be grateful to the little crap-weasel that had his people hold her hostage for over a year.
If somebody came to my house and held me at gunpoint while somebody else wearing steel-toed boots kicked me between the legs once a day while I was powerless to do anything about it, I sure as heck wouldn’t be grateful to him for finally stopping.
Let's see how long she keeps the headscarf on when she gets home.
Nancy Pelosi could probably use a new one.
Too bad her half million dollar bail will be used to further the evil dwarf’s nuclear attack on Israel. Whatever happened to our rule that we don’t pay ransom to terrorists?
I sure as heck wouldnt be grateful to him for finally stopping.
Use your noodle. The Iranians still hold her two companions, one of whom is her fiance. She will say nothing publically to make life tougher for them while still in captivity, especially as one is her fiance. I’m sure she will be thoroughly briefed by our gov’t agents as to what happened to her, but none of it will be made public as long as the other to men are still being held by Iran.
Friends-Still-In-Thugs-Hands Syndrome, maybe.
She has to say whatever they tell her to because she knows her comments affect the possibility of geting the other 2 out. What do you expect her to do, ruin the chances of her friends getting out? That’s exactly why they released only one of them, so they could get the comments they wanted.
That's always a risk, but I'm thinking it's just being polite so not to put her two friends at any greater risk.
They are big time libs. Leave them there.
thank you sir..... may I have another?
I believe we taxpayers did.
500K to get a ugly Lefty Back?? Bad deal.
She was grateful to Iran’s president?????????? Major Stockholm Syndrome, I’d say. How about a little gratitude for the people who raised the $500k?
Anyway, she’s a moron, and probably a lefty. Only the leftist idiots don’t know these people are our ENEMY!!! I suppose the family and friends of this woman are grateful to Ahmanutjob, too.
It is also colossally stupid to be hiking along the border of a country where US troops are still involved in combat operations and another country that is actively trying to destabilize the first country and considers the US an enemy.

Right now, we are doing it wrong. I guess we are STILL refusing to learn from history.
Yep. Since November 1979.
I'd love to see several government buildings and mullahs' residences in Iran bombed to smithereens.
Not to mention the nuke plant(s).
Did you watch her eyes during the release conference? She was still scared to death.
Can we lockup illegals and demand $500,000 bail/ransom? We might be on to something here. Round up enough, maybe we could payoff the national debt. Oh, but I am guessing Mexico won’t pay because they don’t want them back.
I didn’t say I don’t understand why she will be spoon-feeding propaganda to the media, at least as long as her friends are still captives in Mullah-land..... I said that the spectacle is nauseating.
If a rapist holds three captives and is raping them, but releases one who proceeds to sing the praises of the rapist in order to try to win the freedom of the other two, I can understand why the freed victim says something without either endorsing or approving of it myself.
Yeah, lefty would be my guess, or they wouldn’t have been venturing into Iranian territory in the first place.
afaik they never appeared in court; no hearings had been held yet.
Early on it was said that she is very ill. Anyone know the nature of her illness?
And where in the heck is our fabulous president while Americans are held hostage?
I’m thrilled that my money is helping arm Iran so that this empty headed idiot could be freed.
Who vacations in a War Zone (Iraq)?
***Iran freed Sarah Shourd, 32, after a $500,000 bail was paid to win her freedom.****
Sounds like the traditional moslem practice of kidnapping someone and holding them for ransom.
More about them here!

Wonder if those nice degrees from Berkley in “Peace and Conflict Studies” helped in the REAL WORLD!
Any evidence that the US paid the bail, Allegra?
She was already a muslim sympathizing, israel-hater before she walked into iran. Just another Rachel Corrie type,, and just watch, even after her two buddies are safe at home, she will still have nothing but kind words for iran, and will blame their behavior on their just suspicion of all Americans.
Just watch.
Mark Steyn did, sort of.
But here’s the thing. He carried a gun all the time over there, wrote that he would have gone down fighting rather than be kidnapped, and that if captured he would NOT expect to have been ransomed.
“Shourd’s mother has said her daughter has been denied treatment for serious health problems, including a breast lump and precancerous cervical cells.”
“humbled and grateful is just another way of saying,,,,”
Baloney,, she means it. She loves them,, she won’t ever turn on them, because she shares their anti-USA anti-Israel philosophy. Just watch how she acts long after the boys are released. And look for the book,, warmly understanding iranian suspicion of America,,, and waxing in about the beauty of Islam. Just watch,,,
interesting..... they have journalistic aspirations and activities, which suggests that the claim they were merely “lost hikers” is more than a bit implausible
in any case “hiking” around the Iran/Iraq border anything seems like a pretty crazy idea, especially while there are US troops in Iraq and Iran is fighting a terrorist war against the west
“Sarah: No more hiking next to belligerent countries, OK?”
They should pull her passport and put her on every no-fly list in the world.
There is such a thing as “too stupid to leave the country.”
No, not at all. In fact, Crowley is saying the US didn't pay it and I guess I should give them the benefit of the doubt.
It's just that I find that so difficult when it comes to our government these days.
Hey, it's Camp Kupcake! You don't know what you're missing.
Palm trees, sand....ummm....other stuff...
Never mind...
Another leftwing extremist collides with reality.
Nice that her family was able to put together half a million dollars to get her out.
Too bad they couldn’t raise the money for her 2 friends.
“I believe we taxpayers did.”
Maybe not.
U.S. Government will not pay bail for U.S. hiker imprisoned in Iran, U.S. State Department says
