Karl Rove on Hannity: There Are 'A Lot Of Nutty Things' O'Donnell's Been Saying (VIDEO)
Talking Points Memo ^ | 09/15/2010 | Jilian Rayfield

Posted on 09/15/2010 6:19:13 AM PDT by Brices Crossroads

Karl Rove and Sean Hannity duked it out tonight over Christine O'Donnell's win in the Republican Senate primary in Delaware, with Rove, surprisingly, calling some of O'Donnell's remarks "nutty" and conceding that "this is not a race we're going to be able to win."

"This was about Mike Castle's bad votes," Rove said tonight on Fox News. "It does conservatives little good to support candidates who, at the end of the day, while they may be conservative in their public statements, do not evince the characteristics of rectitude and truthfulness and sincerity and character that the voters are looking for."

Rove pointed out that there have been a lot of questions about O'Donnell's finances, and some of her allegations against Castle. Hannity fired back that he interviewed her about all of those things.

"Did you ask her about the people who were following her home to her headquarters?" Rove asked, adding: "There are just a lot of nutty things she's been saying."

"We were looking at eight to nine seats in the Senate," he continued. "Now we're looking at seven to eight, in my opinion. This is not a race we're going to be able to win."

Yeah Karl, now is the time to try to ruin someone over a financial problem in their past. Especially now with so many people out of work and about to lose their homes, just tell them how the rest of their lives will be ruined because they had a problem. Who on earth ever called you a genius? Moron, insensitive oaf, and elitist is more like it.

“Why is it when someone attacks a RINO, Rove and company quote Reagan’s 11th commandment (”Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican.”) to silence the attack, but now that Tea Party candidates are winning, they ignore this commandment?”

I despise their hypocrisy. None of them supported Reagan. They crawled back into the GOP when Bush 41 won Reagan’s third term in 1988. And they have only won one majority since then (in 2004 by a slim margin against John Francois Kerry). Yet they give we Reaganites lectures on electoral success. And then trash any real conservative like Joe Miller, Sharron Angle and Christine O’Donnell when they win. What chutzpah!

I can see Hannity extending some courtesy to Rove for the sake of having him as a guest on his show in the future. He still give McCain an audience, for example.

I can see Rush calling him out hard. This kind of trashing of a grass roots candidate was what had Rush on fire yesterday. Besides, Rush's show is not dependent on interviews.

Isn’t that kind of what the Republican party has been telling the Tea Party? Sort of ironic that they are the ones doing the fighting. It has become clear that the RINO’s are nervous.

I am not leaving the Party, I am fighting to reclaim it from squishy, linguini-spined infiltrators who are more concerned with being invited to swanky parties rather than governing on principle. Purge the pinkos.

I'm with YOU!

Purge the RINOS!

ok -— I’m sending $$ direct to O’Donnell !!!
The good old boys in the RNC dynasty/establishment can’t handle being beat out by a “girl / skirt candidate.
She didn’t come from aristrocacy — “ it took 10 years for her to pay off her student loan” ... what no silver spoon ... how dare she have the audacity to run against such a refined, insider, gentleman politican and WIN !!!
Carl you sound like an outright snob !!!

Good idea. Much better use of fingers then typing the same old/same old on FR-—

Please call and/or Email the GOP of Delaware to request they support O’Donnell. Even if you favored Castle, O’Donnell is our canidate and crucial for a Senate Majority.

I’m waiting to hear more about O’Donnell’s background.

Maybe Rove’s correct, though his criticism on election eve, when he should have known that O’Donnell might win, seems dumb, especially for a savvy political strategist.

Karl Rove knows how to win campaigns - and thats all he knows.

George Bush would have been much better off using Rove to win elections, and then paying him to go away until the next elections.

I am friends with two people that know George Bush personally, and very well. Numerous times during his eight years in office they were shocked by his positions and actions. Their universal remark was, “that’s not the guy I know!”

No, it WAS the guy they know, following Rove’s advice instead of his own heart and mind.

If you happen to know, would the time he called what now might be recognized as Tea Partiers; “vigilantes” be one of those positions?

That’s the very day Bush 43 lost my support.

Got back from dinner last night just in time to hear Rove give his speech from the bunker. I give Hannity credit, he tried not to jump down his throat...If I had been doing the interview, I would have said: next guest. He spent almost two minutes bashing the GOP Candidate, think about that, two minutes saying everything his contorted mind could come up with. Inuendo, gossip and conjecture, all vicious, nothing more. His comment that De has a 2 to 1 dem to gop enrollment seemed foreign to him when saying she has no chance to win...well Karl, if she had no chance, what would any dem lite candidate have? My advice to Karl, take your chalk board and stick it where the sun don’t shine. His last comment, well, I thought the GOP could take 8 or 9 senate seats (Karl, that does not put us in the majority), now it is only 7 or 8. Well, from my perspective, should that happen, well, one less RINO is not going to hurt us one bit. That clown from Ohio and the seat warmer from Fl, Crist’s last act in office, jumped the aisle yesterday. Well, given the weak sisters from Maine, the clown from Ohio and probably one or two more, if we take just 7 seats, will still have the fillibuster to stop (o)bama’s rush to socialism. Without a 2 to 1 majority in the senate, we cannot overide any vetoes anyway, so there will be little change to current law without first taking the house so his commentary about O Donnell was completely over the top and shows his true colors as that of a RINO.

“Karl Rove knows how to win campaigns - and thats all he knows.”

Sorry, but that is not true. He knows how to lose them. He very nearly lost the 2000 election by spending money in California that shoud have been allocated to Florida. THe whole Gore/Bush FLA recount would have been avoided but for Karl. He almost blew ohio in 2004 as well.

He is a klutz and a wannabe

It’s really very simple......Progressives have infiltrated both political parties and all of our institutions. They are systematically outing themselves and being exposed for who they really are. It’s us against them.
