At a time when gays have been gaining victories across the country, the Republican Party in Montana still wants to make homosexuality illegal.
The party adopted an official platform in June that keeps a long-held position in support of making homosexual acts illegal, a policy adopted after the Montana Supreme Court struck down such laws in 1997.
The fact that it's still the official party policy more than 12 years later, despite a tidal shift in public attitudes since then and the party's own pledge of support for individual freedoms, has exasperated some GOP members.
"I looked at that and said, 'You've got to be kidding me,'" state Sen. John Brueggeman, R-Polson, said last week. "Should it get taken out? Absolutely. Does anybody think we should be arresting homosexual people? If you take that stand, you really probably shouldn't be in the Republican Party."
Gay rights have been rapidly advancing nationwide since the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Texas' sodomy law in 2003's Lawrence v. Texas decision. Gay marriage is now allowed in five states and Washington, D.C., a federal court recently ruled the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy unconstitutional, and even a conservative tea party group in Montana ousted its president over an anti-gay exchange in Facebook.
But going against the grain is the Montana GOP statement, which falls under the "Crime" section of the GOP platform. It states: "We support the clear will of the people of Montana expressed by legislation to keep homosexual acts illegal."

civil unions is not allowed for normal couples only mentally sick people therefore homosexuals want a law which only applies to them.
Again they want special laws for them based on how they sexually get off.
It needs to stop and those who think homosexuality is alright need their heads testing
that is why I tell my kids what these sick teachers are up to in their agenda and I do speak up against it in public if the conversation arises.
We need to let our kids know what a sick agenda is out there by the media, some teachers and in Govt.

I hope you stick around however; you might actually learn that the issue of the homosexual agenda far exceeds what many are willing to live with. Namely, no one here gives a damn about what is done in the privacy of one's home. We give a damn about normalizing un-natural acts and specifically, being normal and in the MAJORITY of America, we are constantly getting "minority" perversions rammed down our proverbial throats...

Homosexuality goes agaisnt every natural law and most importantly the law of GOD.....
We are 2 distinct genders we are equal as GOD loves both genders equally, but we are unique as *Males* and *Females* and when the two genders come together in love, commitment and as *One* union they create a world that thrives and survives.
It saddens me to see how boys and girls do not know how to define themselves any longer...A World trying to make them the same in every respect...No need for husbands or dads, wives or mother’s will destroy the planet...

Simple. While I am a believer in faith, to me, the argument remains. Whether "created" or "evolved", the conclusion is the same; destructive. It's not even hedging bets; it covers "faith" and "atheism". Which is my point. No matter a persons stripe, they cannot deny fact.

But I was smart enough to see Obama for the statist he was.
