As a reasonably new federal employee (3 years) I totally concur. I spend 20 years owning two businesses, another 6 teaching and consulting then went to work for the government since I finally got around to having a family. A job came up and I was recommended for it and thought why not, the pay was right and I would not have to dip into my investments in order to have regular 8-5 type work so I would be home for the kiddos.
There are days I see things that make me pull my hair out and I have even left the building for a couple of hours to cool off...
Then I remind myself that the “people” elect the folks who make the rules (can't fire, spend whatever, work my butt off to make up for 10 who don't, travel regulations yada yada yada...) so they get what they expect and I should expect same until something changes and I get back at it.

Hang tough and don't let the bast@*ds get you down. You can outlast them...Knowing what they are gives you some leverage.
