Powell holds off on next endorsement, says Obama should focus on 'governing'

Colin Powell is holding off on endorsing President Obama in the 2012 election, but said that he still views the president as a “transformational figure.”

Powell, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and secretary of State under the Bush administration, backed Obama for president in 2008. But on Sunday he said that he would wait closer to 2012 to make his endorsements.

"I will look at the needs of the country, the situation as I see it, and I will evaluate both candidates and see which one I think is best able to lead the country," Powell said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Does Colin Powell actually think that anyone will care about his endorsement in 2012?

To think that I used to think this man would have made a good president......

But he’s right, you know. Barry is a transformational figure. He’s been transforming plenty. But it’s nothing that can’t be undone.

It’s a measure of how clueless the General is, that he thinks that Obama has at any time been governing. One can’t go back to governing if one never started.

His endorsement of Obama killed any credibility he once had. His only way to get it back is to admit he made a mistake and was blinded by Obama’s blackness and his own loyalty to his race. He then needs to detail all the reasons Obama is a destructive force to the country.

Like Obama, Powell got alot of undeserved cred because of what he looks like

He was affirmative action’d for so long it went to his head and now he acts just like an elitist. His positions on Obama and illegal immigration and the right tells you he’s a fake fraud. Just like his Pres__ent.

Isn’t a little early to be worrying about the endorsements for 2012? It’s sort of like me placing a bet on the 2012 Derby - we have no idea who the candidates are going to be.

And why does Powell think anyone cares who he endorses? Are the illegals he hires to work on his house going to vote?

He’s disrespecting our mission in Afghanistan.

He brags on hiring illegals to work on his home.

Wondering if senility has set in.

If you knew about his record in GULF War I and then his compicence in keeping the real leaker of the Plame Game silent, then you need to be paying more attention.

This jerk lost me when he convinced Bush 41 to halt combat actions before they descimated the Republican Guard’s capability to continue it’s reign of oppression over the Iraqi people, especially in the north and south. All he was worried about was how we may appear to the people of the region because of the Basra Road attacks on the cowards fleeing Kuwait. What he didn’t know is we were on the cusp of showing our willingness to deal with the despots as only they know.

Then during the Plame thingy, he knew before Fitzy was appointed to investigate the charges that it was his deputy Sec. State Armitage who did the leaking in the interview with Robert Novak. When Novak told him, Powell told him not to tell anyone and then stood there with his trap shut while our guys in combat and the presidency twisted in the wind.
