Rasmussen Reports ^ | Sept. 20, 2010

Fifty-two percent (52%) of Likely U.S. Voters say their own views are closer to Sarah Palin’s than they are to President Obama’s, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Just 40% say their views are closer to the president’s than to those of the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate.

Among the Political Class, however, 68% say their views are more like Obama’s, while 63% of Mainstream voters describe their views as more like Palin’s.

She needs to jump in the race now. And blunt the RINOs.

Here is a good article defining the "ruling class" and the "country class". One could view the "political class" as the "ruling class".

Manna for the Mama Grizzly. She’s gonna be so fattened up politically that by the time she comes out next spring, she’ll be loaded and ready for, well, bear.

Here’s the calculus Ras uses to define political class and mainstream:

“The Political Class Index is based on three questions. All three clearly address populist tendencies and perspectives, all three have strong public support, and, for all three questions, the populist perspective is shared by a majority of Democrats, Republicans and those not affiliated with either of the major parties. We have asked the questions before, and the results change little whether Republicans or Democrats are in charge of the government.

In many cases, the gap between the Mainstream view and the Political Class is larger than the gap between Mainstream Republicans and Mainstream Democrats.

The questions used to calculate the Index are:

— Generally speaking, when it comes to important national issues, whose judgment do you trust more - the American people or America’s political leaders?

— Some people believe that the federal government has become a special interest group that looks out primarily for its own interests. Has the federal government become a special interest group?

— Do government and big business often work together in ways that hurt consumers and investors?

To create a scale, each response earns a plus 1 for the populist answer, a minus 1 for the political class answer, and a 0 for not sure.

Those who score 2 or higher are considered a populist or part of the Mainstream. Those who score -2 or lower are considered to be aligned with the Political Class. Those who score +1 or -1 are considered leaners in one direction or the other.

In practical terms, if someone is classified with the Mainstream, they agree with the Mainstream view on at least two of the three questions and don’t agree with the Political Class on any.”

The question I now have, is what are the relative numbers or percentages of these two of the electorate? I would guess Mainstream is much larger but I haven’t see those percentages.

20% of the 48% that say that they do not think like Palin, really do not know what Palin thinks... they just know that the media told them she was horrible... that and the fact that they let larry king and diane sawyer do their thinking for them.

“.....76% of Republicans and 52% of unaffiliated voters now hold a favorable opinion of Palin.”

“...Unaffiliated voters by a 41% to 36% margin see Palin as good for the GOP.”

Hell yeah!

She needs to jump in the race now. And blunt the RINOs.

The chattering class and some potential rivals (like Pawlenty) say she can afford to wait because of her name ID. Translation: That's what they want her to do so they can get some traction.

Palin wrote in her book that she got into the governor's race early in 2005 because of the grassroots campaign she was going to run. My bet is that if she decides to run, she'll take your advice.

So what are these beliefs of Obama's that people claim to agree with? Other than, "I think we ought to spread [wealth] around a little more," I haven't heard more than meaningless generalities uttered by the teleprompter in chief.

Unless it is his actions that speak louder than his words that have them jumping up and down. If that is the case these people are beyond hope.

I am glad to see that in a poll, because that's what I ask folks whenever I come across Palin haters. Surprisingly, too many actually think Sarah, not Tina Fey, said that she could see Russia from her house. Of course, you know where I live.

This is the best news I’ve heared in a long time. The tide maybe turning.

The false image is crumbling and the REAL Sarah Palin is emerging.
