O'Donnell vs. Coons: Analyzing Extremism
American Thinker ^ | 9/20/10 | Selwyn Duke

Posted on 09/20/2010 12:38:12 PM PDT by 198ml

Unlike for most Americans, the Delaware senatorial primary was not my first introduction to Christine O'Donnell. I remembered her from as far back as approximately fifteen years ago, making appearances on shows such as "Politically Incorrect." So when I heard about her supposed "extremist views," I had to wonder if I was overlooking something. It's hard to forget such a pretty face, but did I fail to recollect some strange aspect of her ideology?

So I did a Google search and quickly found criticism of her at the Huffington Compost. "What better source for getting the dirt, real and imagined, on a Tea Party candidate?" I thought. Yet I figured I knew what I'd find, and I was right. Had she ever proclaimed herself a Marxist? No, that was her opponent, Chris Coons. Had she ever belonged to a socialist party? No, that was Barack Obama in the 1990s.

My friends and I went on a Ouija Board kick for about a week when I was a teen! *shudder* Karl Rove and the Democrats seem desperate in their attempts to smear this good woman! Bob

I don’t know why. But I have this calm feeling that she’s going to pull a major upset and win this thing. My head is telling me “no way” but my heart is telling me “she will.”

What was it that book said to do....

Ah yes...

1. “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.”

2. “Never go outside the expertise of your people. When an action or tactic is outside the experience of the people, the result is confusion, fear and retreat.... [and] the collapse of communication.

3. “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy. Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. (This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address.)

4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules. You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”

5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counteract ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.”

6. “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.”

7. “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag. Man can sustain militant interest in any issue for only a limited time....”

8. “Keep the pressure on, with different tactics and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.”

9. “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.”

10. “The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition. It is this unceasing pressure that results in the reactions from the opposition that are essential for the success of the campaign.”

11. “If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counterside... every positive has its negative.”

12. “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.”

13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. In conflict tactics there are certain rules that [should be regarded] as universalities. One is that the opposition must be singled out as the target and ‘frozen.’...

“...any target can always say, ‘Why do you center on me when there are others to blame as well?’ When your ‘freeze the target,’ you disregard these [rational but distracting] arguments.... Then, as you zero in and freeze your target and carry out your attack, all the ‘others’ come out of the woodwork very soon. They become visible by their support of the target...’

“One acts decisively only in the conviction that all the angels are on one side and all the devils on the other.” (pps.127-134)

Rumor has it rove is a closet queen... and a wife and children are not proof that he is not... ask the past dim Governor of NJ. All of these evilcrats and people of low character using character assassination, is disgusting and a leftist tactic... and rove is a leftist... like krauthammer, barnes, gingrich, huckster and mitt.

You’ve got to wonder if Rove really likes dudes or SOMETHING. What he is peddling about O’Donnell is sick and demented, every bit as much as witchcraft itself! Someone mused that this goof has never been as critical of any Democrat as he is of Christine. I never liked the guy, and now I loathe him. Something doesn’t add up! Bob

Yeah, which is more “extremist”?

Someone who is a MARXIST,
or someone who has the support of at least 40% of the population (Tea Party “enthusiasts” and “admirers”)?

You think that Rove is familiar with Alinsky? Sounds like he’s talking from his playbook! Bob

Which witch is which? Which is the better story from 1999? Witchcraft, or a Wild Limo Ride?

I agree. I despise rove and the more I learn about him and Bush... I am despising Bush for ever listening to rove. I hate to say it but the left was right about rove... but for different reasons... he is a leftist and the left painted him as to the right of khan... which was a lie... rove is a leftist liar and enemy within.

Much to the chagrin of the lesbian feminists of the Democrat Party, I heard that Christine O'Donnell was playing with an Easy Bake oven and having TEA PARTIES when she was 6yo!!!

By the way, who was Christine O’Donnell way back when to have even been invited onto the Bill Maher show so many times? Anyone know?

She was the spokes person for a christian conservative group and then later founded the group S.A.L.T. Bill Maher just wanted to get into her pants which is why she was on the show so many times.

I’m thinking that the average voter is totally fed up with ‘big government’ and the left-wing tactics of character assassination that are substituted for substantive policy debate. Christine O’Donnell is a credible candidate and the fact that the left (along with Karl Rove and Charles Krauthammer) are using sometimes vague and near-frivolous accusations and ‘questions’ to discredit her is deplorable, considering how far left her opponent is in his political beliefs. I think voters see through the ‘nuts-and-sluts’ strategy and will vote O’Donnell into the senate, if for no other reason than to spite the elites on both the left and the right.
