Press Releases Contact: Brendan Daly/Nadeam Elshami Drew Hammill/202-226-7616 For Immediate Release 09/20/2010 Pelosi: Effects Of Bush Recession Are Still Being Felt by Millions of Americans and Small Businesses

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today on a report from the National Bureau of Economic Research declaring that the Bush recession ended in June 2009:

“Today, some economists determined that the Bush recession officially ended more than a year ago, but we know that because of its severity, the effects of the Bush recession are still being felt by millions of Americans and small businesses. We have and we will continue to act to create jobs, strengthen our economy, and move in the right direction.

“That’s why – despite Republican opposition and months of Senate Republican obstruction and delay – this week the House will pass the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act and send it to President Obama for his signature into law. This fully paid-for bill will help create 500,000 jobs, reduce taxes for small businesses, and provide hundreds of billions of dollars in private sector capital to small businesses so they can innovate and hire new workers.

“Congressional Republicans have made it clear that will oppose all efforts to help small businesses grow, voting against nearly all of the eight tax cuts for small businesses that have been signed into law. Top Republicans have opposed our ‘Make It in America’ manufacturing agenda that will create good-paying jobs here in America. In fact, from their opposition to Wall Street reform to wanting to repeal new patients’ rights, the Republican agenda continues to be about taking care of big corporations and sending American jobs overseas.

“With legislation like the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act, we will continue to move forward to economic security for all Americans. We will put an end to the Bush recession that Americans can really feel and build a stronger new foundation for our economic future.”

The economy started swirling down the toilet in Jan 2007 when the Dems took control of the House and Senate. That's Nancy and Harry. The first perceptible nosedive occurred right as they forced minimum wage up again. The Dems own the disastrous economy. Nancy is just senile if she thinks we're buying what she's selling.

I won't. Let her drop dead, already.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

Pelosi is elderly, and a lefty. Now put that in the context of a political storm where her side is about to get clobbered.

This is all she has, beat the Bush horse even though there’s nothing but bones there.

If it weren’t so sad, and so destructive, it would be funny.

On the morning of November 3rd.

If they are wise, they would not pull any shenanigans this mid-term elections. People are pissed and the only thing I believe keeping the pol's up-right is people are waiting for November to be heard at the ballot box. Start playing with that, (some) people may just decide to be heard through higher velocity messages (not saying I am, not saying I condone it either. But lets be real, the country is a pressure cooker right now under A LOT of pressure; its not going to surprise me when people start to snap)

I know that no republican candidates are trolling FR right now, but could one of them please put Nancy in her place.

It’s easy.

2007 - democrats take over.
2007 - recession.
Nancy - it’s your fault.

OK, here’s my view. What caused the problem? The housing industry! When the bottom fell out of that so did everything that supported it. It was a total disaster. I was awoken every morning here in 2008 by the power hammers and concrete and lumber trucks driving by. Now I can hear the doves cooing in the morning.

Think of how many industries are affected by building a home, not only the carpenters, electricians, roofers, or masons, it also affects restaurants, furniture stores, carpet stores, swimming pool installers, appliance sales, decorators, Insurance brokers, and each of those affect even more areas. Our economy is based on the combustion engine and home building. You mess with those two and you are just asking for trouble. If this was a dictatorship, Dodd and Frank would have been put up against the wall by now.

The American auto industry lost out too, if the people tied to the building industry aren’t making the money, they can’t afford the high cost of vehicles or the gas required to run them. When I again hear the sound of the power hammers and the roar of moving trucks, then I’ll know the economy is back on track. I don’t blame Bush for it, its not the Presidents job to run the economy, its our job. The law makers are the ones who have to be held responsible for their actions. Amen.

Actually, Nancy, the economy went into the crapper when this happened.
