Fort Bliss on lockdown, that's all it says right now
(Excerpt) Read more at foxnews.com ...
On post, or across the border?
That’ll be interesting to hear.
Ft. Bliss in El Paso was home to ADA troops and the Army Sergeants Major Academy, last I heard.
Something said about a convenience store on Fort Bliss, according to FOX.
Another anti-military jihad?
My son-in-law trained at Ft. Bliss before his deployment in 2008.
Lord, protect our troops and all innocent parties.
Oh no not again..
I wish they would arm our heroes so they can shoot back..
Twitter is saying murder/suicide at a Burger King. no verification
Ugh. Murder/suicide sounds like a spouse caught cheating.
First Armored Division is moving there.
90% of the time that's exactly what happens. Do you remember the murders at Ft Bragg a few years past? The media of course zeroed in on PTSD bla bla bla.....
Anti-Gun Advocate Greg Nickels Appointment to UN and Gun Rights Policy Conference in San Francisco
By Bob Price
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) expressed deep concern about the recent appointment of former Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels by the Obama Administration to the United Nations. Nickels is being appointed as an alternate representative to the United Nations.
According to CCRKBA, Nichols is a founding member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns and previously authored Seattles failed attempt to override the Washington State firearms preemption statute. Nichols was sworn in on Wednesday to help represent the United States in the UN Assembly.
CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb said While he was Seattles mayor, Greg Nickels supported every anti-gun scheme put forth by Washington CeaseFire, the Northwests most active gun prohibition lobby.
Nickels is a gun ban proponent, he continued, so his appointment as an alternate to the UN is a clear signal of Barack Obamas intention to rubber stamp the UNs global gun ban agenda. We had to sue Nickels while he was still Seattles mayor to overturn his illegal city parks gun ban. Now he gets to push his anti-gun philosophy on a world scale. It hardly seems a coincidence that Nickels has been appointed by the Obama administration at a time when the UN is considering treaties and initiatives that pose a serious threat to the Second Amendment. The Obama admistration is being watched closely by gun rights groups such as CCKBRA, the NRA and the 2nd Amendment Foundation. It is believed they will use some form of a treaty with the UN as a means to bypass the 2nd Amendment guarantees of gun ownership in America.
On September 24th through 26th, the CCRKBA and the 2nd Amendment Foundation will host their annual Gun Rights Policy Conference in San Francisco, CA. Gun owners from across the nation will gather in the city with some of the most restrictive gun regulations in the country to discuss how to protect gun rights for all Americans.
The November 2nd election is very important for the protection of gun rights. Get out and vote! And make certain your friends who are of like mind are registered and informed!

Hey, hey, this is total nonsense. EVERYONE knows you can’t carry a gun on post unless you’re an MP!
It may be a store NEAR the base so the base is on stand down to be cautious. We don’t know.
Well... happening in a stop-n-rob changes things a little. Robbery gone south?
Okay my bad. I am sorry. “Shopette” sounds like it is ON base.
I thought the media was unsure of location.
That’s possible, but I’ve never heard of a post being locked down due to shootings off-post.
Shoppettes are ON post....its like a 7-11
I know, there’s one about a quarter-mile away from where I sit.
See post # 22, my bad.
I know I agree but after Fort Hood if it was an off base shooting I was thinking they were being extra cautious. But it sounds like on base.
I trained at Ft. Bliss too before deploying to Iraq. Good training, not much in the way of creature comforts. The barracks we used dated back to the horse cavalry days.
love triangle gone bad?
EL PASO, Texas — Fort Bliss officials said two people were shot on post at a shopette on Monday afternoon
Fort Bliss officials said the shooter was dead. The FBI is investigating. The post was not put on lockdown.
I know EXACTLY where that BK is—its on Cassidy road, right near a convenience store and by the Wells Fargo Bank—both of which are real close to the PX. Spent more than a year there (4/2007 to 5/2008) while my son was deployed to Korea—often took my two grandsons to the BK.
shooter has been shot...just heard
sorry folks, wrong article.
FKOX: “2 victims involved in shooting”.
EL PASO, Texas — A Fort Bliss leader says two people were shot at a shopette on post Monday afternoon and that the gunman is dead.
Col. Joseph A. Simonelli Jr. declined to discuss details or identify the victims of the shooting incident.
Oh that was the only link I could find and it did not have a date.
yes, I just figured it out. Sorry - I did a search and didn’t realize there was another one as well. Very sad times at the base.
Seems crazy that any kid would go on base to rob a shopette--if that's what happened--but, then again, it may be one of the only convenience stores in EP where there would be no guns! ARGGH
The shooting involving the death of Ezra Smith was back in 2009
The timeline is from 2009.. please check the dates on these articles!!
KFOX: “Shooter Killed By Fort Bliss Law Enforcement”
KVIA Local News:
EL PASO, Texas — The second in command at Fort Bliss says two people were shot at a shopette on post Monday afternoon and that the gunman is dead.
Col. Joseph A. Simonelli Jr. declined to discuss details or identify the victims of the shooting incident. He also declined to say what condition the victims were in.
Chill, we’re past that and I asked the mods to pull it. And there is no date on it!
OK—now I’m confused—the date on the KFOX article is for today, but it seems the shooting of “Gerald” was a while ago—and FOX NEWS hasn’t given any recent info—guess their satellite link is down. Just hope no soldiers—or any of members of their families—got hurt.
FORT BLISS, Texas -- The Fort Bliss commander said the alleged shooter was shot, killed after a shooting at a small grocery store on post Monday. Col. Joseph A. Simonelli Jr. said two people were victims in the shooting. Simonelli said the shooting was reported about 3 p.m. and authorities responded in about three minutes. Simonelli said the area was roped off for an FBI investigation, but the sprawling facility next to El Paso was never under lockdown. Stay tuned for updates on this breaking story Link.
Back in the 1980s at Fort Lewis WA, the 2nd Ranger Battalion had a captain whose wife was sleeping with one of his sergeants. An E5 IIRC. The two were "in love" and to the degree that they decided to pull a stunt out of the movie "Body Heat." The wife would pretend to hear a noise downstairs and urge her hubby to go check it out. She would say: "Here, take this GUN..." The gun would be UNLOADED of course. When the unwitting hubby confronted the "intruder," said intruder would cap him.
The plan went off without a hitch and unsuspecting hubby trusted his wife that the gun was loaded when it was not and so he was DOA. The whole thing came unraveled when the sergeant went back to the barracks and blabbed. LOL. Too bad about the captain, though. But the obvious moral here is.... ALWAYS make certain of the condition of your firearm before commencing hostile actions!
Thanks—the only “small grocery stores” I remember at Bliss were the shopettes. There was one on Cassidy (and one of the main gates to the post is on Cassidy)—also one right near the officer’s housing development where my son and his family lived (think the street it was on is Jeb Stuart).
