The Doctor May Get In (Challenger to Rep. John Dingell (D-MI))
NRO ^ | 09/20/10 | Brian Bolduc

Posted on 09/20/2010 4:16:27 PM PDT by coaltrain

Politico put pols in a tizzy last week when it suggested that Rep. John Dingell might be in trouble. The 84-year-old incumbent has held his seat since 1955...

[Robert] Steele [his Republican challenger] tells NRO, “The news doesn’t bother me in the least.” His campaign plans to start airing ads today or tomorrow; and they, he hopes, will bridge the gap in name ID. Rather, he’s more fired up about the DCCC’s website, which calls him “an ultra-wealthy doctor who made millions off the broken health care system.”

“The fat cat is John Dingell who lived in DC since he was 7 years old and who gets all his money from PACs and special interests,” Steele, a 52-year-old cardiologist from Ann Arbor. “I’ve never participated in partisan politics in my life. . . . The real reason I’m running is I just couldn’t get to be 80 years old and look back and say I didn’t try to protect [our way of life] for my kids and grandkids.”

So Dingell has been in DC all his life, contributing nothing positive to society, just sucking off the government teet. Then Dingell has the nerve to bad mouth his opponent, a cardiologist, who earned his money, as Dingell says, from the broken health care system. Like the respected doctor is somehow scamming the system. Not from years of schooling, training and treating sick patients.

Unfortunately Dingell has a decent lead, but Steele sounds like a fighter.

Did John Dingell EVER have any other job?

If not, then how is he going to polish his resume? This is not 55 years of experience, it is one year’s experience some 55 times.

Over that span of time he has learned nothing and forgotten nothing, much like the Bourbons of France or the Hapsburgs of Austria.

I heard a clip from Dingell on Glenn Beck this afternoon. It was the one where he was comparing the Tea Party (during the summer town halls) to the Klu Klux Klan.

What a despicable man. It would be a nice cap on November 2nd to hear he’s lost his seat.

If nothing else he will get his name out there. I lived in this district for many years. Not a chance in the world a republican can win it. We are talking Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti (2 far left cities) and Dearborn.

FIFTY-FIVE FREAKING YEARS! He has been in the same office since before most of the people in the US were born! He just WILL NOT give up the power he has accrued until they stuff him in a box and bury him. And the sooner bastards like him are dead and gone, the better off the country will be.

Probably the least likely of 4 possible pickups in Michigan but I’m glad to see someone trying. I’ve even spared a couple dollars for his campaign since the 7th district looks pretty good for now.

Too funny, either he or his father have been in that seat since the 30’s. History could happen this year.

I agree. Funny how the politicans think of people in their 50’s, 60’s and 70’s as fragile and have to be taken care of and this ***** congressman are 85 and somtimes older by their own words they should be put in a assissted living facility. “It takes a long time to control the People” shut up and go away dingleball

I think a good ad to use against Dingell would show a photo of him on one side of the screen. On the other, the years scrolling by and a ticker of how many taxpayer dollars his career has cost.

At the end, simply a black screen with the words “55 years and x ammount of dollars. Had enough?”

I still remember Al Gore stalking Dubya during one of the 2000 election debates, hounding him about some stupid Gun bill or something, and Gore trying to show how smart he was because he could name the sponsors...”What about Dingell-Norwood?” he asked in a smarmy way.

Dubya just ignored him. :)

I found a Dingell Norwood article...apparently it was another attempt, as Dingell put it, to “control the people”.

In other words, it was an attempt to give government more control of your health care:

Amen, amen, and amen.

Don’t wait for this SOB to actually croak, put him out to pasture NOW.

C’mon you Dimmocrat buttwipes in Dingleberries’ district. Give us ONE good stinkin’ reason that you let this senile old fart who has been sucking at the public teat for 55 YEARS run yet again, when you could have found a straight-up Democrat who might, just might, restore some honor to your pathetic district.

This is not 55 years of experience

No it's not. It's actually 77 years of one family earning it's fortune off us Michigan taxpayers............Dingell's old man was elected Congressman in 1933 and Dingellee took over the job in 1955 when his old man died..........

The guy is a multi-millionaire who made his fortune solely due to his political influences and his wife who was a paid lobbyist for GM at the time they married..........

So Dingell has been in DC all his life, contributing nothing positive to society, just sucking off the government teet.

Dingell and his cheerleaders at the DCCC have some gall to call his opponent "an ultrawealthy doctor who made millions off the broken health care system." What a bigoted stereotype! How the heck do they know how much Dr. Steele has made unless the 'Rats are illegally tapping into his tax returns? And regardless of how much he made from his medical practice, he has contributed infinitely more to the benefit of the country by prolonging and improving the lives of his patients. Contrast that to Dingell and his Democrat pals who has only contributed to hampering the careers of physicians and other professionals by imposing government control over them!

And will someone please ask doddering Dingell why the health care system is so badly "broken" that he has to be a cheerleader for Obamacare, which will suck out any humanity that remains in the system at a horrendous cost to society.

The good Dr. was on Mark Levin last night, 9/21.

Go here: http://www.marklevinshow.com/sectional.asp?id=32930#

Click on 9/21, it will open a new window with the player.

Slide the time bar to the 89 -90 minute mark, you should come in at or the caller before Dr Steele, and tweak it so you can hear the entire interview.

To you nay-sayers Believe, Believe !!!!

I wholeheartedly agree with this, as well as you other points. What is sad is that class envy is very prevelent in this district, so he is just going by the standard playbook.

dingel is the one that should do a little soul searching, he’s made himself wealthy sucking off the gov’t teat for decades. While doing immeasurable HARM to the public. If you email your friends nothing else,, email them the first 2 links. I make copies and hand them out as I’m campaigning for Charlotte Bergmann http://www.charlottebergmann.com/. Her opponent a 2 term POS like dingle dismisses her. He’s white, jewish, dem, socialist listed, and considers his district ‘safe’. She’s black, Christian, conservative and Memphis Tea Party backed. The state GOP must smell an upset, they normally do not do much for GOP candidates that run for the US 9TN, but this time they are actually giving her backing. Now if we can only gin up some extra funding for her like has been done for O’Donnell and Miller we might get it done. She only needs to pick up 15% of the independent and black vote to beat him. Given Memphis is 10% unemployment, more like 17% with under employment, and the blacks are beginning to scream loudly about the illegals ‘taking’ their jobs.
