Skip to comments.Rep. Jackson: I did nothing wrong but 'deeply sorry' over 'social acquaintance'

U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) said Tuesday he is deeply sorry for having disappointed some supporters regarding his relationship with a female social acquaintance.
But the congressman vowed to stay in office in the wake of a Chicago Sun-Times report that a major political fund-raiser has told federal authorities that Jackson directed him to offer former Gov. Rod Blagojevich millions of dollars in campaign cash in return for an appointment for Jackson to the U.S. Senate, to succeed President Obama.
The allegation by Oak Brook businessman Raghuveer Nayak regarding fund-raising runs counter to public statements Jackson has made as recently as last week that he never authorized any deal to attempt to trade campaign cash for the Senate appointment, which ultimately went not to Jackson but to Sen. Roland Burris.
The allegations about fund-raising and the Senate seat are not new, SNIP
The very idea of raising millions of dollars for a campaign other than my own is preposterous, Jacksons statement said. My interest in the Senate seat was based on years of public service, which I am proud of, not some improper scheme with anyone. SNIP Sources said Nayak also told authorities that Jackson asked him to pay to fly a Washington, D.C., restaurant hostess named Giovana Huidobro described as a social acquaintance of the Democratic congressman to Chicago to visit him. Nayak did so twice, according to the sources.
Jackson didnt address Nayaks allegation involving payment for those flights, which could raise ethical questions under the U.S. House of Representatives gift ban act.
But Jackson acknowledged knowing Huidobro and that the relationship was something he an his wife, Ald. Sandi Jackson, have had to deal with.

I bet he is!
Rahmbo mailing out more fish?
not quite a mea-culpa, is it? A press-release apology: "give 'em some gobbledy-gook and they'll think it's all OK."
“...which could raise ethical questions under the U.S. House of Representatives gift ban act.”
But we’ve already been told the House Ethics Committee is racist for only investigating black congresspeople, so don’t expect them to add fuel to the racism claim
When I was first told by a staff member that my southern precincts were dallying in the valley, why, I was furious, absolutely furious, I can tell you. I immediately ordered a full investigation, and I have decided not to make any further comment until the investigatory process has run it’s course.
He’s a hound dog just like his dad.
He’ll probably run for mayor of Chicago. Many Blacks don’t care what he did.
CREW doesn’t seem at all bothered.
Nice looking slut.
Pray for America
CREW is a bad joke!!! They ONLY go after Republicans and some loser Dems.
What is his wife saying about this dalliance?????
I thought I was reading an old news story from years ago. Seems Jesse said almost the same thing after his affair was discovered that he had with a woman, who gave birth to his illegitimate child. I remember him apologizing for his "mistake" then.
Just a mistake...that's what Dems call something they did on purpose...but get exposed later for their illegal or immoral actions. Just a mistake...and that is supposed to wipe it away. Now, herre's another of his "mistakes" with this supposed offer to Blago. How many "mistakes" do these clowns get?
“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”, I’d wager...
Call me sick of these parasites calling their feeding at the pig trough..."a public service".
They all just piss me off....
Hey, baby, I wanna get real acquainted which you bein' sociable.
