Republicans Shamelessly Standing Between Our Troops and What They Need To Do Their Jobs,Keep Us Safe
United States Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid ^ | September 21, 2010 | United States Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

Posted on 09/21/2010 1:10:01 PM PDT by mdittmar

Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement after Republicans blocked a cloture motion that would have opened debate on the Defense Authorization bill funding critical assistance for our troops:
“Republicans are again playing politics with our national security.  Today they blocked the Senate from debating a bill that would give our troops the resources they need to keep America safe – stopping not only funding for combat vehicles and bulletproof vests or measures to improve our military’s readiness, but even a well-earned pay raise to help our troops and their families make ends meet.
“I am disappointed that my Republican colleagues put partisan politics ahead of the best interests of the men and women who courageously defend our nation.  Democrats will continue to fight for our troops and will work to ensure that our troops have the resources they need to do their jobs.”

The man has no shame whatever. If I wasn’t tempted to break him into itty bitty pieces, I’d be laughing.

"Republicans are again playing politics with our national security."

"Now I believe, myself, that the secretary of state, the secretary of defense and you have to make your own decision as to what the president knows: that this war is lost, that the surge is not accomplishing anything,"

Harry Reid, D-Nev

Did Reid actually say this with a straight face?

I don’t know why the democrats even bother with stupid statements like this. Nobody believes the GOP is trying to harm the military yet these idiots make these childish claims like clockwork.

Left unsaid..."I hope Americans remain ignorant and never find out about me putting partisan politics ahead of the best interests of the men and women who courageously defend our nation by putting some BS amendments in the bill."

"I'm Harry Reid, and I just want to say never mind what's behind the curtain. The tax payer funded illegal college bill and the taxpayer funded abortion bill attached to this means nothing. It's about our troops. Yeah, the troops. That's what this bill is really about.

I said ... DON'T look behind that curtain!"

Some of the news wires are saying that Harry Reid privately knew this wouldn’t pass, but his intent was to “fire” up the demorat base.

Desparate times show what a whore Reid is. Prostituting himself for power.

Anybody who thinks Democrats give a crap about our troops for anything more than occasional use as a patriotic fig-leaf won't find their way to a voting booth anyway.

But in this case, the Slave Party has broadened it's horizons and found yet a new way to make use of the military: Hiding their thug agenda deep in appropriations bills in time of war.

"Cynical" has found a new nadir. Way to go Harry.

Are we sure this will make troops less safe? Hasn’t seemed to hurt the Israelis.

For those who think there is no difference between the two parties....Do you think a Republican controlled Senate would have added DADT and the Dream Act to a military appropriations bill?

Just asking?

Odd, he doesn't mention buggery and niños ilegales as things the military desperately needs. This bill would have passed easily without the crap Reid added at the last minute.
