The Carter-Obama Comparisons Grow (Walter Mondale himself sees a parallel)
WSJ ^ | SEPTEMBER 20, 2010 | JOHN FUND

Posted on 09/21/2010 8:28:25 PM PDT by RobinMasters

Comparisons between the Obama White House and the failed presidency of Jimmy Carter are increasingly being made—and by Democrats.

Walter Mondale, Mr. Carter's vice president, told The New Yorker this week that anxious and angry voters in the late 1970s "just turned against us—same as with Obama." As the polls turned against his administration, Mr. Mondale recalled that Mr. Carter "began to lose confidence in his ability to move the public." Democrats on Capitol Hill are now saying this is happening to Mr. Obama.

Mr. Mondale says it's time for the president "to get rid of those teleprompters and connect" with voters. Another of Mr. Obama's clear errors has been to turn over the drafting of key legislation to the Democratic Congress: "That doesn't work even when you own Congress," he said. "You have to ride 'em."

He tried connecting recently in a Town Hall style meeting where one of his supporters, a “middle-class black woman”, told him point blank (and I’m paraphrasing) that she is “exhausted” with trying to defend him and that she wants to see the meaningful kind of change she voted for. So dropping the teleprompters isn’t going to help, only governing to the will of the People will help and I’m afraid it’s not within this President’s capability to do so.

It’s funny how the liberals keep thinking it is just his presentation is off. It never occurs to them that the people just don’t like his politics and policies now matter how they are marketed. Liberals just do not fathom that people do not want Marxist policies. Would you rather stand in a government soup line for your needs or get them from a vibrant free market economy? The liberals assume the people want the soup line (What’s a matter with Kansas?).

Obama aides were "twitchy perhaps about inviting any comparison (to Mr. Carter) in the run-up to the very difficult mid-term elections." Democrats need no reminding that Mr. Carter wound up costing them dearly in 1978 and 1980 as Republicans made major gains in Congress.

This November it will be de je vu all over again.

Or for the red diaper doper babies like Obama it will be nasty LSD flash backs.

Without TOTUS, every Barky speech would last at least ten times longer. For that reason alone it'll never go away.

The other observation Mondull missed is he and Biden. Both were unelectable blowhards for president.
I enjoy that this idiot actually thinks he sees a parallel between rotten presidents doing irresponsible things angering the voters and those voters turning against said president like it is something new. How novel.
Now who was Carter’s Larry Sinclair?
