Barack Obama's Bob Woodward gamble (Barry's dumb bet, lol)
politico ^ | 9/22/2010 | Mike Allen

Early in Barack Obama’s term, he and his aides faced a rite of passage familiar to every White House for the past 40 years: What to do about Woodward?

In Obama’s case, the answer came quickly: The White House doors swung wide for the world’s most successful non-fiction writer. Once inside, the author was treated to a buffet of access to bold-faced names—Biden, Clinton, Gates, Panetta—topped off with a sit-down with Obama himself.

“Obama’s Wars,” Bob Woodward’s 16th book—the previous 15 have all been best-sellers and often dominated the news upon release—comes out Monday. Administration officials believe, but so far don’t know for sure, that their bet on lavishing the Watergate legend with cooperation paid off with a largely sympathetic portrait they expect looks something like this:

A young commander-in-chief, with no military experience, inherits festering, deteriorating conditions in Afghanistan. After some scraps with military brass who were testing their limits, Obama draws on his innate confidence and deftly brings together competing factions of his own war cabinet behind a hybrid plan that includes a troop “surge” not unlike the one in Iraq, which he had denounced as a candidate.

But there already are reasons to believe that the portrait will not be entirely what the White House team bargained for, and that Obama—far from mastering his competing groups of advisers—will be seen as tugged and pulled by them and by his own deep misgivings about the Afghan war and its chances of success.

Barry's ego has once again bit him in the butt. Even his cheerleaders at Politico can't put a happy face on Woodward's portrayal of the Obama White House.

Barry is so used to getting positive press that he could probably not imagine Woodward writing something bad about him. Woodward, even though a lib, has at least a shred of journalistic integrity left and writes what he found.

If their bet on giving Woodward access turns out wrong, White House aides will have little grounds for complaining that Woodward is out of the loop. At times during the reporting, according to administration officials and other sources familiar with the book, Woodward surprised top defense and intelligence officials by coming in for interviews armed with classified maps, in some cases labeled with code names for clandestine operations.

Nice to see the White House treats classified information so carefully. An investigation should be launched into who gave Woodward the classified info and they shold be fired and jailed post haste.

I certainly hope so....

... and Woodward is a lefty, so you know he's dressed things up quite a bit already.

The White House doors swung wide for the world’s most successful non-fiction writer.

Woodward has been known to pen some fiction, as well. The whole William Casey death bed tale is anorexically thin.

Jennifer Griffith and Fox News had a little different take:

Woodward might have thrown Obama a bone (sort of) in that “get out of Afghanistan” could possibly ignite his base of anti-war democrats to support him by a higher turn out of those democrats in November.

This is in the right direction. I can’t believe none of these rifts and infightings never happened before Nov 2008. Yet the journ0Lists were more than happy to foist this retard onto American public.

With that in mind, Woodward’s rehab for his reputation still has a long way to go.

Remember the Clinton guy who stuffed classified docs in his pants? Sandy Berger, I think. I see a pattern of - maybe reckless disregard for national security...

When it comes to the ‘war effort’ - somehow it doesn’t seem right to be publishing so much ‘internal’ stuff during a current administration’s term. I feel that way, regardless of who is in office. I’m more concerned about exposing deficiencies (which, when it comes to Obama there doesn’t seem to be a short supply) out in public for our enemies to take advantage of.

Woodward’s book will confirm, sadly, what we’ve all known for months: Obama is incompetent and dangerous.

Woodward’s track record is good. He is methodical and unrelenting in documenting his facts. As the article says, “ “He does have this virulent independent streak, which is frankly a source of his credibility.”

So maybe this will open some eyes that have been wearing blinders.

"We can absorb a terrorist attack. We'll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever . . . we absorbed it and we are stronger." Barrack Hussein Obama 2010

THIS is Barry's legacy.

The excerpt from the Washington Post is even worse. Obama says we can “absorb a terrorist attack”, so for political reasons we are surrendering in Afghanistan, even though that would prevent terrorist attacks. Obama says without a withdrawal deadline, he would lose the entire Democratic Party.

Journalist's, interpretation of situations and the power of thought (especially in the case of a prize/award winning author) is indeed, effective in the mind of the readers of his book. Let us pray it is accurate and relatively unbiased.

How refreshing an idea ... Unbiased. It could happen!

If you want to know what's happening, you don't read Woodward.
Try Ambrose Evans-Pritchard.

Woodward is a writer of historical fiction, or what he hopes will becomne history the way he has it planned. He's altogether unreliable. I always thought it [possible he was a KGB mole.

Sensing that our fearlessly ineligible POTUS is drain-bound, which anyone could have told him in November 2008, Woodward is merely going to finish nailing his coffin closed; along with everyone else in the country who can still read without moving their lips.

He'll sell lots of books and speak at Tea Parties.

The book also says that Obama ignored all his generals, and instead came up with his own 6 page strategy for surrender.

I’ve always taken Woodward with a BIG grain of salt. I am hoping, however, that he has enough truth in this book to encourage another segment of Obama voters to begin to open their eyes.

Very possible....it does kinda make sense that Obama’s base would be inspired by confirmation that Obama is a sniveling, anti american,narcissist,coward...lol.

But Obama/Woodward have to know that this is going to ‘ignite’ our side ever more too.
