Bishop Eddie Long Hit With Lawsuit, Two Men Claim He Coerced Them Into Sex

LITHONIA, Ga. (CBS/WGCL) Two Georgia men have accused Bishop Eddie Long, the outspoken pastor of an Atlanta-area megachurch and anti-gay activist, of abusing his position by coercing them into sexual relationships when they were adolescent members of his congregation, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday.

The men, now 20 and 21, claimed Long misused his spiritual authority by seducing them with lavish gifts such as cars, money, clothes, international trips, jewelry and access to celebrities when they were 17-and 18-year-old members of the pastor's New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Ga., reports CBS affiliate WGCL.

Lawyers for the men say they filed the lawsuit in DeKalb County Court Tuesday, which states, "defendant Long has utilized his spiritual authority to coerce certain young male members ... into engaging in sexual acts and relationships for his own personal sexual gratification."

CNN Headline news is running this story, repeatedly showing photos of this guy hugging President Bush, as if to try to implicate him in this scandal.

Long has taken the conservative side on several key issues, particularly “gay rights.” They will crucify him over this—even if it should happen that he is not guilty.

If this is untrue, they will crucify him anyway because he is a conservative during an election cycle.

Not to worry, Fox Special Report had a picture of him sporting a very heavy gold nugget bracelet. The man is into bling.

lavish gifts such as cars, money, clothes, international trips, jewelry and access to celebrities

If this happened, there should be a money trail and other documentation. No doubt prosecutors will look for it.

Bizarre.

I do not know of he is guilty or not. Either way though it is a win for reality in my opinion...

Either this is a case of a homosexual sex predator or it is a case of unethical homosexual sex accusers attempting to disparage an opposing voice...

Regardless, we see homosexual sex once again the premise of self destruction...

. . . repeatedly showing photos of this guy hugging President Bush, as if to try to implicate him in this scandal

This came from Eddie Long's church after the last election:

From the church website:

Q: What does the New Birth Logo represent?
A: It is the Cross, Shield (which represents the shield of faith) and Dove which represents The Holy Spirit).

btw, congrats for your usage of the word 'ersatz'. Well done.

As for Bishop Long, I pray that these charges are untrue. Having said that, my main criticism of Long is that he has no covering. I believe every man should be accountable to another human being, and that especially goes for church leadership. Unfortunately, Long is accountable only to himself. He has no church covering over him. He is setting himself up for trouble.
