Posted on 09/23/2010 5:30:07 AM PDT by Kaslin
Barney Frank just blinked, and everyone in Massachusetts knows it.
Former President Bill Clinton will appear to endorse Barney Frank in Taunton, MA, on September 26. When he announced President Clintons visit, Frank attempted to deflect the inference that he is concerned about the election by asserting that the visit was President Clintons idea. Sean Bielat — the young, attractive Republican challenger — accused Frank of running scared:
Its like David and Goliath, and Goliath just got a tag team from his older brother.
Indeed, Bielat, who has a prominent jaw reminiscent of Jay Leno’s, has shown that he can use Franks ethical lapses to good effect by using humor and satire and without being mean-spirited.
While Bielat takes heart from Senator Scott Browns successful Senate run, Frank appears to be focusing on his real weaknesses. The Democratic politically correct lessons from Martha Coakleys loss are attributed to Coakley being a poor candidate who ran a bad campaign — no blame is assigned to the policies of the Obama administration. As is the case with Sarah Palin, Coakleys election victories in Middlesex County for district attorney, her election statewide as attorney general, and her defeat of other elected Democrats in the primary are discounted. She was defeated because she did not campaign hard and did not know enough about the Red Sox.
Frank knows better. He does not underestimate Bielat, nor will he underestimate the real negatives that he faces.
Why will President Clinton give the endorsement, and not President Obama or another Democratic leader? Frank needs to separate himself from the economic policies of the Obama adminstration in which he has been a major player, and associate himself with the economy of the Clinton years. Further, Frank surely remembers that in the Democratic presidential primary of 2008, Hillary Clinton soundly beat Obama, and that Obamas highly publicized visit to Massachusetts to endorse Coakley was not effective. Frank is even running away from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, even though he has until recently been their champion in Congress.
Why will President Clinton appear in Taunton, at the southern tip of the gerrymandered Fourth District, rather than in the populous northern portion including Brookline and Newton? With a $2.4 million campaign fund, Frank has probably conducted polling. By inference, Frank feels safe with the Volvo liberals and Jews of Newton and Brookline. However, he has discovered that the blue collar Democrats of Taunton and Fall River, who are unsure of their livelihoods and jealous of the vast funds handed to Wall Street and government unions, feel abandoned by the Washington elites and are ready to jump ship.
Why is President Clinton appearing on September 26, and not closer to Election Day? Frank knows that the Bielat campaign now has a mere tenth of the funds that he has amassed due to his chairmanship of the House Financial Services Committee. Frank needs to strike early before Sean Bielat attracts the funding that will appear once there is recognition that he is well-qualified to serve and has a good chance of being elected.
Based on the failure of the Republican National Committee to foresee the success of the conservative candidates backed by the Tea Party activists in several primaries, and the failure to discipline and control the selfish candidacy of Senator Lisa Murkowski, there is concern the RNC will fail to fully support a viable candidate with strong character and a fine resume.
Do we live in a time when Democrats are competent campaigners but destructive managers of the nation, while Republicans would be competent mangers of the nations affairs but incompetent campaigners?
Career politicians. Disgusting people.
You've got to be kidding! His oversight of Freddie and Fannie and continual statements that everything at those institutions "are in great shape" triggered the financial collapse that we are all living through now. If the GOP can't run a campaign and beat this windbag, then the GOP is doomed. I am so tired of the GOP saying: "We're taking the high road". Yeah, well keep right on doing it as you die along the path after being trampled by the Dems on their way to Washington. Until the GOP grows a pair, they will not get a dime of my money.
The BJ pres endorses the fudge packer... That’s rich.
Bless their hearts
Barney and Bill can wipe each other’s chins
There is no more corrupt politician than Bawney Frank. I hope his political epitaph is written this election. ‘Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are FINE’.
A Scott Brown ripple......................
Sean better watch his a** around Barney.
Dare we dream of Bawney Fwank getting beat!!!
Dare! I’ve seen a lot of Bielat lawn-signs in and around the district, especially down through the jerry-mandered southern towns.
I didn’t know that there was even a chance to oust Frank. Personally, I find him a small, vile person with no integrity or shame. Yes, he’s intelligent but uses his intelligence to try to think of more ways that socialism hasn’t yet failed. I don’t care about his sexuality, EXCEPT for the events that have shown that he is a book-smart person with no common sense, such as the gay prostitution ring and then marijuana farm that were run by his “partners”. Will the people of Mass. finally get rid of this guy?
Yeah, and there's a reward out for anyone who hears Bwaney say "Obamacare, bailout, TARP, summer of recovery."
A bonus is awarded if anyone sees Obama make a last-minute fly-in and disses Scott Brown's pickup.
Oh to see Barney thrown out and then convicted.
Hope springs eternal!
Barney Frank is the poster child for bringing back public flogging. I cannot remember a politician in my lifetime that needed flogging more than him. The arrogance of that, er, um, "man" is off the scale....
He should be, he has no skills...well other than...
he loves to rip people apart who dare challenge him on his insightful views
The voters in Barney Franks congressional district have a golden opportunity to destroy the Democrat party!!! Now, they can go on supporing Mr. Frank, but he will only continue to be destructive to the USA economy and remain a buffoon to his core. Voters of MA, wake up and get with the program!!! All Democrat liberals and left-wingers need to be defeated come November!!!

Very interesting. Where’s it from?
“Career politicians. Disgusting people.”
Barney’s disgusting, career politician or NOT.
This fact needs to be brought to the forefront before the elections. I'm pretty sure most people in America do not realize that Frank and his involvement with Freddie/Fannie Mac was a major cause.
I hope and pray that we manage to finally oust this spend-thrift. Him, Reid, & Pelosi have been in there long enough.
Unfortunately, he would probably enjoy it too much.
Why in the world would he want help from a rapist?
He is one of the few primarily responsible for the mortgage/credit meltdown (which drained a tremendous amount of money from middle class America) and triggered the current recession/depression.
He is also one of the few who then sold us all the resulting bailouts which are are not only taking even more from us, but also spread the bleeding to the next couple of generations. And that bastard laughs.
So again, what is the appropriate justice for such a public servant? I have a few ideas on that, but RE-election is not at the top of my list.
If there was any real justice Bawney’s head would be on a pike on that bridge than runs across to Arlington natl Cemetary. Think of all the people executed for treason in history and he’d be in the 90th percentile in terms of damage he has done to his country.
Oh, don’t forget to face his head away from DC.
I lived in MA-4 for 22 years.
If Barney Frank doesn’t get 65% of the vote on Election Day, I will be astonished.
“...has shown that he can use Frank’s ethical lapses....”
“ethical lapses” for Democrats.
“criminality” and “corruption” for Republicans and Conservatives.
Attention MA: Frank thinks you are idiots. Polls slip and he brings in BC and you’ll magically think you are wrong and vote for Barney moron.
What are you gonna do?
Vote his filthy ass out!!
Methinks Bawney dreams of Bawney getting beat.
You’ve got to be kidding! His oversight of Freddie and Fannie and continual statements that everything at those institutions “are in great shape” triggered the financial collapse that we are all living through now. If the GOP can’t run a campaign and beat this windbag, then the GOP is doomed. I am so tired of the GOP saying: “We’re taking the high road”. For the life of me, I feel the same way.
My God, just showing his picture & name stating, This is the guy that caused it all.” Should be enough.
From the article:
“[Coakley] was defeated because she did not campaign hard and did not know enough about the Red Sox.
Frank knows better.”
If Barney Frank is polishing up his knowledge of who’s on roster of the Red Sox, I’d be real vigilant in the locker room if I was a player for the Sox.
They’re all calling in Clinton now! Hillarious!!! He’s the only one that knows how to communicate with the Dem base. All these other yahoos are so out of touch that they can’t do it ... especially Obama.
Maybe the voters will show him that we are right here, on this very planet!
Barring a meltdown on Sean Bielat’s part, Barney won't get that. Scott Brown won this district in January, and the towns along 495 went 2-1 against Marsha. Right now, I've only seen a few signs for either candidate, but it will pick up soon.
And, the brothers didn't go for the icy white b*tch.
HRC, take note.
