ALBANY - Maybe Carl Paladino shouldn't get his hopes up after all.
A day after a statewide poll showed Paladino within striking distance of Andrew Cuomo, another survey out today shows the Democratic attorney general with a runaway 33 percentage point lead over the bombastic Buffalo developer.
The Siena College survey found Cuomo with 57 percent of the vote to 24 percent for Paladino and eight percent for Conservative Party candidate Rick Lazio, who was crushed in the GOP primary to Paladino last week.
The poll found Cuomo leading Paladino and Lazio in all regions of the state including New York City, 69-14-8, the suburbs, 52-23-13, and upstate, 49-35-5.
Cuomo led the other candidates among independent voters, 51-27-7, and among Democrats, 78-7-5, while Paladino was ahead of Cuomo and Lazio among Republicans, 54-23-14.
Cuomo led among women, 61-21-8, and men, 52-28-8.
The poll found voters ranking Cuomo the most effective candidate on seven key issues including job creation, education, and controlling taxes.
They also said Cuomo has the right experience and know-how for the job of governor.
The new poll was in sharp contrast to yesterday's stunning Quinnipiac University survey which found Cuomo holding a mere 49-43 percent lead over the Tea Party-linked Paladino, until now a virtual political unknown who has used heated and insulting rhetoric to gain attention, including questioning Cuomo's manhood'' and threatening to take a baseball bat to Albany.

So much for polls. What the hell is Lazio still doing in there? Don’t dead guys know when to lie down?
33 points behind, ridiculous. I dont know if its 6 but certainly not 33. These folks think we are stupid.
Come on New York, get some cojones and Vote Paladino!!!!
“A day after a statewide poll showed Paladino within striking distance of Andrew Cuomo, another survey out today shows the Democratic attorney general with a runaway 33 percentage point lead over the bombastic Buffalo developer.”
Another example of why I never pay a figs worth of attention to polls.
Sienna College has a poor track record for accuracy, by half.
Historically how accurate is Siena College polling versus Quinnapiac polling? (Just asking, as I truly do not know)
They’re both garbage. But there is more than one poll to back up the Q poll.
This is the only one who added Lazio into the mix rather than a generic ‘other’, which accounts for some of the difference.
I see. Thanks! About the only poll I bother to look at in detail anymore is Rasmussen, only because he appears to be the most accurate.
Yep:
“The two poll used different methodology with today’s Siena poll surveying self-described registered voters while Quinnipiac sought out what it described as self-described likely’’ voters.”
Garbage.
Gosh, 2010 is the year of the living dead candidates. Lazio, Murkowski, Crist.....
Siena is so horrible, Pollster.com doesn’t even bother to include them in their accuracy tabulations.
The only we can do about New York is to turn the federal spigot down as far as we can and make them pay for their stupidity....they only elect these bastards because they are on the government dole!
That’s nothing. A Madame Zorba Seance poll showed Teddy Roosevelt leading both candidates by more than 311 percent among registered voters, Elvis impersonators, and the Undead.
Is this the first poll with Lazio as the Constitution candidate? That could change the numbers.
That’s a typo. They meant to say Cuomo is up 63 points.
The poll found voters ranking Cuomo the most effective candidate on seven key issues including job creation, education, and controlling taxes.
And lets not forget housing. (/s)
Gotta practice my pinging skills! :-)
Please contact me if youre interested in being added on or taken off the Carl Paladino for Governor ping list. This looks to be a fairly high volume ping list for a while, probably until the election.
Likewise.
