You need to look at year 2 and 3 to be fair. However, it will not surprise me if there is a clause that if there are no claims that are legit that BP does not have to pay. I wonder, given the fact that very little oil ever reached shore and they can't find it now, if they will get maxed out. I am sure some lawyer will figure out a way to.
If you extended your analysis to all the lost jobs due to O's shutting down drilling offshore, and the income tax lost from those taxpayers, and the corp tax lost from those potential companies, and the jobless benefits cost due to those now unemployed, I bet it would paint an even starker picture of O's fiscal competence.

It will be spent. No doubt by the Obama’s “neutral” political appointee.
Don’t look for BP to get it back.

there was a reason the moritorium was enacted. It blurs the liability lines for losses between BP actions or Government actions.

Nothing, I would think.
That’s the purpose of escrow in this case.

Ooops.
I see they only payed in 1/3 so far.
I guess I’m not sure, in that case. I dont’ know where their promise falls in terms of priority during a bankruptcy.
