Jonathan Klein, president of CNN's US network, leaves his post today after a sudden announcement that he has been replaced by Ken Jautz, the head of CNN's downmarket but more popular sister channel HLN.
Klein's departure comes after a disastrous year for CNN, as its daily ratings slumped by 36% to an average of 640,000 weekday viewers, putting it in third place behind Fox News and MSNBC among cable news channels. Fox News averages 2.4m viewers while MSNBC has nearly 850,000. HLN averages around 550,000 on weekdays.

Get ready for more Nancy Grace!
CNN is just a mouthpiece for far left wing liberal commies hence CNN stands for The Commie News Network.
“CNN, as its daily ratings slumped by 36%”
Gee, where’s the “unexpected” tag? LOL.
Think about how many viewers they would have if they weren’t on in every airport in the country.
nice one
So why are they being fired now? They’ve been in a downward spiral for years. I believe it’s because they are frustrated that they no longer have any impact on the upcoming elections like they’re used to having.
Jon Klein got teabagged.
In the White House, 0bama proffers: “I know, let’s put a lesbian in charge of CNN.”
I force out a Jon Klein every morning.
He got fired because the new Elliot Spitzer show is going to be a massive failure and it was the final straw for Klein. I’d wager that the Larry King replacement will get dumped before his first show.
Does this mean they will stop calling the American citizenry the vulgar homosexual term ‘teabaggers’, Nazi’s, Islamaphobes, bigots, racists, stupid, Homophobes....?
Where is the diversity the left is always crowing about?
>she is the only one to remember on every show one of our fallen soldiers.
Well, for that matter, the NewsHour on PBS runs the honor roll of the fallen when the Pentagon releases the information.
They list with picture, hometown and rank of EVERY soldier that has fallen in OIF and OEF. In silence without any corny, schmaltzy music.
At the end of the broadcast, about 5 minutes before the hour.
The question here....is management ready to take two hours of prime-time and find a Fox-like commentator to steer the vessel?
I agree that the Spitzer program is mostly a failure already. They will give it twelve months before they admit it.
So here’s my dream competition episode...let CNN hire Rush. Run Rush against Fox at prime-time. Pound for pound, I think Rush could take forty percent of the share away from Fox for that two-hour period. That’s the only way that they can come back and sustain a profit for the company.
What? Not leftist enough?
They are replacing him with the head of the looney behar network.
