Rep. Mike Pence is likely to seek higher office, say fellow House Repubs (To Succeed Gov. Daniels?)

Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) will likely launch a bid for higher office after the November elections, according to several House Republicans.

Pence won the presidential straw poll at the Values Voter Summit on Saturday, intensifying speculation that the third-ranking House Republican has bigger aspirations than serving in the lower chamber.

Still, some believe Pence is more likely to try to become the next governor of Indiana instead of seeking to win the 2012 presidential primary.

With the state’s popular governor, Mitch Daniels (R), term-limited, Pence would have a clear opportunity to run for his party’s nomination. Daniels, meanwhile, is mulling a presidential bid....

Pence would be a FANTASTIC Governor; and by becoming Governor of a state, he would instantly propel himself to the status of "legitimate contender" for a future Presidential run!!!!!

Could you imagine getting to choose from Jindal, Pence, Christie, and a few others in an election cycle or two from now?! Wow!!!

Powerful Mike Pence speech on the presidency:
http://vimeo.com/15202566

Exerpts:

“The president is not our teacher, our tutor, our guide or ruler. He does not command us, we command him. We serve neither him nor his vision. It is not his job or his prerogative to redefine custom, law and beliefs; to appropriate industries; to seize the country, as it were, by the shoulders or by the throat so as to impose by force of theatrical charisma his justice upon 300 million others. It is neither his job nor his prerogative to shift the power of decision away from them, and to him and the acolytes of his choosing.”

“The President of the United States of America bows to no man.
You do not bow to kings.
When in foreign lands, you do not criticize your own country.
You do not argue the case against the United States, but, rather, the case for it.
You do not apologize to the enemies of the United States.
Should you be confused, a country, people, or region that harbors, shelters, supports, encourages, or cheers attacks upon our country, the slaughter of our children, our mothers, our fathers, our sisters, and brothers… are enemies of the United States. And, to repeat, you do not apologize to them.”

Governor makes a lot more sense for Pence. I'd like to see what he can do as an executive. His only career has been a lawyer, talk radio host, and congresscritter. He didn't serve in the military and was never really in business.

I wonder who would be a better pick in a primary - Mike Pence or Lt Gov. Becky Skillman?

I like Senator Pence. If Lugar runs again it would be nice to kick him out in ‘12.

Governor or Senator to knock out that awful Lugar.

He might prefer to live at home in Indiana full time for a change.

Remember, we can only knock out Lugar if the Indiana GOP gets off its rear end and actually runs SOMEBODY, ANYBODY!, against Lugar in the primaries.

If they don’t we’re stuck with another 6 years of Lugar. He keeps getting re-elected because nobody ever runs against him! This has GOT TO STOP!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I know and I hope Mike Pence has Senate ambitions, although he would make a great governor too. I am a long time admirer and supporter of Congressman Pence and a FaceBook friend/fan as well. :)

Lugar is beyond sickening and I’ve heard he plans to seek reelection in 2012. UGH.
