Members of the House Ethics Committee and the various subcommittees which probed Reps. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) and Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) for alleged transgressions are meeting behind closed doors in the basement of the Capitol to discuss a trial schedule for the two lawmakers, Fox News Channel reported Thursday.
Both Rangel and Waters declined to accept potential punishment that ethics investigators wanted to mete out back in July. Instead, the duo opted for separate trials in an effort to clear their names.
There is consternation among Ethics members as they have repeatedly failed to come to an agreement as to when the trials should be held. There was speculation last week that a trial schedule would be released but members could not settle on a time line.
A source familiar with the investigation indicated to Fox News that it was unlikely that either trial could take place before the Nov. 2 election.
"It's unfair for them not to do it before the election," Rangel told Fox News Thursday. He added that he hoped to hear something about a schedule by the end of the week.
Ethics trials are very rare in the House. The last one triggered the expulsion of former Rep. Jim Traficant (D-Ohio) in 2002. The one prior to that sanctioned former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) in 1997.

Seems appropriate.
These guys are good for the cause. Festering open sores on the ##es of the rats in charge. Publicically elected crooks attempting to negotiate a inhouse fair explanation as to thier worng doings. We need to set an example, pressure our newly elected to persue prosecution and jail time for these crooks and enemies of the American people.
It’s racist to think they’re guilty.
It’s racist to think they’re not entitled to break the law.
It’s racist to not vote for them.
It’s racist to think they should not rule like kings and queens.
It’s probably racist to even post this article.
Mmm ... mmm ... mmm ...
When I approached Jackson Jr about how so many thought that his candidacy could propel him to Chicago Mayor or other political seats, and back in 1995 Jackson Jr shows me this chart that he developed as to WHY his candidacy and election to Congress was set to make history if he could serve at least 20 years. Jackson, Jr said “Mark, look at this chart,” and the chart showed that most members of Congress were 60 years of age or older, and he said that in 20 years most of the current members of Congress would either be retired or dead, and that he was elected young enough to be the historic first Black to be Speaker Of The House!! Jackson Jr told me that being from Chicago AND Speaker of The House would put him in the most powerful position to not just take care of directing funds to Chicago but to Black and poor areas across the country! After I studied the chart and listened to Jackson, Jr, I believed what he said about his track to be the first Black Speaker of The House!!
" I been in Congress 13 years. My earmarks totaled $231,000 as of 6/1/07.
There's plenty more where that came from. There's "nothing wrong and nothing
new" about my funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars to my wife, Sandi,
a Chicago Alderman."
THIS JUST IN Now we know why JJJ gave his wife all that money. There is an affair hinted at between JJJ and a woman named Giovanna Huidobro. When the affair story broke, JJJ asked "...that you respect our privacy."
Privacy? So what happened to "bring it on!"
Mmmmmmmm.....it was the blonde who took one look at JJJ's crotch and said, "Bring it on."
Along with senate hearings on the NBP case.
LOL!
JJJ as speaker would be a clown show. He can’t even run the chair in a normal session of congress. I watched him not to long ago. It was mass confusion....lol!
I’d rather they be scheduled for next year...
