Arkansas Abortionist and Former Clinton Physician Dies at 75

By Kathleen Gilbert

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas, September 27, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - An Arkansas abortionist notorious for mocking pro-life witnesses and who once claimed that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was his patient, has died of cancer at the age of 75.

William Harrison, a Fayetteville obstetrician/gynecologist, closed his abortuary earlier this year after he was diagnosed with leukemia, leaving only one abortion facility operating in the state. Operation Rescue reports that Harrison claimed to have killed over 20,000 children in the womb over the course of his 36-year practice.

Pro-abortion writer and professor Carole Joffe notes on RH Reality Check that Harrison was "an energetic writer as well as speaker" who often wrote for liberal and pro-abortion websites. Harrison also penned a novel, “There is a Bomb in Gilead,” as a pro-abortion response to converted abortionist Bernard Nathanson's “The Hand of God.”

The abortionist enjoyed an intimate friendship with former U.S. president Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, the latter of whom was a former patient of Harrison's. It was around the time of her friendship with Harrison that Clinton developed what biographer Paul Kengor called a "religious devotion" to abortion, one that Harrison himself said he encouraged Bill to pursue more vigorously during one of his campaigns for the governorship of Arkansas.

Following an emotional encounter with a black woman who was deeply upset over her pregnancy in the late 1960s, Harrison abandoned his work delivering babies to pursue killing them in the womb full-time. Since then, he told ABC news, he has performed three abortions before lunch, and three after, four days a week. "I consider the mother's life to be much more important than that little blob of tissue, and that's all it is at that time," he told ABC's Martin Bashir.

Harrison has acknowledged he was "destroying life" as an abortion provider, but said that he felt he was allowing women to be "born again" by providing the abortion that would allow them to pursue the life they chose.

During the Spring 2010 40 Days for Life, a national pro-life prayer and fasting campaign, Harrison told media he felt the campaign was "silly," adding that "standing across the street and praying to end abortion - that doesn't work." He also "thanked" vigil participants for pointing out his location, because he doesn't advertise and claims that people praying outside will help newcomers find him.

40 Days for Life National Director David Bereit noted that, despite the taunts, both he and local pro-lifers were "praying for Harrison" to quit his work destroying unborn children.

Following Harrison's death, Operation Rescue president Troy Newman also said he would offer prayers for the abortionist, and said that "this man will never again have the opportunity to kill any more babies, hurt any more women, or cause any more human misery on this Earth."

"We pray other aging abortionists around the nation will not follow Harrison's example [of unrepentance], but will instead find repentance and forgiveness for their bloodguilt through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ," said Newman.

I wonder if this guy help abort some babies that Bill might have fathered?

I imagine if one acts like Bill Clinton did, it is good to have a friend who is an abortionist -- just to keep things nice and quiet...

At the time Norma McCorvey converted from pro-abortion to pro-life, and from being non-Christian to Christian, she worked at an abortion clinic called A Choice for Women

At that time (Summer 1995 in Dallas), someone modified the sign on the abortion clinic to say: A Choice for Men

Abortion can get men into serious trouble with paternity suits as well as trouble if they are married and impregnant another woman/girl than their wife...

I consider this true of Bill Clinton: abortion probably helped Bill Clinton get out of trouble...

Hmmm...

...closed his abortuary earlier this year after he was diagnosed with leukemia, leaving only one abortion facility operating in the state.

One down, one to go. Sounds to me like it's working.

LOL! I'm sure that's exactly what happened.

The reality is that pretty much every abortionist of the 1970s was illegally performing them off the books for tax-free cash years before Roe vs. Wade.

It's an extremely lucrative business if you're kind of lazy and not a very good doctor. And also have no soul.

On this topic.

We had a President talk about he hopes his daughter isn't “punished” by an unwanted pregnancy.

I wonder, in his ideological, fast paced, self victimized and self ingratiating, did he ever have the time to come to grips that he is the product of a white mother that wants to get ahead and further her education, black father in a less than perfect marriage? It was exactly people like his mother that contemplates this. Does he realize that he's the mistake, the punishment, according to his reasoning?

“Abortion can get men into serious trouble with paternity suits as well as trouble if they are married and impregnant another woman/girl than their wife...”

Plus, it’s most difficult for a dirty old man or a dirty younger man to get a judge to accept in court “But, Your Honor, she TOLD me she was 23!!!”

I imagine the 40 Days for Life campaign is targetting that abortion clinic, but I will have to check...

so...if Hindus are right, he’s probably been reincarnated into a rat with leprosy or something worse

If Muslims are right, he’s burning in hell.

If atheists are right, he’s just a rotting corpse with no meaning.

If Christians are right, he’s burning in hell.

I guess if the church of “I’m ok, you’re ok. Leave as you came” is right, he has now entered the kingdom of God where he will live happily ever after.

A bit like Romney’s bleatings about how ‘mom’ supported abortion, and he does too. Since ‘mom’ held that view, he ought slow down and consider himself lucky rather than entitled.

The early feminists were against abortion, because in their minds, it was one more way for men to exercise their dominance over women.

They got to walk away unscathed, while the woman bore the shame and guilt of what she had done.

My, how things change.

Yours is a logical post. It also highlights the utter unrighteousness and injustice of a universalist system.

*** Abortion in America is a matter of “convenience.”

It's people that for financial benefit, out of shame or even just for looks choose to destroy a life that was created by the their actions and free will. There are thousands wishing they could have children and willing to adopt. Some willing to pay large amounts for adoption. Baby Mosses laws across the country make it easy for a mother to drop off a baby at a hospital, fire department or police station no questions asked. The health care system and social services in this country will pay for the pregnancy, delivery, and even as the kid grows up and if poor. Local city, state, federal and nongovernmental services available are vast. The purpose of abortion is to ideally (for those seeking this) destroy this life that was created so that friends and family don't know and the shame and inconvenience of a pregnancy are avoided. The logic is simple- I chose this, but I don't like what I asked for, so could you please make this go away because it doesn't fit into my schedule right now?

It is nearly entirely a matter of convenience! The arguments of rape, medical necessity and incest are attempts at rationalizing the rule with the rare exception. 50,000,000 since R vs. W for the mothers health?

It's a business based on fake ethical arguments. It's a quick and highly profitable business worth billions for doctors and bogus advisers like Family Planning. It allows sexually lascivious people to live on hedonistic avoiding all responsibility for their own behavior. It's a sad statement about our society where in our universities we teach the advent of the pill as the greatest medical or even technological advancement in mankind (no kidding - really taught in some schools). We are morally and culturally degenerating, abortion is but one of the manifestations.

People are motivated by:

(The typical)
Money
Power
Sex
Ego (being #1)

(The good ones)
Duty of office, to country, family, unit....etc.
Sense of creating ones legacy/honor.
Morals which is related to duty but in this case to the Creator.

What will his legacy be? I wonder what his epitaph will read?

Your post is eloquent and true.

Principally for the reasons you outline I do not think this polity will be able to avoid the crucible of judgement. When a culture, a nation, a people or a family deliberately and willfully kills its own future, it has none. As sure as taxes, as sure as death, an accounting will be required for this.

So, Bill kept an personal abortionist on call at all times! No wonder Hillary only had one child, or did he make it too late!
