Mom did just 7 months in starved baby's death
Houston Chronicles ^ | September 27, 2010 | Terry Langford

Eight-week-old Saul Castillo, wrapped in a blanket and wearing a green and white hat, died when his tiny 14-gram heart stopped beating, his emaciated body little more than skin wrapped around sunken eyes and protruding bones.

I read a stat ten years or so past that time served for all homicides in the US averaged about 2 years.

I thought that Texas handled people like this in a more severe way.

Well, we allow infanticide already in the form of abortion on demand. From there, this isn’t that much of a leap. Maybe that’s why the law tends to go easy on women who kill their kids.

Surprised they didn’t charge her with practicing medicine without a license.

Some crimes call for Vlad's type of cruel and unusual punishment:

“I like to see the source. That is really messed up.”

It was ten years ago and I cannot remember if it was a news item or a professional source. Remember, it encompassed ALL homicides - negligent, vehicular, involuntary manslaughter, etc., as well as intent crimes.

A prayer for the child, who is with Our Lord now...

A PRAYER OF MARY

You didn't make it, Little Child, they wouldn't let you be. To your bud of life they took a knife … it's the New Morality.

They didn't mean to hurt you, Love, you have to understand. Forgive them what they did to you, their life was so well-planned.

They couldn't take you with them up the ladder of success, Money, it meant more to them than a child from heaven-blessed.

Tell me, little Child, what did Creator say? Did He wrap you in his love and wipe your tears away?

You hover on the edge of time. I see your faceless form. You laugh whenever children play, Oh God, for you I mourn!

He sent His only precious Son to teach us all The Way. Still, we kill the little ones, it happens every day!

You didn't make it, little Child. They wouldn't let you be. It's the New Morality.

She was convicted of a presumption of abuse ~ mostly because they took the kid to the doctor too late ~

There's no evidence they purposefully starved the baby, and there are many reasons why a child may have trouble with even its own mother's milk, or formula, or any other food.

Basically she was sent to prison for being uneducated ~ and she's being condemned by people here who have no idea why a baby may "fail to thrive".

I looked for more information on this case but that's the thing that doesn't pop up ~ the precise cause of death.

Hey, I was lucky to make it through babyhood ~ I could hardly eat any of the standard stuff ~ just mother's milk and cream of rice. Something like most formula then available, or cream of wheat, would have killed me. Guess that makes me much more sensitive to these situations than you'd otherwise guess.

Too bad she wasn’t spayed while she was in there. There is no reason for her not to do this again. Think of the couples that would have been thrilled to adopt that baby and fill its little life with love. Too unbearably sad.

This is the best supported set of stats I could find online, and it reports an average of time served for homicides at 71 months circa 1992. This seems more plausible than the approximately 30 months that I recall, but is also from almost a decade earlier. Crime statistics leaped an spun like gymnasts during the years of the Janet Reno DOJ.

The overall thrust of this 2003 article is still quite accurate with respect to the numbers game in what passes for American criminal justice.

IMO, too many violent offenders are released to make room for narcotics and property offenders. This is an old argument often made, and sure to bore so I will abstain.

The Female Discount in Sentencing is a well known phenomenon. Oddly enough Feminists never demand equity in sentencing laws. Go figure.

It's even worse than that -- feminists demand that women serve even less time than they already do.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1311004/Judges-ordered-mercy-women-criminals-deciding-sentences.html

In the UK, the High Court has commanded lower court judges to show even more lenience when sentencing women. Men are now officially second class citizens there.

I wonder how long it will take for the US to adopt the same official guidelines..

But as a condition of her parole, Valencia, now 25, has been ordered to undergo parenting classes.

She'll probably remember to feed the next one. That is, if she takes parenting classes.

This is just flat wrong.
