And it wouldn't come to a 'screeching halt' either. The appointment of doctrinaire leftists to the executive branch agencies would go on apace, as would most of the judicial nominations.
Obama will, if anything, nominate even more thoroughly left-wing communists to the federal bench, forcing ugly showdowns on every one, hoping to either stuff the courts or else have lots of empty seats on the bench to run on in 2012, part of his "blame gridlock on white Republicans" strategy.
