'Credible But Not Specific' Threat of New Terrorist Attack (It's not October yet, fool!)

US and European officials said Tuesday they have detected a plot to carry out a major, coordinated series of new terror attacks in the United Kingdom, France, Germany and possibly the United States.

A senior US official said that while there is a "credible" threat, no specific time or place is known. President Obama has been briefed about the threat, say senior US officials.

Intelligence and law enforcement authorities in the US and Europe said the threat information is based on the interrogation of a suspected German terrorist allegedly captured on his way to Europe in late summer and now being held at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.

US law enforcement officials say they have been told the terrorists were planning a series of "Mumbai-style" commando raids on what were termed "economic or soft" targets in the countries.

In testimony before Congress last week, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said, "We are all seeing increased activity by a more diverse set of groups and a more diverse set of threats."

From your lips to God’s ears. I pray you’re right, and such an attack would bring out the very best in us—including the kind of patriotism that is sick and tired enough of Obama to give the Republicans an even bigger sweep in Nov.

I haven’t been out on the road much since last weekend, and I live in a smallish town. I haven’t seen any trucks being stopped, but then I don’t think I’m in the best position to observe it. Are there reports of trucks being stopped and searched?

‘possibly the United States’

So it’s possible the U.S. isn’t being considered.

But it sure gets unemployement and out of control government out of the headlines, eh?

Good work, in tying these two issues together. It would not surprise me if there was a connection in there somewhere—especially with the Iranian madman. Let’s just pray Americans are way more savvy than the Spaniards.

I'm not all that hopeful. The news might interfere with American Idol...or maybe even Monday Night Football.

I have a cat named Spike who would like to meet Infidel Kitteh. Spike didn’t get his name for nothing. ;)

As for the election/possible attack. It could go either way. Sometimes US voters act stupidly, but other times they come through in a big way. I’m leaning toward the belief that a terrorist strike would bring out our best—and the Dems are NOT our best.

And still we dither about what to do, whether Afghanistan is worth it, etc. Annihilate them wherever they stick their head up. The only thing these people will respond to is strength. They expect us to be weak.

“Allegedly captured”? It took four ABC “reporters” and an alleged editor to come up with “allegedly captured”? I doubt the cited law enforcement authorities in the US and Europe speaking of the “suspected German terrorist” uttered that phrase and if they had, the reporter(s) should have thrown a red flag on the field. They insert these verbs to boost their word count and to simulate intelligence without regard to what they are allegedly reporting. I’m sorry, but the suspected terrorist was either captured or he wasn’t, and if he wasn’t, there is no story. “Journalism school” ain’t what it used to be.

How would a big terror attack help Congressional Dems? Sure it would raise Obama’s popularity and take some of the laser focus off the economy but terrorism concern plays to the strengths of our Repub candidates.

But are the terrorists smart enough to figure that out? They saw how the nation rallied behind Bush after 9/11. Perhaps they think they would be doing Obama a favor if we were hit again before the November election. I think it would make things even worse for Obama and the democrats (if that were possible).

President Obama has been briefed about the threat

Don't worry tough guy 0bama says we can absorb it. So what if some or a lot of people die, tough guy says it will make us stronger.

We are so screwed. How many of us will survive the incompetence and villainy of the Usurper.

Hopefully not.

The Quisling MSM would never tell the terrorists exactly where the checkpoints are because that might facilitate the terrorists eluding the checkp... err... wait - “The QUISLING msm”.

Hmmmm...

Thanks for the link. It sounds like the authorities are starting to get worried. I can’t imagine why. With the border so well patrolled and under control, it’s hard to see how the terrorists could possibly sneak in. /s
