Israel’s blockade of a Gaza-bound flotilla last May would have been illegal, even if Osama bin Laden himself had been on the ship full of pro-Palestinian activists, a member of a U.N.-appointed fact-finding mission told the Human Rights Council. The Geneva-based HRC is considering a report by the three-member commission that investigated the so-called “flotilla incident” – Israel’s interception at sea of Gaza-bound vessels, including the Turkish-flagged Mavi Marmara, on May 31, 2010. The ensuing deadly clashes between Israeli commandos and pro-Palestinian activists left nine activists dead.

Actually, the title was too long for FR posting software. It actually reads:

Israelis are legally required to let terrorists kill them.

As any leftist, muslim, or Nazi will say: “The only good Jew is a dead Jew!”

Is this the same UN Human Rights Council chaired by plenty of Islamist nations with poor records on human rights?

When is it ever illegal to intercept a ship heading for your sovereign territory?

Are there ANY UN pronouncements, findings, or decisions that are not evidence of their irrelevance?

Blockade-running is a dangerous business ... assumption of the risk.

If they think it would’ve been illegal to board a “flotilla” with OBL aboard, somehow I’m thinking I shouldn’t take seriously their opinion of the legality of any counterterrorist operations.

nothing like having a bunch of biased toward to criminal's peers to judge a situation...

reminds me of the Skippy Gates case... both cop and Skippy were found to be at fault by a panel of Skppy's Harvard peers... even though Harvard prof was clearly guilty ...

So in his mind, the US coastguard would be illegal for stopping a ship coming into our waters from Mexico full of dope.

The UN should move to Iran, where it can serve as a human shield for the missile silos.

I suggested in an earlier post (when this incident occurred back in May) that you would find the owners of these vessels much less eager to participate in blockade running if Israel (after seizing the vessel, escorting it to port, and unloading it) took the vessels back out to sea and sank them.

At least no repeat offenders.

I suggested that they simply disable the ships. Shoot chains into their engines, or even very small charges that would just disable them and force them to call out for a tow. The Israelis would answer the SOS :-)
