Islam gets special treatment in America

An English-language advocate says a recent union contract that will replace Labor Day with a Muslim holiday at a Tyson Foods processing plant is an example of multiculturalism run amok. Jim Boulet of English First shares that he was flabbergasted...that non-Islamic union employees at Shelbyville, Tennessee's Tyson plant will no longer have Labor Day as a paid holiday, but instead will have October 1 off, which corresponds to the end of the Islamic festival of Ramadan.

The company says only about 250 of the 1,000 employees affected by the contract are Muslim, mostly refugees from Somalia. Boulet contends a new immigrant to America, legal or illegal, enjoys more rights than taxpaying American citizens.

"A Christian or Jew in an Islamic country would not even receive close to this accommodation. You can't even build a Christian church in Saudi Arabia, let alone a synagogue. But Christians and Jews in the United States get to give up their Labor Day holiday in honor of this Muslim holiday," Boulet adds... "Wait and see what is going to happen to this country if we tolerate this kind of creeping Islamization."...

What they haven't figured out yet, at the plant, is that Ramadan comes at a different time each year, so they have created a rolling vacation monster. Somalians no less. Why are these people in our country? ENJOYS MORE RIGHTS THAN TAXPAYING CITIZENS!

Why did the union agree to this when its non-Muslim members are in the majority?

Holy Crap.

I guess Tyson got tired of taking heat for hiring thousands of illegal Mexican to pluck their chickens.

So now they’re importing Somali’s? 250 of 1000 employees are Somali refugees?

Meanwhile, how many Americans are jobless?

Islam means submission. Maybe Tyson should rename it’s brand to Islam?

Ever work in a chicken plant?

I have.

N a s t e e e e ~ and these days they keep the places refrigerated.

If you gave me the choice of working in waders in a tub of warm oil shoveling steel shavings into a wheelbarrow, or working in a chicken operation, it's close.

Office work is a good deal every single time.

My rights are neither increased or lessened by a private companies decision on when to give paid holiday leave.

Special treatment in America also implies that this is something to do with American law and across America. A less spittle stained and more accurate headline would be “Islam gets special treatment at Tyson's Food Plant”.

But harder to get people worked up into a lather over a more accurate headline.

Here's the problem ~ with 1,000 workers this factory probably has one main line with some feeder lines for special purposes.

I'm pretty sure they had it all under control simply by isolating the Somalis on a couple of feeder or "prep" lines until some of the Somalis got promoted to work in "other areas" at a higher dollar per hour rate. Then, scheduling became a serious problem.

So, what to do when 250 employees adhere tight to Islamic Ramadan Rules the last day, and then party all night and there goes the second shift operation?

Oh, and the next day is gone too because those guys'll have been up all night.

They use CUTTERS in chicken factories ~ big, nasty cutters and two kinds of employees should never operate them ~ (1) THE DRUNKS and (2) THE SLEEPY.

If the company could achieve its safety standards, it's employee attendance needs, and keep the line(s) running properly all by shifting a paid holiday JUST ONE DAY it all makes sense.

The union agreed because this kept the plant open. The alternatives didn't.

I just noticted this article is over two years old. Wonder what really happened.

Do you mean the scheduling problems were part of the hijacking of the labor day holiday?

“...creeping Islamization..”

The Great thing about the United States is that we always have been able to educate ourselves and stop our demise...

However, what has been spreading for quite a long time from Plainsfield, IN since the early eighties - is now up and running...which means that our efforts at stopping Islam will have to be drastic...

How many are prepapred for this???

Islamist access to the food supply is apparently excellent.

Move along.

Ramadan is a 28 day period that rotates backward through the calendar. It takes something like 18 years to cycle ('cause it's a lunar calendar thing).

We have 10 legal holidays. They are not evenly spaced. Ramadan will not always interfere with a legal holiday, but the end date of Ramadan, a serious party time for Moslems, will encounter a workday 5/7 of the time ~ and that's bad due to worker safety requirements in any operation with mechanical cutters and sharp shiny things that slice meat.

I suspect this is an effort by Tyson and the union to FIX a very long term problem.

As long as everybody gets his own holidays, and nobody is cutting his or her hands off on the job (which is messy and always necessitates shutting down for the day and tossing product and using high pressure steam hoses and stuff, and cuts pay for hourly rate people) everybody wins.

Doesn't sound like the company is adding holidays, but it's swapping out the last day of Ramadan with any holiday that impinges on that time, and other arrangements are probably made for workday interference.

You know people in a state of freedom are able to negotiate all sorts of deals and do so regularly,
